The show was epic! There are so many songs to hear, so it was bit of a let-down to not hear a few. The light show was great, sound was awesome, and we were in the VIP seats for the outdoor venue, which added an entire next level experience. The crowd was electric and really added to the fun of the show. I will see him every time he comes to the Chi!
I loved everything about this event. Of course, i miss Scott Weiland, the original lead singer of STP. However, the current lead is fabulous and brings atrong vocals and energy. The band is multi talentedParking is easy and close. The venue is well laid out, and everything is easy to find and get to. The lake absorbs the wonderful sound as it passes from the stage through the ears of the listeners. This is an outdoor venue, so I suggest a cover-up of some kind when the sun goes down. The skyline of Chicago can be seen in the distance. The stage is viewed easily from every angle. I've decided going forward. My favorite location is the grandstand. I recommend the northerly island venue and delight in their great talent lineup.
I loved all the bands that performed! Falling in Reverse never disappoints.
Seating was tight as they used fold down chairs and zip tied them together. We had several people who were of larger statue that could not fir in their seats. I recommend upgrading to the VIP section or the side bleachers if you can't stand for hours in the pit.
Soul Asylum got the party started accompanied by the perfect 80° "ish weather on this September night. With Lake Michigan behind northerly island, the music carried its notes over the air, rippling along the waves. STP rocked their old and some new tunes. Sadly, Scott Weiland is gone, but the new lead singer did a mighty fine job. They played with fervor and sang a tribute song to the memory of their original failed leader. LIVE came on and sang a mix of old and new tunes. The music was spot on, parking nearby for a price. Lots of food and beverage choices. And, of course, no concert would be complete without concert gear. I like northerly island for concerts, the sound and lighting are fantastic. The seats in the bleachers and stadium are roomy and fairly comfy. The bathrooms are air conditioned, flushable, and with sinks for washing up. Next summer, I'll return.
I have been a fan of Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan since they're albums first came out, 22 years ago and it was an absolute dream come true. It was so much fun and an absolute amazing performances. Girlfriends, whom I had heard a couple of their songs, gave an amazing performance as well. It was the best concert I have ever been to!
Some lady got physical with me. The beer vendor was really disruptive during a performance so oh well I moved on only to be next to fans of the headliner who wouldn’t shut up. If you’re going to see AFI; do it when they are headlining their own show or supporting a headlining band with better fans.
I was concerned about parking. I read the horrors of parking $$$ and Uber $$. However, I took a chance, arrived at 5pm ish, and I got $40 parking just steps from the island. I first went with a friend about a decade ago when the island was in its infancy. I was thrilled to see a vip section, ADA accomdations, plentiful trailer ac WC for men and women. Lots of food and drink items. There were 4 bands that played. I even bought a bush t-shirt. All bands were very good. As the sun went down, it got chilly, as the stadium was right on the lake front. Therefore, i recommend you bring a hoodie or some such to cover up. The seats in the risers are without arms, fairly comfortable, and have decent leg room. I was thrilled at the fabulous acoustics. It was a definite upgrade over the years. My concerns with the parking were eliminated, and I will definitely attend this venue again during the summer months. I recommend these bands and the venue.
I would've liked less of the new FOB-sounding new singles and more of the FTWHH era music - but it was the perfect setlist for the line up with FYS and TSSF. Perfect vibes, not sold out so not cramped, plus sunny, 70, and breezy the whole show. 6/5 would go back in time to re-experience and significantly looking to ADTR's next concert so I can bring the total to 4 shows attended. 🤘
Such a great show! Beck is so multitalented and obviously didn’t have problem playing the hits that everyone loves mixed in with a few of his slower songs from Sea Change. He is absolutely electric on stage, I preferred his performance to Phoenix but the 2 are complementary. Sir Chloe wasn’t worth the time in my opinion but they may evolve with age. Beck rocked and I hope to see him again!!
Taking back Sunday is amazing!! After a failed attempt to see them several years ago in Minneapolis at first avenue (I was dumb and didn’t do the digital download ticket thing, only paper tickets) well I lost them. Spent the whole day/night in the hotel bawling my eyes out. I’ve loved them since I was 12 years old, words can’t even describe my love for them and the music they put out. Anyhoo- fast forward a few years later and omg they killed it at sad summer fest Chicago, Adams energy is flipping amazing, the whole band just gave me chills the entire performance. Definitely have to see them again
O.A.R. was the first act and they were fabulous. Seeing them live made me realize how many songs I knew.
The Goo Goo Dolls did their typical awesome play with speed, song to song, and made it through the sweaty night.
From where I sat, (Section 101) the crowd was engaged and there was a lot of sing along.
