He played a good mix of his own songs and even included some BH songs which made me respect him even more. He had an amazing stage presence and included ALL of the crowd from the front, very back, far left, and far right.
I was at the concert August 18th and thought I only wanted to listen. HOWEVER< you do not go to see and hear the Gipshy Kings without getting up and moving to their rhythms. The main guitarist was excellent as was all the rest of the band. I enjoyed the raspy voice of Nicholas Reyes. It is a style that one needs to get used to and the more you hear him the more you enjoy his emotional style of singing. The Shell is such a wonderful venue to see and hear and dance with your favorite musical groups. ALSO the San Diego Symphony plays there and that too is a sweet experience. The cover singer was also good- sweet, naive style from downhome South.
Incredible venue and acoustics! What a magical sunset behind the bandshell. Perfect weather. The Symphony was awesome, and Jason Mraz was good/great. His music is sweet & positive and his band was fun and eclectic. But overall, the performance was missing that spark--that extra something you want when you go see a musician live.
BUCKET LIST. ✅Norah was mesmerizing! Her voice hypnotized the audience and had them in their seats the entire concert (at least where I was sitting). She played a lot off of her new album and a few of the old favorites. I can usually “name that tune” in five notes or less, and she had the entire audience fooled with her rendition of “Come Away With Me” which featured her at the piano with a twinkling of the keys. Absolutely dreamy. The only thing that would have made it better was a few upbeat songs to dance to. Ticking off the “live concert” bucket list, one show at a time and the Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park in San Diego with it’s extraordinary acoustic alchemy has been a great way to do it! Thank you Norah for sharing your gifts with the world! BRAVO! 👏👏👏
They were so much fun and they seemed to be really enjoying the night. They played over 20 songs and sounded amazing.
Opening band Midnight Cowgirls were a lot of fun too and fit well with the musical genre.
Venue of the Rady Shell was so unique—beautiful setting, acoustics were outstanding, friendly staff, food great, AND those sitting in the Marina seats were able to go to the front of the stage for the show.
She rocked as always! Loved her old throwback songs and Shadow of a Black Crow. I wish she had gone on after Jewel because lots of folks weren't there at the beginning. We read she was on 2nd and were lucky we made it for her first song. Hope she comes back to The Shell and plays after sundown. She is amazing! Also, she wanted folks to be able to rush to stage and dance up close to feed off the crowd energy but security wouldn't allow it. Too strict there.
This concert was Amazzzing! The venue was outdoors on the ocean, and it was general admission, so there were no chairs, which was perfect because it’s hard to sit down at a SOJA concert :) the weather was perfect and the vibe of the crowd was so uplifting! SOJA was epic as always and sang so many songs. Stick Figure was Amazing as well and they even sang together! Jacob of Sublime came out and sang as well! It was an unbelievable evening and I can’t wait to see them again! 😊💚💛❤️
Cody Jinks sounded amazing, venue is gorgeous, great atmosphere and sound quality was great.
Cons-
Seating is really tight! I'm a bigger guy 240lbs so the definitely not the most comfortable. Luckily our section was standing majority of the show making it more comfortable.
Also, bathroom and concession lines had really long waits.
Amazing show!! Gorgeous venue! Fun audience! I just love Richard Marx. He puts on an awesome show full of nostalgic music, great songs, funny stories, and knows how to give his audience a great time! And that smile…says it all!! Saw him again 2 nights later! ❤️🎶❤️
My boys Owned that Rady Shell stage as Always!! O-Town shows are Always Pure Entertainment from start to finish!! When you attend an O-Show, you are always going to be in for a wonderful treat!! Not only are these 4 Gorgeous, Amazing guys Great Artists and Entertainers, but more than that, they are Great humans!! They are the Best to their fans and also to fellow artists that they work with!! If you get the chance to check out an O-Town show, please do so; you will not regret it, I guarantee it!! ❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🤴🤴🤴🤴
When they actually brought it they sounded good. But… they seem to hate their own music. I get that after so manny years of touring they’re over it, but bring some energy even if you gotta fake it
This was the most refreshing, entertaining and enjoyable concert. I’ve been to in a long time! Jason Mraz, his energy was perfect! Having Gregory page, a hometown boy open for him was a great decision, and a true surprise for all of us!
I am so grateful for the generosity of Jason’s heart and soul! It was a very memorable experience!
The Mavis Staples concert at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park was very inspiring. Mavis still has the voice and enthusiasm to put on a great show! She knows how to rock the crowd!
AWESOME SHOW! The Symphony and the other artist were just amazing. Morgan is simply Remarkable. I have seen Morgan perform in 4 different states and she is awesome no matter where. The whole performance got a standing ovation at the Rady Shell. BRAVO!!! She is one of my favorite artists and she definitely has an electrifying voice. She is incredible. I will continue to be a fan and show up for support. I've seen Morgan James in person 5 times. I definitely want to see her performe in other countries. The Trailblazing music of Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon was magnificent and a magical night. Thank You Morgan James, Ted Sperling, Andrea Burns, Capathia Jenkins and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Excellent and Bravo to you all.
There may be no greater Neil Young fan than I am. I've seen him several times. At the Rady Shell, he was not at his best. He chose not to turn on the video monitors so most of the audience in this very large venue could see almost nothing of him. He chose, as promised, to devote about 80% of the show to songs that were not well known. He attempted 'small talk', asking repeatedly how everyone was doing and what they were 'up to.' Then he chastised the audience for not having enough energy to sing along. If you don't engage an audience, then they don't engage with you. I'm not sure what Neil wanted to accomplish on this tour, but I don't think he did it in San Diego.
I did not realize how good a performer Charlie Puth is! He gave it his everything! He’s a super strong singer and musician. I’ve been to a lot of concerts and this was my favorite!
I have seen Bonnie many times, and she continues to dig deep and convey a soulful, genuine feeling. She had a good selection of songs and genres. I brought my daughter to this concert, and she loved Bonnie's version of "Burning Down the House". Love ya, Bonnie! Long may you rock
Crowds we cool. Venue: Security and ticket lines were manageable. Long walk to get into venue at drop off. Additional 10 cork fee for bottle of wine, which is lame- since all they do it hand it to you.
Can be challenging venue if your short because the slope degree is low. Overall gorgeous location and sound is great.
Leon Bridges puts on one heck of a show. Recommend him if you can make a show.
Regina Spektor and Norah Jones give an awesome show their performance was really amazing. My only problem was with the venue. The seats I selected were almost in the last rows and I went mentally prepared that the distance would be quite a lot, so I decided to go with binoculars to appreciate the concerts. Unfortunately it was almost impossible for me to observe the artists because all the seats were quite close together and it prevented me from observing. I find it critical to redesign seating locations because it can be quite distressing to go to a concert in order to look at someone else's back. It was more functional to watch the concert in the halls than to sit down, so there is no science in selling tickets for the venue
Absolutely AMAZING. Probably the very best show of theirs that I have ever been to, and I’ve attended A LOT!! We got to hear songs that we normally don’t get at the concerts, and it was soooo so great!! I hope they never go back to singing with tracks and always use an orchestra. It was all so beautiful! The orchestra did such a great job, so hats off to them as well! Phenomenal show!!!
