Eric Johnson once again shows he is undisputed king of tone!
A first time visit to the Holmfirth PictureDrome, which is strange as I only live 20mins drive away!
What a cool venue, with sloped floor giving everyone a clear viewpoint of the performance and WHAT A PERFORMANCE!
Eric showed of his fluid guitar playing skills which covered all styles...rock, jazz, country and also saved a slot of the show for his acoustic songs which the packed crowd showed their appreciation of his prowess and humour especially in Chester the Tribute to Chet Atkins and Song For George.
It was clear that Eric had won the crowd and returned to the stage for two encore's to conclude what was a fantastic evening showcasing the elite in live music.
Although, slightly bitter sweet, as this maybe the final time to witness such talent, as his previous tour was in 2012 and at the grand age of 71 maybe the rigours of touring the world must come to an end at some point. If this was the final time...thanks Eric for your passion for excellence and the memories for me.
I only found out about Elles Bailey a couple of months ago when Radio 2 had Growing Roots as record of the week. I love live music and wanted a gig that wouldn't break the bank at a decent venue
Picturedrome Holmfirth is all that and Elles was great . Good voice , nice to look at and a decent catalogue . Not my usual genre but well worth the listen .
Brilliant gig first time seeing Sophie and first time in Holmfirth . Interacted with the crowd throughout evening sound quality crisp and clear , will be booking again when Sophie plays again
My first time at the Picturedrome. It's a good sized venue. I was stood down at the front, but there looked to be plenty of seating on the balcony.
I hadn't seen Y&T since 1984, and they didn't disappoint. A cracking 2 hour set, they really looked as if they enjoyed themselves too.
Master class in entertainment! They started out with a bang and never let up for almost 90 minutes. The crowd were loving the nostalgia and I’ve never seen so many grins amongst the audience as they relived their youth. Brilliant nights entertainment
The Picturedrome in Holmfirth has steadily improved over the years and must be one of the best venues in the country.
The support, Dom Martin, played a mean guitar but his vocals were indistinct, and unfortunately when Robin Trower hit the stage the vocals were very low down in the mix and almost inaudible.
So after looking forward to seeing Trower I was quite disappointed with the gig. Robin's brilliant guitar playing couldn't make up for it.
Been to The Picturedrome many times and the sound is usually good, but on Saturday it really spoilt my enjoyment of what should have been a fantastic gig.
Great set by Shooglenifty, 1st time hearing them live, played a few favourites, incl Bjorks chauffeur. Also introduced to Garefowl who are new to me, I think they said their 1st album is due shortly.
The Civic is a great venue also, staffed by volunteers on the night as part of the Holmfirth folk festival, look forward to returning.
Saw Kenny at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and what an amazing night. It was party central with everyone up on their feet dancing all night. His voice is as amazing as the early days and the highlight of the evening was I met him in the foyer after the show. What a lovely person he is. It was the first time I've seen him in concert but it won't be the last ❤️
absolutely wonderful. first time id heard of you! you are such an energetic cratsman with beautiful music.Really cheered me up-my kind of music. thank you. We would like to see you back here if possible.
I thought Settle last year was off the scale. Tonight was even better.
The skillset these musicians have is truly awesome. They look like they are having the best time and it comes through in the performance.
The best show I've seen. Highly recommend
Great night of excellent funk/soul music by the stalwarts of 70s/80s disco. Easy to forget how big this band were in the eighties, and here they are playing a small town in West Yorkshire as their last performance on British soil, an emotional evening.
Ace band Hayseed Dixie proper crowd pleasers! Venue Picturedrome awesome with great staff. Support band The Zipheads absolutely fantastic with their psyco/rockabilly tunez can't wait to see these again as soon as! Our party aged 31 up to 64 and all had a blast! Thankx all!
Johnny Marr & his band where on fire. Absolutely brilliant. Fantastic set list. Can not wait to see them all again at piece hall Halifax. & what a gentleman Johnny Marr is .we was staying overnight & having a beer in the beer garden at the side of the picturedrome . He spent at least half an hour talking to his fans & having photos with him great guy. Photo of me & Johnny.
That voice.
One minute super powerful growling then high pitched operatic.
He is superhuman.
Loved him since the Steve Vai days.
To be able to see him down the road at the amazing Holmfirth Picturedrome. I'm so lucky.
Thanks for visiting here Mr Townsend. 🤘
Absolutely mesmerising and stunning performance from an artist well ahead of the game.... Devin has the ability to interweave comedy and brilliant guitar virtuoso with an ease of a maestro.... class.
