Gina Chavez, is a refreshing force integrating the musicality of indigenous,latino and hispanic roots with string,horns,percussion and her voice as instrumental accompaniment. Songs with universal messages of love, strife, gender and culture. Chavez has embraced her latino heritage and leaves us all the better for it. The heat of summer was working against us this mid July date but the crowd did arrive as did the welcomed breeze off the river. This artist even joined the dancers on the dance floor. What a treat! I hope to be privileged to hear Gina Chavez and her band members again in the near future. In between check her out on-line and hold your own dance parties...
