Spillestedet Stengade
Award winning progressive music venue located in the heart of Nørrebro in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Stengade focuses on the underground, niche, up and coming and hosts approx. 200-250 concerts a year spread over cirka 100 opening nights. The many volunteers are an important lifeblood of the venue. Stengade's vision is to create engaging communities within culture, with music at its core, and to generate a present and inclusive audience experience.
History of Stengade:
The address Stengade is filled with interesting stories. The building was constructed in 1936 in the Functionalism (Funkis) architectural style and is one of the first concrete buildings in Copenhagen. For many years, the building belonged to the Painters' Union of Denmark, but in the 1970s, it was occupied by squatters (slumstormerne), who in 1972 established Stengade 30. In 1996, the building was registered as culturally significant by the Danish Heritage Agency. In 2010 Stengade re-opened as Spillestedet Stengade after Stengade 30 got closed down in 2009.

That was a very very fantastic event. The Location so beautiful. Friendly people. Good Sound. The Staff there are doing the job very good. No frils. And HENGE. So emphatic. Mostly everyone in the audience was "henged" from the first tone of the music they played. I highly recommend to see a concert of HENGE. This was my 3rd in this tour and all the 3 were overwhelming fantastic.
And of course: I recommend to visit Spillestedet Stengade. Did I say that this is a fine location for concerts with close contact to the stage and the artists? Now i did. Go there. Have fun :)
