great venue the sound was great also she still has it
I saw Matt for the 4th time on opening night in Evanston and he was absolutely fantastic! Engaging, funny, and just, absolutely amazing to listen to such talent. Mr. Nathanson never disappoints! Lisa Loeb, you are incredible!
I'm glad they played locally, I've always wanted to see them.. The university venue held 1,000 people, and I believe every seat was filled. It was a nice evening all around with the auditorium filled with toad music.
They did a nice job of it, but they're not my cup of tea. Apparently, they've been to the venue before, and plenty of people clapped loudly upon them entering the stage.
Awesome show. Been waiting 33 years to see them and I was not disappointed at all.
Venue provided intimate setting for a great show. Toad the Wet Sprocket was fantastic. Playing some of the lesser know songs during start of show and then ramping up to the hits in 2nd half of show. Highlights include a drum solo with 2 guys on the same set of drums in perfect synchronization. The opener Jacko-Pierce was also very good but this did leave me to my one complaint, with older bands come older crowds, and there is not much crowd participation. Most don't stand for the bulk of the show and I actually feel bad for the artists as there isn't the energy you crave/need from the crowd. Otherwise outstanding show and would highly recommend the venue and both artists.
He put in an amazing show!
Loved it. Great setting. Magical evening.
Colin is fantastic musically. His guitar playing and vocals are outstanding. However, his casual nature and storytelling really make the show as he shares details from his life as they relate to his songs. He is legitimately funny and entertaining. Go see this guy!
Outstanding show! She never disappoints.
Wow! Just wow! First time seeing Mavis Staples and what a wonderful venue for a amAzing cause.
Excellent show, nice theater. Could have listened longer.
nice show. it revolves around the two artists engaged in music and conversation. both artists had equal billing and music. i would have liked to have heard more MCC music however
How do two beloved artists share a concert stage. I was envisioning an opening act followed by another (main?) act. None of that here...
Instead, they came to sing / play music together as two friends sharing their renditions of other artists songs (End of Innocence by Don Henley and Bruce Hornsby, Catch the Wind by Donovan, etc.) and interspersing many of their individually created songs.
In most cases they performed together either with both on guitar or with one providing harmony or backing vocals: what an absolute musical pleasure.
I was particularly drawn into Shotgun Down the Avalanche which is one of my long-term favorites of Shawn Colvin. Here I heard two excellent musicians sharing their best in guitar and voice. I had never seen Mary Chapin Carpenter play in unison with Shawn Colvin and was frankly blown away with her prowess. Note: I love Shawn Colvin's guitar playing and consider her one of the best!
Finally, I own all the albums / CDs by each artist and through hours of listening and now watching via YouTube I consider them to be friends/ fellow travelers.
Keep on writing, playing, and singing. You are both great.
It was an excellent show well worthed.
