Fantastic show. Kurt was hot as ever. We brought a friend who had never heard him live. The look in her face when he sang the first few notes was precious. Joey was on fire as well. We sat right behind him and got to see he was literally bouncing as he played.
An absolutely magnificent performance. Surrounded by 20+ yr olds, the maestro Stanley Clarke guided and pushed and rock and rolled through 5 songs or so. Everyone soloed magnificently and held the audience in a roller coaster of incredible music
Stanley Jordan is an absolute genius, both musically and otherwise and a very sweet person! And the Dakota is the best venue... great people, delicious food, and a classy place.
Eric Marienthal was playing with Lao Tizer as part of the Lao Tizer band. The show was incredible. The band had so much energy. Elliott Yasmin brought awesome vocals. The Dakota is such a wonder venue for excellent music, a very intimate setting where everyone can feel part of the show. It’s one of the reasons I stay in Minnesota.
The Dakota is a small, intimate venue with lots of character. Howie Day was incredible playing a lot of his hits and his entire Australia album while sharing lots of stories along the way.
Gunhild puts on a fantastic show! First chance I’ve had to see her live. Hoping to have many more opportunities. All the energy she puts out is great to see. Her enthusiasm for her craft is unrivaled. Hope she returns to this area often.
Katie was great as usual. Her voice was good and the collaboration at the end of MCK set was fantastic. In general the microphones were too low. Couldn't hear very well especially when they were talking. Katie good...Dakota Venue...not very good.
The show was amazing! Steve Cole is a wonderful saxophonist and his passion for the music can be felt in his performance. He has put together a fantastic group of phenomenal musicians to complement his style and the experience was mesmerizing.
Incredible, Amazing, Fabulous!
He is an amazing writer and musician as well as Avery kind man!!
His music and all around performance at the Dakota was nothing less than completely incredible!!!
Long time fan ! Chanda
& my husband Jon, whom declares Steve as his, “go to guy” for great music Anytime and all the time!!!!!
Really fantastic show overall. His passion, talent, and energy were on full display. How is this guy 65? I wouldn’t miss it if Jordan comes to town again for another solo show.
A marvelous, somewhat low-key show.
A few minutes before the show started, I zipped to the men's room. A lotta AKs had the same idea. Five of us waiting for a urinal and two stalls. After a while, the non-handicapped stall opened and out stepped Bromberg, carrying some clothes on a hanger.
"This is the dressing room they gave you?" the patron ahead of me asked.
"No. They gave us one. But there are six of us."
"Welcome to Minneapolis."
At least, I thought as I stepped to a urinal, I won't miss the start of the show.
Paul Siebel died that day, and David turned the show into a mini-tribute to Paul. They sang five or six of his songs, none of them "Louise" -- a couple that David recorded decades ago and a few that the band was just about workshopping onstage. It was marvelous. Here's a little more about Paul Siebel: https://davidbromberg.net/david-bromberg-news/
David also sang "Diamond Lil," beautifully. I just finished the novel Nightmare Alley and it resonated well..
always superb. jonatha brooke hasn’t lost an ounce of confidence or talent since moving to minneapolis, or managing a pandemic, or navigating the minnesota snow. aby wolf is completely in sync with brooke and they harmonize flawlessly. the band is well rehearsed and spot-on, even with brooke’s sometimes complex chord changes.
we attend each of her minneapolis shows at the dakota and we are lucky to have her residing here.
A dreamy and personal show, masterful musicians, and beautiful voices -including Jim! Sing more, Jim. Stacey sings beautifully in many languages and the guys in the band are amazing. Don’t miss seeing them if they are in your neighborhood. We drive 4 hours to see them every time and it is worth it. Every time. We’ve been doing it for 12 years now, here’s to many many more. And the Dakota is a fantastic venue with great food!
Absolutely magical night. They signed my copy of their new album Vinyl Tap. Played so many classics throughout the night. I will happily see them anytime they are in town!
The whole club felt Alive. Most guitarist's bring fire well She was bringing Lightning to the stage. Feel extremely lucky to witness that. Everything was Brilliantly Executed. I'm grateful to have been there. Ultimate A++
I love Paul Thorn but this is not the right venue for him with his band. The venue is too small for a full band so the sound gets distorted.
It was great. The band is really tight, plays interesting originals and cool covers. I bought their CD. Several members came over to the merchandise table right after their set. I would go see them again in a minute. I'm also a musician, and I was inspired.
She gave a down to earth, honest performance. Her voice is as good as ever and she interacts joyfully with the crowd. I’ve seen her before and I’ll see her again next time she’s at Dakota.
