Saw the Albert Hall review and didn't expect much. I think a lot of the audience must have read the same review as the response was a bit cool for the first 3-4 tracks. Listen, Daryl's voice is not what it was. How could it be after the years of strain on his vocal chords and who of us in our 60's and 70's are what we once were? I thought Daryl and the band gave a great performance. As time went on, the crowd got behind Daryl and the atmosphere was much, much better and a standing ovation was given. Two things to specifically mention- not sure the bright lighting on the crowd helped early on. Unusual and not a great idea- maybe not coincidental that as the lights dimmed, the crowd warmed up? Also a special mention to Glen Tilbrook. If you like Squeeze, then go and see the show.
Excellent evening spent listening to the amazing voice of Mr Gregory Porter. A truly brilliant artist we thoroughly enjoyed the show. The venue is equally amazing very clean, comfortable and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Would definitely see Gregory again and would love to see other artists at Birmingham Symphony Hall.
He is a great singer and performer but felt he did not sing enough. The play list was also not the best. The musicians are also fab but Mr Porter let them play too many solos giving them lime light be it they were great we wanted to hear Mr Porter sing..
When he started singing my girl the room erupted but he only sang a few bars. Could have done with some more classics.
Jenn has such a powerful voice and plays the piano incredibly. She talks to the audience, relating to them the meaning of her songs and how they came about. The Symphony hall was a fabulous venue. If you are lucky enough to get the chabce to see Jenn, grab it with both hands.
It was, like all his shows, fantastic. Pat Metheny played his songs as one continuous melody, progressing from one to the other smoothly without breaks and it was lovely to hear songs from his albums from 50 years ago as well as his recent ones played as parts of single pieces, bringing tears to my eyes.
He also spoke at length about his instruments and of how he became a musician, giving us fans bits of glimpse into his past.
The venue was excellent and the 2+ hour show was set up in such an increasingly interesting audio and visual way that we watched it with constant fascination.
Pat yet again shows that he is a true pioneer of the guitar, and in particular the Baritone guitar. It was fascinating to hear his account on how he tunes the strings in respect to harmonics, and wonderful to hear him pay homage to some of his inspirations, mentors and the productions of many of his albums. Sueno Con Mexico was wonderful to hear live as part of the encores with the Orchestrion in full flow also, but hearing all of his guitars on display really was a treat, with a real feel of intimacy. A special evening indeed.
His brain must be wired with strings!!! He is amazing, and The Moonlight Tour is a great celebration of his career. Great musician, great venue, beautiful experience.
I hope for a future tour with a band!
Venue was lovely I liked the layout of the restaurant and bar , the staff was friendly and polite , and lulu was absolutely amazing 👏 I loved every minute of it
Awesome stuff, Ryan had the audience in the palm of his hand throughout the gig. A decent mix of crowd pleasers, new interpretations and deep cuts. Would (and will!) definitely see him again.
Good evening out and great performance. Superb venue, only fly in the ointment was that the vocals were a little low in the mix (at least from the upper circle).
My first-ever Talon gig and I was very impressed. The guys obviously love what they are doing, and that's reflected in their performance. Will be seeing them again in the future.
Fantastic concert. Played from 7.30 until 10.30 with a small break and the musicianship was absolute quality. They had the entire audience rocking throughout.
Already booked to see them again in November.
It was wonderful. One of my best nights since COVID. They did a lovely tribute to Paul Sartin which I found quite moving. At the end of the gig I was exhausted from dancing and clapping but the band's energy levels were off the scale.
An emotional and fun-packed show from the maestros of hard rock. This gig was a celebration of 50 years (53 since the band was formed) and split into an acoustic set followed by a full-on powerful electric set covering 32 tracks spanning their extensive catalogue. Not a weak moment in a fabulous 2 1/2 hour set.
Omg this was a mega amazing gig. Jeff is so talented… then low and behold Johnny Depp turned up and absolutely stole the show, playing the guitar 🎸 and also singing 🎤 loved it 😍
Jack was certainly out of his box. Amazing mix of old and new songs. Great to hear him do Dr Frankienstien. 21 when he wrote that, you can tell he was a poet before a songwriter in those earlier tracks. You done yourself proud Jackie Boy
Awesome evening. Stunning venue. Great sound (mayhaps somewhat trebley at times). Brilliant choice for the warm up artist (Your cello rocks, Jo! Best sober trip I ever had...).
Wardruna exceeded my expectations, played songs from all albums and graced us with double encore. I say, Thank you for the music!
Cannot wait for next time...
Wardruna were amazing, absolutely faultless in their uniquely special way. However I was really disappointed to not be physically able to see the unique instruments being played, ir even most of the performers. They were in the dark the whole time. Wardruna features instruments barely ever seen in the world today, moraharpa, tagelharpa, bukkehorn and lur. I was excited to see the people and the instruments behind the sound, however someone saw fit to hide them as much as possible.
What a show ! A very fitting tribute to Timmy too ! Will have memories of this show for a very very long time ! Thanks Guys you were amazing !! X
The Musical Box never fail to deliver. Always faithfully re- creating the music and live show of Genesis in their golden period during the 1970's. This new show in 3 Acts has many new features such as never before seen slides from The Lamb lies down on Broadway and songs that have not been part of TMB concerts previously.
