Only my 2nd Korn show and I loved it. The only thing I would say or add is monitors! Like giant screens so if say ppl are standing in front of you and blocking your view when you need 5 minutes to sit in your seat you can still see what’s happening. Obviously I would love to stand, dance, jump the whole time but 3 weeks post OP it’s not recommended. So please add a way for ppl to see if they need to sit or are vertically challenged
I was skeptical about old Bryan going into the night. He started out differently by coming to the second stage near our seats and got the crowd going with an acoustic of Straight From The Heart. I have seen others use that stage midway through but never to start so kudos to him. He then blasted through almost 3 hours of his full catalog of 16 albums and I was pleasantly surprised how many were not shitty ballads to put me to sleep. The led lights were a bit distracting at times but no seizures thankfully. He hit all my faves and I even added a few more. Felt similar to when we saw Bruce Springsteen but not as iconic internationally but definitely a North American icon. Overall it was a solid show and I would do it again.
I gotta admit, I thought the Sheepdogs as an opener wasn't going to be good. After seeing them at Midway almost 3 years ago, I figured the huge arena would take away from their intimate show and they would shrink on stage. Glad I was wrong as they pumped up the volume, engaged the crowd and got everyone ready for Bryan. Kudos for the boys from Saskatoon as most openers are usually very forgettable but not tonight.
It was a slow burn with only 4 songs recognized and/or liked in the first 45 minutes. Scott Stapp was just full of energy, exuding confidence and pulling the crowd to come along on the journey the band planned for the night. Similar sound issues early on eventually were overcome once the more recognized songs started to hit. And once they started, they didn't end! Just bam, bam, bam, hit after hit, song after song, to the point that the crowd began to drown out Scott and he just kept feeding off of it. He genuinely looked like he was excited to take everyone on the journey with him and I for one am glad I went with him on it.
Mr Ian Thornley is Canada's greatest treasure! After seeing Big Wreck up close and personal April 2022 at Midway, this was a bit of a letdown. Bass was too low, vocals weren't loud enough and some of the song presentation was a bit weird. I think the glass in front of our seats was distorting the sound a bit as well. This was a bonus band for the night so glad I have seen them before otherwise I wouldn't have such a high regard for them.
Tate gave an amazing performance, as did Zara Larson!! Both incredible artists, very entertaining. It was my teenage daughter’s first concert, and it did not disappoint.
My only complaint is the cost of drinks at the venue. I’m not sure how you justify $8.25 for a bottle of Aquafina water!!! My drink was $17.75, with one shot of alcohol. These mark ups are absolutely ludicrous. The tickets are expensive alone, don’t them over charge for beverages!! Unreal.
Several it was a great experience. Thanks to both artists.
It is always easy to write up a review for Mr Ross because he never disappoints. The collaborations on the Beautifully Broken tour are absolutely amazing. Mr Ross is giving 100% to each performance and still maintains his character of kindness and care towards his fans. I encourage anyone who enjoys music and Sound from someone's heart to do your best to attend an event whenever you can
Raine Maida and his friends were amazing!
The concert was a good length. The set list was great (I would have possibly switched out a couple of songs possibly) the light show was amazing, and the surprise switch to the piano at the back of the venue was breathtaking (I was 10 feet from Raine!!!!).
MY only problem was the price of consumables. $8.50 for a Redbull? It broke my cheap heart
When Sarah said "Welcome to the best show you will ever see" she was right. Opening for Kings of Leon? I would have happily watched Phantogram perform for 4 hours straight and skipped the "main act" entirely.
The sound was perfect, the instruments, the vocals, all of it was tight for a live event on a Monday night no less. Their performance of Black Out Days brought tears to my eyes.
The show itself was like an exercise in performance art with emotionally charged powerful music backing it.
Would I see them again? Absolutely
Should you see them? Absolutely!
At Rogers Place on Thursday night for the Rebel Yell Canada 2024 tour, the singer and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens took a six-piece band through a set of hits and deep cuts from the now 40-year-old album, interspersed with a few other notable songs from his career.
Idol had no intention of giving up the goods right at the start. The band kicked off with (Do Not) Stand in the Shadows, an overlooked track from Rebel Yell, before dipping into radio standby Cradle of Love. Flesh For Fantasy was where the run of hits kicked off, the audience heartily singing along to the anthemic chorus. Cage, a more recent number that Idol explained as a reaction to the Covid-19 lockdown, was mind-numbing alt-rock landfill.
