Curtis was simply great. This was my second time seeing him. His voice is as good as ever, his choice of songs perfect. He did a mix of his latest album, his older hits (re-arranged tastefully for a trio), some rollicking jazz and some sublime covers and standards. He shamelessly dropped references to his co-writers like Carol King, Paul Brady, Brian Kennedy - dead right. His sidemen were sublime if low-key. Curtis’s interaction with the audience was fun and Cork didn’t let him down, giving back plenty of repartee. The venue, The Everyman Palace, is just spectacular. Beautiful, acoustically balanced and comfortable (no shivering like Ballycotton a few years ago). And we even got a Christmas song.
