About
Mockingbird Theater & Bar
What fans are saying
Some nights you go to hear a band. Other nights you stumble onto something.
The Mockingbird Theater is one of those places that just feels right—great room, great vibes, and the kind of venue where you can get close enough to the music to feel it. If you haven’t been, catch a show there.
Tonight’s main event was Hughes Taylor Band—now known as Soundabout Revival—and these guys came ready to throw down.
The set was all original material, including the premiere of five brand-new songs. And make no mistake, this isn’t some bar band cranking out covers. There’s serious musicianship happening here.
Hughes Taylor was absolutely on fire. In fact, his guitar literally burst into flames at one point—which somehow seemed completely appropriate. 🔥🎸 The guy can flat-out play. Watching him work the guitar is half the show, but the other half is the songwriting. There’s substance behind the chops.
And the rest of the band? Ridiculously talented. I honestly don’t know how the stage held up under the collective weight of all that musical firepower.
These guys have the chops, the songs and the stage presence. Now they just need a bigger stage.
Then came the closer: “Voodoo Joe.”
Holy s**t.
That one song alone was worth the price of admission.
If you get the chance to see Soundabout Revival, go. Catch them while you can still say you saw them in a room like the Mockingbird. I have a feeling these guys aren’t going to be playing small rooms forever.
Great band. Great songs. Serious talent. Don’t miss them.
