It was lovely to see this concert in the Acapela. Catrin and Aoife were magnificent with a full appreciation from the audience.
Fantastic and the support act Heron Island excellent.
Brilliant night.
Great show great atmosphere and venue. Musicians who were loving every minute.
Brilliant
Excellent musicianship, wonderful venue, evocative show. This is real music and delighted to support.
Loved this gig. Very cosy and intimate. Caoilfhionn Rose voice was immense live, and her and her band had a great natural chemistry. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Absolutely fantastic show. I was completely blown away. Such musicianship. Very well done.
I am absolutely delighted to leave a review on last nights show in Acapela Studios in Cardiff !!! An absolutely talented group of musicians whom i cannot speak highly enough of ,The Lamb album whilst not being a particular favourite of mine was replicated to such a degree that with your eyes closed you would have found it very difficult to know it wasnt the original Genesis in the room with you.As i say all supremely talented musicians but i must reserve special personal praise for the drummer Francesco who is an absolute wizard!!!cheers Carl until next year somewhere 15 out of 10
A very underdressed Ian McNabb was acompanied by a well presented Chris Layhe, bassist from the Icicle Works. Both played short solo sets followed by some Icicle Works songs. Don't go expecting to hear the great old songs. Just Wonderful Colour and Out of Season. I'm not a fan of Understanding Jane, Little Girl Lost etc, but that's mostly what we got.
Bass was mixed low, so didn't make much difference though the 2 voices worked well together at times.
The set opener, Hollow Horse, was the highlight of the show for me. A great song.
I know the venue has a curfew, but the show end was pretty abruptly with both walking off and not returning, without any explanation. I saw TRB here last weekend and Tom Robinson handled it so much better.
They are absolutely the best live band around at the moment, probably the best I've ever seen. I've seen Bowie, Queen, Metallica and so many many more, but Beaux Gris Gris and The Apocalypse probably surpass the lot.
We've travelled the length of Britain watching them and they never ever disappoint.
Great to see the band.. some awesome tunes with great memories. Let down a little by front of stage sound balance... vocal mikes & violin up, with bass & drums down slightly I'd say. 🤷♂️
Brilliant, as ever. Saw them at the same venue last year. They were almost as good as the pizza. Even got to chat to the legendary Milton Keanes yet again.
What a pity that they were ripped off by that “other band” from Birmingham. They could have, and should have been massive!
The Acapela Studio venue was quaint and intimate. Also offers Pizza pre show. The old Church only Seats about 100 people with movable chairs & tables downstairs & rowed cinema seating up.
Hue & Cry were very entertaining, with tales of the past and some cheesy dad jokes. It was like going round to their house and jamming, as Pat spiralled into unique versions of their past catalog. I personally found the sound too loud for the small venue, but very enjoyable. Pat & Greg could have done a meet and greet after? I have waited 30 years to see them live, so bucket list item now ticked off. 80’s Legends live on!
She was fantastic and a great venue too
What a gig. Really privileged to have been at this show. Shame on anyone who missed this opportunity to see a fantastic singer. What a voice and what a lovely personality. Jessie hung on after the show to speak to the audience. Never Never miss a show if you come back to Cardiff
Outstanding, what an incredible voice and performance accompanied by an amazingly talented band. Can't wait to see them again.
Beth was the consummate professional in the playing of her songs, her introductions to her songs and so ably supported by Ruth Trimble and Mia Morris. A very special concert in a wonderfully intimate venue, The Acapela Studio.
Boots is back, and as good if not better than ever.
Funny, entertaining and with a voice as good as it was 40 years ago. Great songs, new & old. Thoroughly recommend catching him when you can!
Great job opening up for The Magpies. Loved the songs very catchy and a nice bit of duel guitars. Hopefully see you again!
Really nice show, opening up was Hawthorne Avenue, brilliant!
Then The Magpies took the night away with their foot stomping and catchy rhythms. Spoke very well in between songs too kept everyone in great spirits! Lots of fun.
Great intimate show, superb music with plenty of personality and jokes between songs and if that wasn’t enough they just happen to be the nicest people as well! Nice chat with them after the show.
