The Dangerous Summer and Anberlin were incredible! Been a long time fan of Anberlin, and being able to see them was a dream come true. Never heard of The Dangerous Summer or Copeland but I’m glad to have had the experience to see them live. Even though Copeland wasn’t my cup of tea.
I unfortunately lost my wallet and was allowed back inside to check after the doors were locked. Kudos to the kind men inside who tried to help me.
The opening act was forgettable. There were audio issues early on in Bauhaus’ performance. At least one audience member was removed for inappropriate behavior. Those were the only negatives. Peter Murphy after all of these years is still an absolute musical god! I began listening to Bauhaus in the 80s; having the opportunity to share time & space was fulfilling. The classic architecture of the venue & the stage lighting enhanced the goth experience. I cannot wait to indulge once more with Bauhaus
This was a phenomenal show! High energy from start to finish, starting with the bubbly Afro-Cuban duo, Okan! R y G commanded the stage playing several selections from their recent recording: Between thoughts…A New World. They really brought us to our feet when they revisited earlier hits including Diablo rojo, Tamacun and Hanuman—-for these they left the stage and joined the audience! So Cool! Lighting was creative, R y G’s affection for their fans is apparent and they looked like they were having fun every minute (as we’re we!). All together a fantastic performance—and, as older fans, we did not leave the venue with ringing ears! It was just the right amount of loud! Thank You!
The event was handled well, though a little confusingly. There should be directions in the email received from the facility re: will-call that if you are on a VIP for one of the artists, that you don't have to join the giant will-call line that already wrapped around 2/3 of the block almost 2 hours before doors.
I'm giving the entire experience a 5, though I felt that The Athenaeum could have handled concessions a little better, they were overpriced - like movie theater priced. When you're not allowed to bring your own liquids, and there's inadequate airflow, a bottle of water should not cost $5 and only be accessible by running through a crowd or by signaling staff that you're about to pass out. As for the staff themselves, they did wonderfully with the setup they had to work with. They removed several people for what appeared to be medical issues (overheating I think) during the final performance, and did it quickly and quietly.
Halocene was a once in a lifetime show that I will always remember, especially with how much my two kids enjoyed it. I hope to catch them again next time they're in the northeast, and would return to The Athenaeum Theater if that's where they decided to play. The same goes for Icon for Hire and Citizen Soldier.
Citizen Solider was beyond belief once again... Jake (lead vocals) in his dedication to his fans went on with the show despite battling laryngitis, paused the show twice to ensure fans were safe with the extreme heat, and connected person to person afterwards. Truly a unique and welcoming 'group therapy' atmosphere! Going again tomorrow in PA!
Al is a master all unto his own. Of course Gumbi and his guys all compliment him so well. They just don't make music like this anymore, and they certainly don't play it like Al does.
venue was cool and menzingers put on a great show!! my selfish feedback is that they skipped Casey and I can’t seem to tell but still a knockout show!
Always a great time with TMBG! This show was 2 sets, all of Flood (broken into sets of 3-5 songs), several other favorites, a couple new ones from their latest release "Book," 3-pc horns, and two encores. Very glad to see Flans looking recovered from his accident. Solid backing band, as usual. The first set was probably the weirdest (musically) I've seen them play, but still fun. Sound was decent, not great, but it could have been different depending on your seats. Tons of patter between songs, most of it very funny, some of it just regularly funny.
Packed house at The Athenaeum, which is very, very old with steep sides and an even steeper back wall. Intimate enough, yet a curious departure from the Newport where they've almost exclusively played. This was the first show I'd seen here. One suggestion: have separate bars for beer and mixed drinks. Everything would go much faster for the beer buyers and you'd sell more of it. Waiting behind customers who were trying to debate the merits of various whiskeys with bartenders was a drag.
The venue was a bit odd with tons of stairs and secret passage ways, but the show was amazing! The bands were all great and the venue staff was very friendly.
All the bands (thousand below, make them suffer, dayseeker, and bad omens) all put on an incredible show and had amazing stage presence and sound quality. Would absolutely see any of these bands again, and this show was easily in my top three shows I’ve seen.
I’ve been going to shows since I was a preteen and I’m now 27. This was the best show I’ve ever been too, all of the bands were amazing, the venue was awesome, and bad omens put on a phenomenal performance.
Fantastic show! Loved it all except for the guy behind me put his hands on my hips and playing with my hair, then he started massaging my neck and shoulders 🙄😡
It was a sold out show and we were packed in like sardines and I couldn’t move away! I was 3rows from the stage.
Great venue and show! I'm sad to say the Farewell Tour was my first and last time seeing mewithoutyou in person. Truly an incredible band. The atmosphere and experience were unique among concerts I've attended. Bravo!
The best show I've ever been to. The energy was electric, the bands and the crowd fed off each other all night. It was beautiful and chaotic. As a show with this lineup should be.
My wife and I attended as a gift from our son who is a very enthusiastic fan and saw the same show in NC. I loved the opening band Melt who served as a great opening act to prepare for Sammy Rae and the Friends.
When Sammy Rae and the Friends took the stage it was obvious the level of energy on-stage and in the crowd amped up. My wife and I were easily the older folks in the crowd but we still very much appreciated the energy, connection with the audience and the messages. At one point I whispered to my wife that I wondered if the band kept the energy so high for the entire concert. They did!
Every single band member was an outstanding musician/vocalist and we could not have been happier. We will absolutely see Sammy Rae and the Friends again!
One final note - the venue was very cold. Turn up the heat a little!
The Band was Great! One of the best i've seen. They were so good, that we and everyone there stayed till the end.........even though it was winter and the building had no heat. 39 degrees in shorts and a polo.
My first show ever and they did not disappoint! Ashland, The Word Alive, and I See Stars were great! And OLN put on such a great show! Thank you!!
First time seeing a show at this venue. It's a really nice set up. Unfortunately there were some sound issues with feedback at times that you could tell was irritating David J and Peter Murphy. Love the setlist. Could not have been happier. So good! The opening acts were good and fit in with the genre. All in all a great time.
A good performance but there were some technical issues with feedback that seemed to be problematic at times. Good warm up acts and lots of energy. I would have liked to have heard a few of their more musical songs but the mains ones were there. A good show and glad I went. I would have given 4 stars for the band, just 3 because of the tech issues.
I wish they would have played Hate Me but overall I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The show was probably the best I’ve attended in quite some time. Fantastic band live and superb to their fans. Can’t wait for a return show, I’ll be there once again!!
