Ellis Mano Band – Konservi Seon, 17 January 2026 On stage: Chris Ellis (vocals), Edis Mano (guitar), Severin Graf (bass), Nico Looser (drums) and Lukas Bosshardt (keyboards). Some bands just play together – others merge into a single entity. The Ellis Mano Band clearly belongs to the second category. In the once again sold-out Konservi Seon, they impressively demonstrated how much they have grown together after countless concerts on the ‘Morph’ tour. The evening kicked off with ‘Whiskey’, and it was immediately clear that Chris Ellis' voice is the emotional heart of the band. By the time they played ‘For All I Care’, the concert had developed into an intense musical journey between blues, rock and big emotions. ‘Scars’ in particular gave the audience goose bumps – carried by a touching solo from guitarist Edis Mano, who repeatedly transported the audience to other spheres with his melodious, almost trance-like playing. The band noticeably embraced improvisation, extended songs and played with audible enthusiasm. The highlight was the epic ‘Badwater’, a ten-minute explosion of sound in which every musician was able to shine. Lyrically, songs such as ‘Countdown To Nothing’ and ‘Ballroom’ also impressed with their depth and relevance. After a powerful finale with ‘The Question,’ the band returned for two encores. ‘Goodbye My Love’ and ‘A Lifetime’ brought an end to an evening in which the band and audience became one enthusiastic community. I was there for Basement Saint’s rebirth in 2024 with Down South and have now seen them eight times. Every show is unique, but May 2 at the Konservi in Seon was a revelation. The Saints delivered 19 powerful songs, from classics like “Fine by Me” and “Night Owl” to pirate anthems and the majestic new track “Dreams.” Musical Easter eggs nodded to Pink Floyd and The Doors, and “Highway Lines” opened with an organ intro worthy of Jon Lord himself. Drummer Molly, now more central without bass, played with precision and presence, anchoring every song with understated brilliance. Anton’s voice—bluesy, soulful, rock to the core—is the best in the business, and his guitar work continues to evolve with every performance. Robby on keys is pure electricity: playful, explosive, unpredictable. His solos? Legendary. His flying pirate hat? A tradition. But it’s the chemistry between Anton and Robby—fiery, melodic, epic—that truly lifts this band beyond comparison. Forget retro. This is now-rock at its finest. In a country proud of Gotthard and Krokus, Basement Saints stand tall as Switzerland’s most exciting live rock band. Still 18 shows to go in 2025—don’t miss your chance.
