They were amazing, which is not a surprise. What was a surprise is why a band of this stature was booked into a venue way too small. It didn’t make the show bad in any way but the promoters should know more about the bands they’re booking.
Had a good time! Was crazy to see Arch Enemy at such an intimate venue as the Pearl.
Had a bit of an issue with the mix, I thought the drums were great, the bass sounded great, the lead guitar was obviously the most forward on the mix and sounded great, but I had trouble hearing the vocals on top of the overall mix, they often were just nestled within the lead guitar sound and not present enough. I could not make out any of the lyrics of the new album. The biggest issue though, was that I just couldn't hear the stage left guitar player, he was no where near present enough in the mix. So much of arch enemy's music has amazing guitar duets and solos back and forth, but I couldn't hear any of the 2nd guitar player. I thought he was being hazed by the engineer, who refused to give him his moments. I kept looking over at the engineer during the most egregious moments, but he was on his phone or just sitting there not caring. I was standing 2 meters to his left, in the same listening zone, thinking how can he not hear this or fix it.
The band was great though, awesome experience. I just wish I could hear them mixed a little better next time! I kept hoping that we'd get those 2nd guitar solos up, but to no avail. 2 stars off an other wise 5 star show because the mix was not up to par for a band of their status. The engineer definitely had the know how and the gear to make it good, he just phoned in it that day.
Lighting was good, definitely looked like the design had to be compromised to some degree due to the venue's size, but the LD did a good job.
Wonderful show! High energy and highly polished performance. Sorry there weren't more people there (Monday night!) but I hope you do consider returning to either Vancouver or Victoria. It was a sheer pleasure to hear and see you all in person.
Raquel was amazing and fun. She has a voice like butter!
Her band was locked in tight and smooth as glass.
The only bummer is that she didn’t get on stage till after 9:15pm…almost 2 hours after official start time. Kind of a bummer for a Wednesday night.
Sublime performance by the band, the duo have very strong chemistry and stage presence. Skilled and bold use of multi instruments to create the dreamy desert / wild western Morricone style music. Though the venue could’ve done a better job on the set up (bass was too loud and vocal was too quiet), the band made the most of the set up and delivered with gusto. Hope to see them in North America again soon.
One of the best shows I’ve seen in decades. They played for almost 3 hours, Non-stop hip-swaying great vibes and sexy music.
They deserve the big 🏆 for some of Canada’s best rock. A must see concert if they come to a venue near you.
No one came so it was a private show. Disappointed they came from London and only played for 60 min.
2 headliners and 2 less than extraordinary backup bands that should not have been booked on the same night.
This was a beautiful and intimate concert. I've wanted to see Scott live since I heard his album in 2014, I'm so pumped I was able to.
Honestly, I've never been to the Pearl but the sound there blew any venue of comparable size out of the water. I was surprised because it was a small space but it was great! And Sparta killed it of course!
The Boy Golden show at The Pearl in Vancouver was such a fun event. They played lots of the new releases and tons of old favourites as well. You can tell that the band are great friends and they’re all so talented. The third time seeing this band and I love them! You could tell that everyone in the crowd was as impressed!
First time at the pearl, it was the perfect place to see misery signals on their farewell tour, the sound was excellent in there. No problems with any of the staff, I'd definitely go there again.
After 4 epic bands and driving 7 hours to get there with an hour to spare...then 7 hours back the next morning, I can hardly move, I'd do it all over again
Great venue, great show,
The band is great! I love their music but this show the sound was so off. It was so loud all you could hear was.. loud. I'm not a stranger to loud concerts. I thought Motorhead was the loudest show I'd been too but even at that show it still sounded good.
Maybe the venue? Not sure
This was my first time seeing The Chats and you could just tell it was going to be a banger of a show. The show was sold out and there was an energy in the air. The Chats put on an great high energy classic punk show and they were solid/tight band. Lots of mosh pit action and stage diving. Definitely a fun time. Go see them!
2nd time seeing good kid live. They are absolutely incredible and have great energy live. I’m very proud to have been listening to them for so many years and seeing how much they’ve grown <3
Amazing show - Em has such a beautiful voice (her head voice is so soft and beautiful). Got to hear a few unreleased songs that were bangers - she has an amazing ability to turn universal feelings and experiences into happy songs with GREAT BEATS. Her drummer and guitar player were also insanely talented!
Randy was absolutely hilarious and was great at engaging with the audience and making each show feel unique to the location and calling back to earlier jokes from the audience and the warm up comedian. The warm up comedian was great at talking about relatable Vancouver specific topics and was a great opening act! My only complaints were about the venue itself. I paid for balcony seats, but it wasnt mentioned anywhere that there were no actual chairs on the balcony so we had to stand for most of the time except for during the breaks when were able to grab some of the bar stools. Since the location was a converted night club, the speakers were still blaring night club music ear bleadingly loud an hour before, and half an hour before, the music became even more deafening before it was finally turned down for the show. The bathrooms were also under renovation. Overall experience was still positive because the show itself was excellent, and both comedy acts did an excellent job performing in the venue. I would definitely attend another Randy Feltface performance in the future and will be recommending him to my friends and anyone who asks, but I don't think I would want to return to that location again. Perhaps the floor seats were better, as there were actually chairs set out, and it wasn't so close to the speakers.
Sad management from "The Pearl", when purchasing the tickets you don't get ANY sort of indicator that you'll be standing the whole show because you purchased balcony. Manager even laughs ironically as if it was obvious to get that outcome. But I gotta say opening act was really good and Randy was Phenomenal! hope next show they choose a better suited venue
The White Buffalo put an excellent show, thoroughly enjoyed the music. I didnt like the venue however. Sound was pretty good, great staff but there really needs to be seating options,
30 years of watching them play and they are just as good now as they were when they started. Trevor is and always will be one of the best frontmen. The fact he is a good human is an added bonus.
