Sony Hall

1) The Guy at the mixing board did a superb job! 2) Marty and the guys were in Top Form! They sounded like they were all 22-years-old! 3) The first half of the show emphasized the classics - "Reptile"; "There's No Reason"; "Columbus"; and on & on! It was one great song after another! 4) They saved the haunting, enigmatic "Destination" for the second half of the show. 5) They then played 2 or 3 new songs - which were actually quite appealing! 6) The crowd was in full-throat and very, very enthusiastic! I got the feeling that Marty Wilson-Piper was a little surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reception they received! 7) Of course, they played "Under the Milky Way" 2nd-to-last! When I say everyone sang along, I mean EVERYONE sang along - perhaps Marty got a little misty-eyed - I think the rapidly formed bond with the audience really affected him! 8) They chose not to play 2 of their Great Songs: "Spark", which is THE song about the Life-Force . . . "No repairs are needed, JUST - A - SPARK!" & "Grind" - the entire song is like an exquisite understatement, especially considering that the band stops playing at one point & a single piano deftly arises out of the Silence, as if Frederic Chopin had written the piano part just for The Church! 9) They ended with "Tantalized", which was amply tantalizing! This concert was perhaps 1 of the 10 best I've ever attended . . . and I've mindfully attended at least 2,500 concerts, since about the age of 13! Superb! Rocking at times. Nuanced at other times. What a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday week. It was my first time at Sony Hall in NYC and although seating was a bit tight, it was a great environment to see a musical event. And what an event. The place, which holds about 500 seated guests plus standing room around the bar, was sold out. The band, the Motor City Revue was unbelievable. One classic Motown hit after another.The crowd was totally involved and all seemed to have a great time.

Walking into Sony Hall I received a warm welcome from the staff and graciously guided to my seat of choice. There was a nice blend of elegance, unique historic architecture alongside the grand marble staircase and stylish ambiance. The extraordinary talented musicians, of the “Summer Horns” performance was entertaining, funny and energetic! They chose a nice balance of songs to capture all age groups. The sound team at Sony Hall was so disappointing. Patch + sounded awful, I went to this show alone and met a few random people there. At least a few people were visibly laughing at how off the acoustics sounded. Even the beginning of Poison Girl Friends set was off. Computerwife was saved, but anyways PGF put on a great show I definitely needed to see her.

Kirk Whalum put on such a performance along with his with his wonderful band. His stories, heartfelt and some funny, were a joy to hear. He is a well-rounded musician who knows how to engage his audience in his show. The entire evening, inside SONY HALL with all the beautiful colored lights sparkling, was pure magic, thanks to the wonderful Kirk Whalum.

Norman Brown was awesome! And his backup band was on point! The only suggestion I have is for Sony Hall to improve the sound system as the sound was not not good. Way too loud and lacking clarity creating distortion at times. Perhaps have a sound check technician sit in the audience once the show begins so they can hear what the audience hears and make the adjustments .

Gino was awesome! He was singing great! The band was also excellent, and Gino jumped in on a small drum kit a few times during the night, and also on guitar for a few songs. I was very happy with the venue and the music. I would definitely go to see him again if he came back to the area,

The show was awesome. I am a huge fan and recognized all but 1 tune. They started on time, the crowd was involved and Maysa just put the cherry on top. Each musician was also allowed to do individual solo. Was my 1st time seeing them live in concert, would highly recommend. Hats off 2 Bluey as he continues to help new and upcoming musicians develop.

I liked the venue. Close enough walk to and from Grand Central Station. Chris Kirkpatrick and O-Town were great. The food was good but we had to ask for forks several times and ate salad with our hands and eventually was able to eat the chicken cutlet and greens. I liked where we sat for our VIP seating.

My first time going to a Pop 2000 Tour. I went because Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC was in it. O-Town was incredible. I like that the Sony Hall had seating and conveniently located a few blocks from Grand Central Station which allow us to take Metro North from the suburbs. I saw past tour shows on social media and knew what to expect. I was hoping for a surprise appearance from another *NSYNC member but there wasn't and that's ok. I also liked that the venue offered food although we ate most of our food with no forks which came out late after we asked for cutlery when we were served our non-finger food (salad, chicken, cooked veggies) considering we got there early when doors opened because no assigned seating but there was an assigned section. I hope to see more *NSYNC member performances in the tri-state area, at ticket prices within my financial reach, I bought 2 VIP seating tix and I thought the price was fair.

