Jassmine

Jassmine is 457 square meters located two floors below the intersection of Wilcza and Koszykowa streets. This space is filled by sound, namely jazz… but not defined within the palette of any genre. Because jazz is not what you play but how you play it - as the outstanding American trumpet player and composer Lester Bowie quipped years ago. To play something you need a person and an instrument, a group of people focused on listening and an amplification system that lets you hear every tiny nuance - the unique, characteristic aura of the upright bass and the tension of the skin of a snare drum, the euphoric, accelerated breathing and the rapt, determined (heart) muscle spasm, a smile appearing on a face and a tear silently running down a cheek. This is jazz - music that echoes the past, reflects the present and announces the future - a sound that brings people together and strips them to the core, a sound that flows from an instrument. This is what we deal with at Jassmine - a space that is immeasurably larger than these actual 457 square meters.