I absolutely LOVED the venue! Wide open and had a nice breeze coming off of the lake instead of being enclosed, hot, and sweaty in the pit. Ghost was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and so was Amon Amarth! I'll definitely be going back to this venue at some point and I'll be going for more Ghost concerts as well. Even after all of the concerts I've been to, I have to say that this was my absolute TOP favorite concert!!
I'm relatively new to Ghost, having only just started listening to their music a month ago, but I got so hooked that I had to come out to Chicago and check them out live. Man, I am so glad that I did! This was by far one of the best shows I have ever been to. Tobias and the band had incredible stage presence, strong theatrics, and just an incredible performance overall. Ghost is 100% now on my must-see list anytime they're in town. Their opener, Amon Amarth, is a bit heavier than what I typically am used to but their performance was also excellent and I'll definitely be listening more to them.
The venue itself is very hit and miss. Northerly Island is a bit of a pain to get to for anyone who doesn't live in Chicago proper, so be sure to give yourself a LOT of extra time to deal with the commute. Public transit is not impossible, but very lengthy and exhausting. If you choose to drive in, be ready for parking in the $40 range and still need to walk a good distance to the venue. The Huntington Bank Pavilion is a nice outdoor venue with a great view of the stage and city...if you pay up for premium seats. Anyone in the side sections will have limited visibility, plus all seating at ground level is flat (so good luck if you're short). The seats are just folding chairs zip tied together, so if you do need to sit at any point be ready to get very comfortable with your neighbors. Overall it is a nice venue, but could do with some upgrades to seating and crowd control.
Absolutely amazing. So much fun! Not a bad seat in the house. Can’t wait to see him again next time. The venue is just beautiful. Can’t wait to see another show here soon. My first Billy strings, will not be my last. Thanks for the Father’s Day show good sir!!!
Northerly Island was very good with communication and keeping everyone up to date with what is going on with the show.
Paul Oakenfold was fun, he promised and 80's/90's set and that is what it was! He knew his audience.
Pet Shop Boys I have seen many time over the years, one of my all time favorites. This was one of the best PSB shows I have seen in years. Neil's voice was effortless and the setlist was near perfection and the visuals were amazing! I hope they bring the Dreamland Tour to the US next year!?
New Order I have seen a few times before. They can be a little low key. Even though Bernard had a cold and his voice was a little off, this was the most I have ever seen him interact with the crowd, he may not have felt good be he was giving it his all and having a good time!
Such an incredible tour, so sad it is only 13 dates! It was worth the 2 year covid wait.
She has a stage b and gets closer to the audience. Very kind of her. True professional entertainer Alicia Keys is. I just couldn’t find the shirt vendors. I would of love to have a hoodie. Worth going to see her show and band. Near the end she addressed the audience for being patient after canceling twice. We understand Alicia. Peace everyone from Chicago.
Awesome performers that made it very known that they wanted everyone to be safe during the show. The crowd was so full of energy but any time anyone fell down or dropped something the way was cleared and phone flashlights were out to help. Lost my phone keys and glasses in a pit and ended up getting all 3 back!
It was incredible to say the least!! You just HAD to be there. Even though it was 2 hours long, not once do you feel tired from jumping, standing, swaying, dancing, screaming or singing. BTR was out to KILL when they announced this tour because they matched the audience's energy, and let's just say it was W I L D.
Great music, great weather, no mask hassle, your choice, Josh is The Man and can SING! Band is awesome. Love the new songs. Can hear Howling Wolf influence in one. Never ending drum solo was amazing. Wish Sam had more front time, but he’s still awesome and barefoot. Warm-up bands were just right too.. different and played for an appropriate amount of time. Not too much or too little. Not all sections are elevated so be aware. 5% masked people. Never felt so good physically and spiritually after a concert. Wide awake.
I WILL ALWAYS GIVE ANTHONY HAMILTON AND THE HAMILTONES 5 STARS WHEREVER THEY PERFORM. I HAVE SEEN THEM 10x ALREADY AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE 11Th and 12th and so forth. I NEVER GET ENOUGH OF SEEING HIM LIVE! HIS MUSIC AND VOICE HAS PLAYED SUCH A DIRECT SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN MY LIFE AND RELATIONSHIP! HE IS THE ANTHEM AND DEFINES MY RELATIONSHIP IN ALL ASPECTS OF SPEAKING THROUGH HIS STORIES IN HIS MUSIC! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED HIM TO SING AT MY WEDDING AND FINALLY AFTER 17Yrs. WE'RE DOING IT NEXT YEAR IN AUGUST! NOW I HAVE TO TRY AND FIND A VOICE REPLICA TO SING, WHICH I KNOW I WILL BE SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW AND PROBABLY WON'T SUCCEED, BUT I HAVE TO TRY SINCE I CAN'T GET THE REAL THING....WE LOVE YOU ANTHONY! THIS IS US AT THE CONCERT IN JULY AT THE HUNTINGTON VENUE!
