Jeffrey is brilliant. Anyone who has listened to him knows that. But something is different, now. He is sharper and has taken another step forward in his writing. His band is now full and they are a freaking blast. There are a couple tunes in there that could explode with the indie market. The only criticism I would have is the sound levels, but that is easily corrected and likely changes from show to show. It's extremely important for Jeffrey's vocals to above the other instruments. At times the violin made it hard to understand the vocals. That's it. That's my whole critique, and really, it's a compliment. This guy is as important to music as anyone alive. He is totally unique and original and will make you feel like a little kid listening to their parent read a story. He is so funny that at times I feel like I'm in a Seth Rogan movie, and so serious at times that I feel like I'm learning from the wise man on the mountain top. I'll see Jeffrey Lewis every year, at least once, until he stops doing it or until I die. I would like to see him two or three times a year, and someday I will. But for now, I'm very glad that St. Louis is on his tour. I'll go to every show.
