How the show was started was surprising. Most artists with new music coming out begin their set with the new music. Because of the heat the band assumed the a much larger crowd would join in once they heard the band playing, so the first three songs were country cover songs. The stage was with minimal lighting (no lighting effects), and no screen with pictures in the background, so the focus was on the music. The band also performed with two fewer members than last year……her mom who performed back up vocals, and a gentleman who played what I refer to as a twang guitar played in some country songs. After seeing the in person crowd, I can understand the low budget. The concert started with maybe 50 folks, and drifted upwards to maybe 150 by the end of the set. So a very intimate set with a few folks dancing in the very front. The band continued to make a few newbie mistakes, such as not introducing the names of songs, and literally no stories about the songs. I recall a story that Ed Sheeran told last September during his concert in which he said when he first started he could only get two or three folks to actually turn and watch his performance. As he persisted, slowly a few more, and then a few more started joining in until he set an attendance record at Levi stadium. Despite pretty solid songs, Jessica is struggling to get more heads watching her performances. Maybe the place to start is fewer cover songs, and if no screen, some poster like background with something nice to look at during the performance or the name of the band.

Awesome as always!!! Truly one of the greats. He definitely doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Anytime josh is in the area I will definitely be there.
