Welcome to Hugh's Room Live, Toronto's premier destination for live music enthusiasts! Located at our new home on Broadview Avenue, we are thrilled to continue our legacy as a haven for music lovers and performers alike.
Payment Options:
Hugh’s Room Live is a cashless venue. We accept debit, all major credit cards, and payment by phone. In our commitment to our staff, we've also implemented a "no tipping/fair wage" policy at the bar.
Seating and Accessibility:
Our new venue offers a variety of seating options, including comfortable pews on the sides. Seating is General Admission, so it's first-come, first-served. We are actively working towards full accessibility and are dedicated to making our venue inclusive for everyone.
Food & Beverage:
While we currently do not serve food, we offer a selection of wine, beer, and soft drinks. There are several dining options in the nearby Broadview and Gerrard area, with additional restaurants on Queen St, just a short distance away.
Parking & Transit:
Street parking on Broadview is free after 6 pm, and there are two "Green P" parking lots on Gerrard, both east and west of Broadview. Please note that Broadview Avenue north of Gerrard is open only to northbound traffic. The 506 Carlton and 505 Dundas streetcars run on regular schedules, and starting in January 2024, there are now 504/505 buses running south to us from the platform at Broadview Station.
Our History:
Hugh's Room Live has been a cornerstone of Toronto's music scene, hosting iconic Canadian musicians like Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, and Buffy Sainte-Marie, as well as international legends like Judy Collins and Pete Seeger. We're proud of our rich multicultural fabric and commitment to diverse music genres.
Where We Have Been:
Our journey led us from our long-time home at 2261 Dundas West to our new Broadview Avenue location. While we cherish the memories of our old space, we believe this move allows us to adapt and grow in response to the evolving live music industry.
What Happened The Last Few Years:
We've continued to support artists and music throughout the challenges of recent years by hosting virtual and live performances at various venues in Toronto. This journey brought us to our current home on Broadview Avenue.
Where We Arrived:
Thanks to the generous support of over 1000 donors and supporters, we secured our new home at 296 Broadview Avenue in July 2023, in the East Chinatown/Riverdale neighbourhood. This venue, made possible through grassroots financing, represents a new beginning for Hugh's Room Live.
What We’ll Do Now We’re Here:
Our mission is to not only be a fantastic music venue but also to become the central hub for Toronto’s diverse music community. Our new space will allow us to engage with community groups, offer educational programs, studio space, and masterclasses, providing opportunities for artists of all disciplines and backgrounds.
