The Sound

For me, this was a great evening. This was my second show for them having seen them two years ago in Austin. This time around they had sets, better lighting, and were very engaged with the audience. Each one of them plays multiple instruments, they all sing, and some of the leads on the new songs I didn’t realize were not Abigail!

Venue was packed but cool until they kicked everyone out. Matt Hansen, the opener, played an amazing set with an unreleased song and it was AWESOME. Dean always plays amazing sets and is good to his fans. Allegations were surprisingly addressed and his brother/videographer, Sean, did after show interviews with some fans from the crowd!

This is a great venue. Like the layout of the place. You don’t feel crowded and the seats are comfortable. Nice that there was food but limited options. The coat check was very nice on a cold and rainy night.

He killed I watched him open up for Hardy recently at Chula Vista Amp my god he caught me totally off guard I can relate to every single song he wrote and sung so anytime your in SoCal you can count me in I will be there ! You have a new super fan Thank You for stopping by in SoCal can’t wait to see you again ! Much love for you and your band Thank You

Outstanding band, sound, and venue. Our first time seeing them and they will definitely be on our list of people to see whenever possible. The Sound was a pretty cool venue that offered an awesome sound, multiple bathrooms, and bars. It's the perfect size venue and you can see the stage from most areas...unless you're really short. Great job TBT ...making Duluth proud. Thanks for the amazing show!

Wow. The new songs really popped live! I loved the confetti on not just the finale, but just about every song. The crowd was into it the whole time, singing along to almost every song. So good to see the band back performing!

This band is freakin amazing!! We’ve seen multiple times and will go to more shows. That said, taking the stage to begin playing 90 minutes(!!!) AFTER the widely advertised “start time” was a HUGE disappointment. Ticketmaster, Bands In Town and The Sound all advertised, (and The Sound confirmed with me by email) that Yachtly Crew would play from 9pm to 10:30pm. With that information, we chose NOT to get a hotel room, realizing that even with an hour drive, we’d be home before Midnight. But coming on stage SO late pushed the concert well past midnight (which would have been fine if we had known this ahead of time). The first-timers we brought with us had a babysitter lined up until midnight. It made it very embarrassing, for us, but out of our control that they had to repeatedly explain that the band was late while updating the sitter that they’d be super late getting home. All the advertising should have reflected the REAL start time of Yachtly Crew so the guests could plan better. Also, that DJ (which there was zero advertising about an “opening act”- or we would have arrived later) was WAY way too long and he played nearly the entire set list that we were there to hear the band play! It was just super uncomfortable from 8pm until the band finally took the stage at nearly 10:30. Whew! That was a lot and a huge complaint about timing. Now, the good: Yachtly Crew is THE Yacht Rock band as far as we are concerned. We are FANS! The Sound was a fabulous venue!!! All the staff from ushers, to coat-check to bartenders were friendly and helpful. The sound system and lighting were top notch. Any opportunity to return to The Sound will be welcomed. All in all we enjoyed our time and look forward to more from Yachtly Crew.

Samantha Fish is off the charts incredible and puts on an amazing show. Dec 20th at The Sound was no exception. My only negative comments were about the choice of warm-up acts. Didn't like them at all and they didn't seem to fit the genre she normally has. That aside, she is a "don't miss".

Haircut 100 has always been one of my favorite 80’s group. The horn section was amazing for this show, the percussionist also… fantastic. Graham & Nick were just as wonderful as they were 40 years ago, even better now. Another bucket list band for me to see. Thank you for such a great show. Wish we could have had MORE time & MORE music.

One of the most amazing concert experiences I have had ! Danced and sang with a huge smile on my face. Such huge fans since we were kids. Loved it ! Highly recommend adding this to your bucket list bands to see. I ❤️ Martin !!!! ⭐️🌟⭐️💫⭐️

I loved it I’ve been listening to yungblud for a long time I’ve always wanted to see him in person I’m from California and when I saw that he was coming to San Diego I bought tickets right away it was the most beautiful and amazing experience I’ve ever had I wish he came back to California so I can see him perform again

Such a fantastic show! Grace was perfect. Her band was perfect. They played for an hour and 45 minutes and could've played for another hour and 45 minutes. She has the material to do so. The Sound is a great place to see a show. Hope more artist come through there. Thanks Grace. Thank you very much!

Absolutely fantastic! He was even better live than recorded, which I didn’t expect, as him albums are already so good. The band was very stong and complemented Gregory’s voice well, but did not fade into the background. This show transported me to another place

Hard to give high praise having experienced DeadAhead in MX with a superior group of musicians and Bobby Weir. A good time close to home at a fraction of the cost though there are other Dead cover bands that I think give a much better show & experience…. Absolutely JRAD if only they played more often on the west coast. Surprised at the demand to see DSO live …. Also surprised that San Diego very sold out while Saturday night at LA Wiltern still has seats available tonight. DSO has been playing for many many years & they are constantly touring though I think there are better bands that could headline “Skull & Roses” festival in Ventura, CA this spring? Could be I would have preferred a 70s show vs 1986?

Great show. I would have given it 5 stars except it was o ly an hour and 25 minutes long. I guess that's good considering most songs are shorter in length and the original members are older. The songs were heavier than normal, with more guitar and bass, but worked great for a concert venue.

Brantley was on fire 🔥 he absolutely nailed it. He included the fans to be part of the show, that’s always a good feeling to be appreciated. If Brantley is in concert close to you don’t miss the chance to see him. The venue gives you a good vibe. It’s like having a concert in your own home. The employees were cordial and very helpful. I look forward to going back.

The show was fantastic! The band sounded great, the dynamic on the stage was awesome. Could tell you guys really were happy to be playing live and so glad that San Diego was your first stop. The hiccups from being the first show (cords in the way, mic not turning off) only added to the enjoyment for us really. Loved it guys!

Awesome Band and Venue! Everyone was into the music and great hospitality. About 1/2 of the guests were there for the 1st time to see them perform. Only negative comment was the Bass level was too high. Folks were complaining at the end that it was taking a toll on them. Glad they are back up to 7 performers. Maybe some day they will have guest female vocals to sing some of music from this era.

Really fun show! Classy venue, well set up. Yachtley Crew put on a romp of a performance playing all the hits we knew by heart. Great lighting and music. My only complaint is of the Sound venue itself, I feel that $15 for parking and $15 for a beer on top of admission is exorbitant.

An incredible night of music! Jason played for 3 hours, all of his fun uplifting music across his broad catalog. He was joined by friends Raining Jane, Colbie Callait, Toca Rivera, Billy of Bushwalla, Gregory Page, and his all star brass ensemble. We danced, we sang, met new friends! Loved the new venue The Sound. Will definitely be back. Great sound, awesome security, lots of bars, clean bathrooms, lots of open space, and not really a bad view from anywhere! Thanks Belly Up, great job!
