Great night. The venue suited the stripped back vibe and the band was on it from the get go. There was a lengthy wait to get started from doors opening but otherwise glad I was there. One slight grumble is that the merch was cash only which is a miss, as far as I’m concerned. Man, the guy can play and sing with the best of ‘em!
Kris Barras Band are a class act and I'm so glad I got a ticket at the last minute. The band are top quality and true performers. No matter who you are, you will not be disappointed. An awesome show throughout.
I'd also like to mention the support acts - The Nocturnal Affair and South of Salem. Both are worth the ticket in their own right and both added to bands I now follow.
A quick word about Islington Assembly Hall. One of my favourite locations. It is clean, friendly and welcoming. Thanks to the staff once again.
I've been looking forward to this gig since I saw him last at Hoxton Hall on 26-04-23. Brilliant, he was in top form and I think the audience felt that and responded accordingly.
The new album is a corker and nine of the thirteen songs performed were from it.
The rest of the set were old favourites.
The band rounded the performance off nicely.
Pet Snake and Saint Saviour both good provided support.
All in all, a great night out.
I'm already looking forward to his show at the Barbican in October.
What a venue. Stunning. Perfect backdrop for a stormer of a set from Noah Reid and his band. Special mention to support act, Clerel who is a wonderful and enigmatic musician. Loved his half hour set. This night was always going to be great, the ingredients were all there, then a special guest elevated it to the next level. A glorious touch.
The concert was amazing. Ben Barnes and his group was really great. His new songs are a pure joy to listen to and the whole atmosphere was fun. I had first front row seat and couldn't be more happy how joyful Ben is while performing. He seems to be the kindest person and you could see how happy his interaction with fans was. To top it of got to see a couple more friends of Ben from Shadow and Bone who came to support his performance. The best night ever.
The Gig was fantastic, the Venue was great, really easy to get to via public transport.
Noah was brilliant. Loved his rapport with his audience and the surprise drop-by from Dan Levy... smashing.
The support was wonderful too.
The staff at the venue were welcoming, funny, kind and attentive. Their response to the fainters was swift & effecient.
A great evening.
Absolutely brilliant concert! And the Dan Levy popped in to say hi. Seriously though, the music was amazing and Noah Reid is a very natural performer, funny guy and you could tell that he loved the night. So did we.
Ana Moura gave a fabulous performance, first class vocals, and the crowd including myself loved her. The music is memorable and full of passion and creativity. She showcased her new album along with other songs. There were both fun songs, great fado, and also intimate moody songs in the smoke and lights. The evening had a super atmosphere, and I look forward to any future UK performances.
From the sublime to the ridiculous (or should that be the other way round?) First up Mike Flowers Pops who back in the nineties had some success with a bonkers cover of Wonderwall and were the support for Mari Wilson. Sporting a blond wig and with his backing singers, he only sang a couple of songs before departing the stage although it wasn't the last we would see of him, he was very entertaining for the brief time that he was on stage. Mari Wilson then came on and what a set it was, with a full band she performed some classics many of them off the Pop Deluxe album including a beautiful rendition of the theme from the 60s/70s tv show 'White Horses' and a cover of Petula Clark's 'Don't Sleep in the Subway.' All the hits were interspersed throughout including 'Beat the Beat' and 'Wonderful To Be With' and of course finishing with 'Just What I Always Wanted' And it being Christmas lots of festivities and joined once more by Mike Flowers Pops. Mari was on brilliant form and was great fun. I don't think I have laughed and sung along at a gig as much as this. Mari hinted that she might repeat the exercise next year; I'm booking my ticket now!
A good venue with reasonable accoustics, easy to find (on the high street), been looking forward to hearing this band live after loving their album and they didn't dissapoint...Great lead vocals and very good musicianship from the band.
Having wanted to see Carly for a long time, when the chance came, jumped at the chance. Giving 100% from start to finish, Carly is a talent you really should not miss. A classic case of miss it miss out
Heard lots about Rome but I want overly impressed with them. Solid enough live but in my opinion not suited to the bill. Swallow the sun were really good. Very tight. But primordial stole the show. Alan is Simply one of the best vocalists in the metal scene. Great set list and a top notch performance from the lads!
Absolutely spectacular evening
Yolk lore who opened was absolutely brilliant and now a new artist I will follow.
Bishop Briggs, OMG everything I thought the show would be and more it was amazing she’s so full of joy it just pours out of her and it’s infectious every song sung was on point can’t wait to see if she’s on tour again soon as I’ll definitely see her again
Great venue - big enough to get a good crowd in but not too big that you feel distanced from the band. As for The Brand New Heavies... they've still got that vibe after all these years. The funk is definitely back with this tour! ...if it ever left?! Infectious performers, appreciative of their followers - each band member getting their chance to shine in the spotlight and Angela Ricci's vocals were on point. Some of the impromptu jamming went a little off for my taste and I could barely make out a word Simon or Andrew said or sang - maybe Angela got the best mic?!?! A minor gripe on an otherwise great night.
Hands Down the best, most memorable & most emotional concert I've ever been to.
Tori not only gave us melodic magic and a musical night to remember, but she embraced us as people and shares with us her feelings that have been pent up and needed to be released.
She left a piece of herself with us.
❤
I will be at her next london concert.
Even though I would never listen to this band at home (vocals are not for me), I had a fantastic time watching them. Their costumes were great, the energy was great with lots of crowd interaction. Excellent idea to attempt to involve the audience in a congaline world record during one of their songs.
I don't know if I would want to attend a show with Trollfest headlining as their music isn't for me at all, but they were a fantastic opener that I'd definitely be excited to see again if they were supporting another artist.
Acoustics were great, singing and backup band were top quality as expected. Light display was a surprising, but welcome addition to the show - interesting affects that added to the atmosphere and performance and vibe of each song. Awesome guy, came down to meet people post-show. Hoping he’ll be back in the UK next year as I can’t wait to see him play again!!
Jonne has a great smile and energy and puts on a great show. I was delighted to hear Wooden Pints. However, the setlist was disappointing - they played too many new songs and not enough old songs. Although it's a matter of taste, their latest album is by far my least favourite of theirs. One member of the band, who I won't name, looked very fed up throughout the entire show.
In short: a good performance and show from a good band, but a disappointing setlist.
The light tech was awful.....really ruined my experience of the show as half the time was blinded and the other half annoyed that it was so bad the attention was taken off him. Amazing artist though
Great event. Memories are Guthrie's legato attack when discarding the mobile phone and the picking with the bootleneck in his right palm and Marco's drumming and Brian's ears - if you weren't there you don't know what the fuck I am talking about
