Adams Theater

The mission of The Adams Theater Presents is to create a sustainable performing arts institution that fosters community engagement through a diverse range of programming. Collaborating extensively with independent artists and other cultural organizations in the Berkshires and beyond, the Adams Theater celebrates creative partnerships and promotes cultural dialogues.

THREE PROGRAMMING PILLARS

The Adams Theater features an eclectic and diverse program of music, dance, theatre, comedy, and multimedia arts from local luminaries to international talents.

The Adams Theater Community Program partners with other organizations to host events that make a positive impact on the local communities through education, creativity, and community building.

The Adams Theater Incubator invites independent artists and collectives to use our physical space to develop bold, original works that promote cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary collaborations. We select residency projects with an eye towards those that would cultivate meaningful interactions between the visiting artists and the local communities.

HISTORY

Built as a movie theater in 1937 to replace the burned-down Atlas Theater in downtown Adams, MA, the Adams Theater was a cultural anchor that connected generations of local residents until its closure in 1967.

Adams Theater LLC purchased the building at 27 Park Street in Adams on May 12, 2021. Its goal is to restore the 12,443 square-foot theater complex, cultivate downtown activities, and become a year-round arts and performance venue that is accessible to all.

The Adams Theater Presents, formed in October 2023, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is the sole presenting organization for the arts and community programs at 27 Park Street in Adams.
