About
Caffè Lena
As one of America’s iconic music venues, Caffè Lena has been growing a community one song at a time for more than 60 years.
Caffè Lena, a 110-seat performing arts venue in Saratoga Springs, presents extraordinary
music in an intimate setting steeped in history. It is widely recognized as the longest
continuously operating folk music venue in the United States. The Library of Congress calls
Caffè Lena “An American music treasure,” and the organization has been recognized by The
Grammy Foundation for making important contributions to the development of American music.
In 2016 the organization undertook a comprehensive renovation of its 19th century
building in Saratoga’s historic downtown. The transformation, completed in 2017, guarantees a
home for Lena’s celebrated programming for decades to come, creates 100% handicap-
accessibility to the second floor performance space, and brings the listener and artist
experience in line with the club’s international reputation.
Opened in a former woodworking shop in 1960, the venue has helped to launch many of
America’s best loved songwriters, starting with Bob Dylan in 1961 followed by an evolving
“who’s who” list ever since. Upon the passing of founder Lena Nargi Spencer in 1989, Caffè
Lena was converted to a non-profit supported by concert revenue, private and corporate donors, grants and bequests, and an ever-evolving team of volunteers.

If you're reading this, you have a more than average chance of figuring out how to get yourself to Sawyertoga. Do it. If there is a more doable location for you, do it. There's a a reason my reddit name is "YouMightThankMeLater". Check out Sawyer Fredericks and you'll know it.😄

This was our first Caffe Lena experience and so excited for the next! We didn’t know what to expect going in, but we’re pleasantly surprised. The crowd was friendly, our table mates were excellent company. The beer was tasty, the music excellent.

First time for the Lena Go Round. So cool to hear brand new stuff from my favorite artists, and in the iconic Caffè Lena. Looking forward to Sawyertoga 8.0 Memorial Day Weekend 2025