Idol’s voice was phenomenal!!! By the time Idol brought the band into full lockstep groove with Mony Mony you could see hints of the young Idol peeking through. Stevens had his moment in the spotlight with the requisite solo guitar, plucking acoustic for a few flamenco exercises that felt like he was impressing everyone at the music shop. Genuinely a great guitarist, but you have to wonder what purpose this serves beyond allowing the singer a rest.
Openers Platinum Blonde were a perfect fit as the evening’s warm-up act.
Now pared down to a three-piece with vocalist Mark Holmes taking on bass duties, they’re still happily dishing out their ‘80s hits. It seemed like they had an unending well to draw from, and Thursday night’s 40-minute show gave you every single inescapable song from Canadian radio: Situation Critical, Crying Over You, Standing in the Dark, Doesn’t Really Matter. From one perspective they all blended into a single song with endless choruses, but from another the band was tight, Holmes was a stage dynamo, and Sergio Galli a rock on guitar. Holmes sound remarkable!! Hasn’t missed a beat since the 80s….Well one song…he openly admitted to making a mistake, but it’s LIVE. What do you expect.
Awesome show / nice to see different dynamics of people at said concert. Trying to hold onto old school - everyone standing, clapping, dancing, just about the music.
Lots people not keen on hockey going on at same time in the ice district. New people visiting not knowing how to get into said show.
Yet an awesome show - Headpins - wow. Foreigner - awesome. Yep old school.
I have always thought Jensen was an incredible songwriter with an amazing voice since I have followed her on TikTok. She proved she is even better than I even thought in a live show as her voice is unexplainably gorgeous. She has a powerful voice. I know she’s newer to the live music scene so I believe her stage presence (her self intro, audience interaction, etc.) can definitely improve but that will come with time, I can’t wait to see how she grows. Beautiful work Jensen, I was a fan before, I’m even more of a fan now.
DM was great. Sound was awesome, band was energetic, drummer was killer, Dave’s & Martin’s stage presence was on point, set list was excellent. This was my first time seeing them and would definitely do so again.
The opener, Young Fathers, was garbage. Sound was muddy and they seemed to rely a lot on backing tracks. One of the singers developed a sour attitude toward the audience. Shook his head a few times, called us out, then later abruptly dropped the mic and walked off stage in a huff.
honestly incredible work by the boys! props to them for putting on an awesome show. can’t imagine how much effort they have to put in to be able to put on a show of that length and maintain the hype energy the whole time! had a great time and it was definitely worth it! :)
I forgot how much I love Nickelback! I thought it would be fun to bring my son to this concert and hadn’t heard their music in a long time, and was able to sing along to the lyrics of most of their older songs without hesitation. It was not only nostalgic for me, but also a bonding experience over good music with my teen. Not to mention, Chad is fun and the whole band was super entertaining. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Thanks for coming to Edmonton and giving us a fabulous show 🥰😊
Even with a bit of cough/throat issue Lee Brice and his band were fabulous! He did some older stuff mixed with new stuff to satisfy all fans. They played as long as time would allow and he really left it all out there for the fans! I've seen him before and once again, he sure didn't disappoint!!
Amazing show! Saw them open for Kenny Chesney twice (Seattle 2018 & Bozeman 2022), and became a big fan of their music, so when they finally came to my hometown I had to get tickets. Was not disappointed at all. Old Dominion knows how to put on one hell of a show. I can't wait to see them again.
Opening bands were fine. Nice to see female-fronted groups being given an opportunity to play major venues.
Greta Van Fleet was a mixed bag. They play well enough but could benefit from a little restraint. Seemed like every third song -- and there were only 12 in the whole concert -- had a 10-minute guitar solo. Yeah, we get it, you can shred. It gets pretty old about 45 mins in. Song choice was a little unusual also. They of course played the three big hits from their debut EP and a couple of stand outs from their following full-length album. Oddly enough they omitted the best two songs from "Anthem of the Peaceful Army" ("When the Curtain Falls" and "Mountain of the Sun") and the single-best song from either LP ("My Way, Soon"). Instead we got some middling tracks that seemed selected to provide a venue for meandering improvisation.
The audience would have benefitted from less self indulgence and more showmanship.
My favourite singer of all time. He was a joy to listen to, as always, but the show was quite short (five songs or so) and it was part of the "before" of the show, which meant that no one was quiet or sitting down.
That doesn't suit his music AT ALL, and so the emotions were lost in the hubub.
His stage set up was so flawless to who he is as a performer, and they had beautifully choreographed lights with their songs.
I want to tell the drummer that I'm sorry, I'm not an idiot, I knew you were throwing me that stick and I froze!! I'm so embarrassed. Thank you, I appreciate it, maybe next time my arms will work.
Great show!! I love the heavy and melodic vocal mix with the crazy drums and lots of heavy guitar.
