Sublime, entertaining, soulful, immersive, a pure delight - Ian is a consummate professional and uber talented musician. Can't say enough 💓
Highly recommended but hope you don’t get my seat next time…lol. An amazing life experience and will remember it forever as one of the best concerts I’ve been to since mid-1980’s!! Ian is one of a kind talent with a voice as smooth as silk and reminiscent to the beautiful soul music days of Sam Cooke and the like, in my opinion. Only a few songs I did not know but they were very well liked and I will endeavour to listen to them in the near future and anticipate adding to my Ian Moss and cold chisel playlists!! The only other concerts that come close to this one and quality venue were Lenny Kravitz and ludovico Einaudi at Meyer music bowl around 5yrs ago and cold chisel at the old festival hall in mid-2000’s, which I also highly recommend. Thx for reading. Troy - TroyStedwell@hotmail.com
An evening with an absolute legend. Sang and played jazz/blues standards and especially great jazz standards written in 1951. Fantastic band with 1 guitar, 1 drummer, 1 double bass and 1 pianist/ keyboard player.. really great good interpretations of some jazz classics and some music from that up and coming band, cold chisel. Tuckers daughter is definitely a memory. Definitely be back in Bow River again.
Emma Donovan & Paul Grabowsky, with a talented line up of musicians at Melbourne Recital Centre was a moving and beautiful concert of gospel songs and stories from Emma about their origins and meanings for her family back in the mission days. I hope there is recording available one day; it was so poignant and powerful.
Fantastic experience might be the best concert I've went to these past few years
Hania is a rare talent whose openness with her audience makes her all the more endearing. Right at the pinnacle of ethereal neo-classical music. Can’t wait for her next album and her next visit to Australia.
Rufus was in great form, no band, just himself and his guitar and piano. And Folk Bitch Trio, who were brilliant. They were the support act, and they returned to sing several songs with Rufus, and then the final encore.
He has such a rich repertoire from which to choose - he opened with Agnus Dei and closed with Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk. The highlights for me were The Art Teacher and Dinner at Eight. I don't think there's too much to say about his voice, to me it's very distinctive, and his presence is utterly charismatic. There was a small element of drama when he broke one of his fingernails playing I'm Out of the Game at the start of the show!
He wore the best sequined shoes and a couple of brooches on his all-black outfit - so Rufus!! He's brilliant and not to be missed if you have the opportunity to see him.
A unique talent. His voice is something truly special. You must see him live to really appreciate how good he is.
Melbourne Recital Centre would have to be one of the best venues in Melbourne. No matter where you sit you can see and hear everything very clearly. Martha Wainwright gave a warm and often humorous appearance and was likewise warmly received by her audience. She sang songs from most of her albums, tinkered briefly on the piano and read short excerpts from her memoir, Stories I Might Regret Telling You. The 90 minute performance went very quickly, then she came out for some more due to the encore calls and then without amplification she and the band signed off with a nice acapella ending. Then she went to the foyer and signed autographs and had photos taken with fans. This was a customer friendly performer and worth seeing again.
Absolutely fabulous show! Wish I had booked to go the night prior as well. Amazing musicians and can’t wait til they come back
Fantastic night, loved the venue also. Waited a long time for this show and it was worth the wait . Loved every minute of it.
Incredible performance!!! Kimbra had me crying, grooving in my seat, laughing and smiling all in one night. Well done K! You are a true performer ✨
The sound was great in the venue and they put on a great show. One of the most talented musicians I’ve seen live.
During the show I thought I was listening to Neil Diamond.
Thank you for a great show.
awesome concert!! the venue was super personal and easy to find. jeremy is incredibly good live, with heaps of crowd interaction and amazing live vocals and the support act was amazing, shout out adam melchor!
Great concert, some old and some new ones and great to see both the Pauls live after such a long wait
Fantastic night, loved the venue also. Waited a long time for this show and it was worth the wait . Loved every minute of it.
Sublime. Moss played an absolute cracker of a concert, his voice and incredible guitar skills beautifully showcased in the Murdoch hall. Generous set list, with all the classics you’d expect (Tucker’s Daughter, Flame Trees, Saturday Night) and some exceptionally tender interpretations of blues standards (Cry Me a River). An almost religiously moving experience by an artist who seems to be outrageously talented and somehow getting better.
Classic blues with some great slide playing by Ash. Josh Teskey’s vocals complemented Grunwald’s.
Absolutely loved the show. I was lucky enough when I heard they were coming to get tickets at the last minute. I just can't fault these two, nor the band. I'm a bit too sore these days to stand around for too long but I could have sat and just enjoyed Johanna and Klara and the band for ever.
