About
Big Bear Lodge
The Big Bear Lodge at the Andres Institute of Art in Brookline, New Hampshire, is a unique and historic performance space nestled within the former Big Bear Mountain ski area's lodge. Located on the second floor of the AIA Welcome Center, this venue is renowned for its resonant, rustic acoustics, which are enhanced by the building's natural wood and open-beam construction. This sound quality has attracted both local and national acts throughout its history, with legends like Aerosmith, James Montgomery band, Roots of Creation, and J. Geils having played there.
The room is set up with all table-seating, creating an intimate atmosphere for the audience, which is typically limited to about 130 guests. The venue hosts the "Live at the Andres Concert Series," showcasing a diverse range of genres, including big band jazz, classic rock, blues, jam band, funk, and Latin selections, often benefiting the Institute's mission. It features a large stage, professional house sound, and DMX lighting, making it fully equipped to host various musical ensembles. Its historical charm and commitment to the arts make it a special spot for live music in Southern New Hampshire.