Avery Sunshine 6/3/23 Sony Hall NYC- I've seen the greatest female R&B singers live EVER- Aretha, Patti, Chaka, Diana, Gladys, Tina, Stephanie Mills, Millie Jackson, Teena Marie, Ledisi, Ruth Brown, LaVern Baker, etc. and I am telling you- and I'm jaded- Avery Sunshine could hold her own with all of them. This woman just comes out and kills every time you see her live. A joyful noise, if you will. With her husband on guitar, son on drums, and a topnotch bass player named Detox out of Atlanta, this is a true indie music powerhouse whose set flows seamlessly from her own poignant songs to rousing covers that she makes her own to blow the roof off the place gospel in an hour 35-minute set. That the joint was only 2/3 filled on a Saturday is criminal; she is still a talent deserving wider exposure, if you will. Simply put, you'll walk out happier than when you walked in after one of her shows. I just love Avery Sunshine, whose name is ever so fitting; she's like a ray of sunshine that just lifts you up and sends you back out into the night happy.

Tye was amazing and the concert was anointed. I was only there for two hours but appreciated his energy, his creativity and the Word he provided in between song selections. Definitely one of the best concerts I have ever attended. My only wish was that it started earlier as there was a two hour gap between when doors opened to when the show started. And for those of us standing, it was a little rough lol. But Tye is phenomenal and I will see him anytime he visits my city.

The legend Roy Ayers graced us with 2 classics before GZA came on and did his thing. Big Daddy Kane came in the middle of his set and did a few songs as well. All the performers kept us entertained. Overall, it was a great night of music in the greatest city in the world!

The show was awesome and intimate. Marc sure does know how to keep the fans engaged. Loved every bit of it! What is really cool is that Marc was outside the venue talking to some fans before the show so I took a picture of them. I didn’t have the nerve to ask him to take a picture with us though. Darn! He’s so cool and down to earth! We met some people really awesome people while waiting in line to get in. We got there early (the first ones) and it made the waiting go so fast. I loved it! The Ardmore Music Hall bathroom was clean, service at the bar was good as well. I’m just glad we had balcony seats (the view was great). I wouldn’t want general admission because I wouldn’t have been able to stand for that long during the concert but they did get extra attention. I would definitely like to go to another concert of his next time he’s in the surrounding area (we traveled 1 1/2 hours to get there).

This was my first time attending the Sony music Hall. It was a most wonderful experience. The venue was beautiful and gave an old classic 1920s or 30s jazz club vibe. The blue lights and the strobes set the mood. The hall was intimate yet spacious enough for there to be room for everyone to enjoy themselves I had a VIP table right next to the stage where I could be up close and personal with Eric. I took a lot of pictures and Eric was a class act as always. Super talented super funny and down to earth he made the audience feel comfortable and laugh all night long as well as sing along to his greatest hits. There was also a highlight in the show where he chose a couple of the audience to come up on stage and play a game on Simon says. When he gave the command Simon says turn around to the young lady, while her back was turned her boyfriend was behind her on one knee with an engagement ring. She turned around and he proposed to her in front of hundreds. It was so emotional. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Thankfully she said yes. I will come to this Hall again in a heartbeat. The food is a little on the pricey side but other than that it was a perfect evening.

All the years I've been going to see BBVD I can honestly say I've never seen a bad show, not even a mediocre one. Their always high energy, great music that will get the heaviest of wallflowers to tap their feet. Sony Hall seems to be a perfect fit for thier NYC home .. As BB Kings is now closed for good. You wanna experience pure happiness? Go see these guys

Best night of my life, her show was the only break I had from the pain I was going through at that moment i felt happy, when she played my favorite song jupiter I cried! meeting her was the best wonderful food and stuff at the concert i’d definitely see her again! I met her as well after a year of waiting

It’s been 5 years since I saw Dom and was extremely excited to see him. He performed classic from the Yellow Album , From the Westside with Love Pt II , Get Home Safely and the new album. His set was short and the venue was pretty empty. He did have good energy performing , and I had fun overall.
