For those who found themselves crying during “Believe” and didn’t quite understand why… you’re not alone. Especially if you’re around 50 or younger today, you likely first heard this song as a young listener — when life hadn’t yet carved its deeper truths into you. Back then, it was powerful. Beautiful. But it hadn’t lived inside you yet. And over the years, it did. This song, this masterpiece of writing, melody, and performance, slowly embedded itself into what I can only describe as your auditory DNA. It became a part of you, quietly resonating through the chapters of your life. Criss Oliva passed away. Time marched on. The dream of seeing Savatage live became something we let go of, gently — like an old friend we missed but never expected to see again. And then it happened. A comeback we thought would never come. And when Believe started — with Jon’s raw, aged voice echoing across decades, and Zak’s voice rising beside it — it wasn’t just a song anymore. It was a reunion. Not only with the band… but with every part of ourselves that grew up with this music. In that moment, you were the child who first heard it. And you were the adult who had lived long enough to finally understand it. That flood of emotion? That wasn’t just nostalgia. It was revelation. It was grief. It was healing. It was everything. A once-in-a-lifetime moment. One that defies words… but not this one: Believe.

Wow the guys in Savatage haven’t lost a step after 25 years. Awesome setlist featuring lots of 90s material which I have a new appreciation for. Zak sounded amazing on both his lead songs and Jon Olivia classics. Jon was of course missed but the video tribute was heartfelt and we hope to see him back on stage with the rest of the guys in the future. Don’t miss your chance to see them while you still can
