The Racketeers Biography
The Racketeers- A seven / eight piece band from Portsmouth tagged in the industry as Jamaican RnB / Ska / Blues n Soul. Originally formed as a four piece in 2004 they then went on to adding a brass section to their 60’s blues n soul sound. They have been growing strong ever since with their debut album (Around the World in 1023 Bars) selling out within a year of release and playing festivals such as: Isle of Wight x3, Boomtown Fair, Rennes Ska Festival, Lifestyles Fest, x2 (Headline) Bognor Rox x2, Throughout the years they have supported the likes of THE TOASTERS, THE DUALERS & THE BEAT on more than a couple of occasions, and sold out headline shows in their hometown at Wedgewood Rooms. They then went on to release their second album “Slick But Tight” in 2009 through Panama Records which was given a Four Star rating from Big Cheese Magazine. With an EP and album to be released in 2012, Racketeers continue to add to the fan base and continue to add more to their sound. The future looks promising so keep an eye out for when they will be playing in a city near you.
