If you get the chance to see this band then do so. I was introduced to them as OMD's support last year. Flawless and fabulous. Jocelyn's vocals are amazing and backed by such a fantastic group of musicians.
Well what can I say....Maverick Sabre was on point .... great vocals and lyrics and got the crowd involved too .... this guy is superb!! ... would definitely go to see him again.
The venue though small was great too. Made the performance seem more personal.. staff on the bar were excellent.
Fab night . Dreadzone guys friendly and chatty as always and put in a great set
Great band to see live, new tracks from the album had some bangers and threw in a couple of oldies for the faithful. Love them and will see them again in January.
Fab. Much stronger songs than the band they were supporting. One to watch when the debut album drops next year.
Absolutely incredible, the live vocals and music was everything! Such an incredible band! The venue was also super pretty and really intimate which made the gig 10 times better! Would deffo recommend going to see crawlers!!!
It’s been rewarding following the musical development of Marika Hackman across five studio albums spanning the past nine years, and her fifth album ‘Big Sigh’ is probably her best yet. Her album launch event at Rough Trade, Bristol, showcased several of the new songs, with a few favourites from earlier albums, and confirmed the strength of her songwriting, singing and playing on the latest material. These launch events are nicely relaxed, and the fact that Marika was having a few difficulties with the tuning of her guitar and remembering the words of one song simply added to the informality of the evening. The live set lasted just 40 minutes, after which Marika moved to the front desk to sign albums for the audience. I would have loved to hear more from the new album but with a sold-out venue of 200 waiting to meet Marika, and a full UK tour heading our way this Spring, I can see why we only got a taster of the new album. But the evening left me looking forward to seeing Marika when she returns to Bristol in March to play at Strange Brew.
A lot of waiting involved but ultimately an enjoyable evening. Thurston’s reading of a small section of his book really brought it to life and the guy knows how to talk.
The signing queue was loooong but only because he was making the time to talk to everyone so can’t really complain about that even though I had to leave before I reached the end. Looking forward to reading the book over the hols.
It was my first time to watch a gig at Rough Trade Bristol and I had fun. It's a nice little venue, as you can see by the photo. Ruarri, Naomi and Harry were on form as usual and treated us to the new album 'Excuse Me While I Vanish'. Great musicians playing great music. An unexpected treat before the tour later this autumn.
In case you don't know, William The Conqueror play a sort of bluesy rock with thoughtful lyrics by Ruarri Joseph, often with a cryptic autobiographical basis that makes the songs interesting no matter how many times you listen. The records sometimes feature other musicians, but they tour as a tight 3 piece band. Have a listen.
Had seen Jim Bob few weeks before in same venue. Not quite the chat but her voice was chilling. So clear and beautiful with her piano playing. Crowd was so silent but I wish they left their phones at home. Last song was just a sea of mobile phones
Really enjoyable and well worth it, great venue and Jim Bob was in too form
Cracking gig. Waited a long time to see them and they didn't disappoint. Eraser and Terrain to end was epic stuff. Fort who supported were really good too. Come back soon!
Such an amazing little venue (200 capacity) the lads blew the place away gave out their latest album and did a meet and great at the end of their setlist. Great night!
Very intimate venue. Cracking performance in a 100 max capacity I'd say.
So gladi'vecaught them. Lucky to get a ticket I guess, as they've sold out the vastly bigger adjacent SWX venue at the end of Feb.
Great gig! We saw them first at Dot to Dot and this was even better. Sound quality at Rough Trade was really good too! Hope they come back to Bristol soon!
Superorganism were awesome, the venue was perfect and personal. The ambience of the store and small bar really set us up for a cute performance of new songs and classics. I would gladly see these dudes again. Superfun superhappy superorganism.
My second time seeing Olivia and it was just as special as the first, new music too! “Growth” indeed x
This band are going places. Lia has an amazing voice and presence. Great to meet them after the gig too, very humble and pleasant to talk to. The album is a belter and I can’t wait for the Electric Ballroom gig next month
The show was canceled due to Covid but it would have been 5 stars!
So this was my birthday present to myself and it was my best birthday ever. Absolutely amazing concert, short but so beautiful, so emotional and what a guy Dermot Kennedy is... I am so in love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
