EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney)

This is the second time of seeing Common Saints live, the first being at O’mearas in London. The change in venue to EartH in Hackney was a great move as the space for the performance was excellent. I went with friends and as we are all in our late sixties it was refreshing to find the venue had seating even though the tickets had them as standing. On entering we climbed several staircases and then walked into the auditorium which was like an amphitheater, we located seats about three rows back and were extremely happy to be seated. The support act came on at 8pm and gave an impressive set of vocal dexterity to a sole keyboard background. She went down very well with the audience but we found it a bit all the same as one song sounded much like another. I appreciate the skill of her performance but would have liked to have seen more range. After a short interval Common Saints took to the stage to a rapturous welcome. The fans for this band are h*******e, some coming from as far away as the Philippines and Texas. It is always very difficult to play live something created in the studio with all the tricks and gadgets at hand and Charles has super impressive producing skills giving a very high standard of recording. Having said that the band have gelled really well together and gave a really good selection of favourite songs. As soon as they started playing the crowd came down to the front of the stage which was annoying for those seated in the first couple of rows but we could still see and more importantly hear the band really well. The sound was really good and the lighting was effective too. The feel of the gig took me back to some of the places I’d seen bands in in the 1970’s. It was very cool. I enjoyed singing along with lots of others on many of the setlist which contained songs from the outset up until the latest singles. Charles sang a lovely solo version of Marieanne and his voice was strong. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and appeared to be a hit with the rest of the audience. I chatted to a few people on the way out and we all agreed the venue was cool and sound was good and look forward to seeing more of Common Saints.

Wow, what a band and venue. They sound so good live and are so tight. I’ve followed Tunng since 2005 but never seen them live. Quite an emotional experience thank you 😉😜

The doors were meant to open at 11.30 for the Show to begin at Midday. However we waited outside for an hour without any explanation. It was an exceptionally cold day. However, having said all that, my daughter had the BEST time ever.

For a group that seems to only have gotten BBC radio play 5 months ago their live show is brilliant. People singing along, moshing and having the best time were all around me. During a break between the songs I saw a message being shared amongst the people in front of me “they are incredibly good”. Also the support act, Picture Parlour, was great. I loved their kinda old school rock sound.

A fantastic show, as always. Friendly band members and hugely talented. Can't wait until the next one!

It was awesome! Really good vocals and music!! Though they are a fairly new band, you can tell there is years of musical knowledge, experience, and talent that has built up for their unique sound and stage act!! Had a great time!

The most beautiful concert I've ever been to

Great show only spoilt by people spending the night chatting instead of listening to the music. Very annoying!
