Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

Samara Joy singt traumhaft und zeigt mit ihrem Oktett völlig neue Dimensionen des Vocal Jazz. Leider ist der Sound in der Elbphilharmonie unausgewogen, insbesondere sind Bass und Klavier viel zu leise, dadurch kommen sehr viele Details von Arrangements und Improvisationen beim Publikum gar nicht an. Beeindruckend ist, dass diese Top-Band seit über zwei Jahren weltweit auf Tournee ist und immer wieder neue, komplex arrangierte Stücke ins Programm nimmt. Vom letzten Album „Portrait“ sind natürlich einige dabei, aber zusätzlich noch ein halbes Dutzend neue Stücke. Das stärkste Stück des Abends war die Billie Holiday-Ballade „Left Alone“, mit einer unglaublich spannenden Atmosphäre. Nettes Detail: Nachdem beim letzten Stück der Refrain „No More Blues“ in diversen Variationen zum Abschluss geführt wurde, kam als Zugabe tatsächlich ein Blues, „My Mother Done Told Me (Blues in the Night)“.

This concert meant everything to me and I'm so happy that your first real concert was in Hamburg because I could be there. Please don't ever stop producing this kind of magic.

My wife and I really enjoyed the Souad Massi concert at the Elbphilharmonie on March 14th. This visit was very special for us, as it was my birthday present to my wife — but also because it was a chance to see Souad Massi live again, after such a long time. The last time I saw her perform was back in 2006 at the MED Festival in Loulé (Algarve-Portugal) . Later in that same year, during a business trip to Algiers in the autumn, I bought all the CDs of hers I could find. I still listen to her music today. The Elbphilarmonie crew compare Souad Massi like the Tracy Chapman of the Maghreb — such a beautiful voice. She sings in Berber and Arabic, but also in French. The concert at the Elbphilharmonie, with the incredible acoustics of the hall and the unplugged sound of the band, truly took us on an unforgettable musical journey. Thanks for your concert Souad Massi, hope you came soon again back to Germany.

Musik war mega, leider der Sound unterirdisch schlecht. Habe ich so in der Elbphilharmonie noch nicht erlebt. Hat uns den Spaß ein wenig genommen.

was für eine band, was für ein schlagzeuger! auch wenn das set inklusive zugabe nur 90 minuten dauerte, war jeder moment intensiv und das zusammenspiel fantastisch!

Ein phantastisches Konzert! Emiliana und das Orchester haben mit riesiger Spielfreude das neue Album vorgestellt. Bei manchen Stücken wäre man am liebsten aufgesprungen, um zu tanzen. Die gute Laune auf der Bühne hat sich direkt auf einen übertragen. Andere ruhigere Songs rührten einen zu Tränen. Ein Konzertabend, der ganz besonderen Art. Und natürlich die perfekte Location für diese Musik!
