Nate Jackson is HILARIOUS , his entire show was great!!! I’ve seen him on YouTube and Tik Tok but seeing him in person is better. If he’s ever in your city make sure you check him out. His opening acts are good too.
Come back to Chi Town Nate!!!
FYI— I had balcony seats not because I was late getting the tickets.. my family and I didn’t want to get roasted 🤭
Nate was amazing!
The only disappointing thing is the lack of cell phone restrictions during the show. We were sat next to a woman who COULD NOT put her phone down and was essentially recording and posting the entire show to instragram. The constant light going on and off was distracting and annoying. It was great that Nate had the house lights on for his set so she was less of a distraction. There must not be a policy as employees were only 5 seats away and could blatantly see what she was doing.
First time seeing them live. It was a lot of fun. Though I found the lack of any banter between songs a bit mechanical. Give us a cliche or two between few song. It was listening to a record, just song, song, song. Other than that the audio mix, center/back in the pit area, wasn’t good, guitar and vocals were super low. Overall still a great time.
Biased rating because they are one of my favs. However, they did play a few songs that I either haven't heard live or haven't heard in a while. They were missing a saxophone so the horns were 4 piece instead of 5. The new trumpet player did very well. Played his ass off. The crowd was very fun to watch. The sound was great. All around a great show.
I almost missed this concert as finding parking is a nightmare. Unlike the aragon ballroom who has paid parking, the riviera does not. Residential side streets are all permit only, so figure out how to get to the venue accordingly. It was raining and cold, and I had to walk 8 blocks. That's chicago weather for you. Upon arriving at the venue, the starter band was already into their set. I ran to the merchandise counter to buy an item. Visited the WC then, was told there's no lift. 3 flights with a bad knee is rather undaunting. I was able to locate my seat and, with 15 minutes to spare, without much further fan fare. Echo and the Bunnymen appeared. The lead singer wore sunglasses during the entire set. No background graphics, except for various colored lights pulsing on and off to the music being played, the stage was foggy from the fog machines giving the stage a very dark, and eerie feel, like a foggy and misty night out walking along the english shore. The band took an extended break and then came back and played almost an hour longer. As most bands do, they briefly left, then returned and played the last two songs I longingly waited for...killing moon and lips like sugar. As with any band who's been around many moons and decades, the physical appearances of each original band member changes and oftentimes the voices and how the original song was played and how now, it's evolved. It can all come together in disappointment. It wasn't a terrible night, but, given my experience overall, I'd sit this band out going forward.
Sign me.. nothing lasts forever
Would have been perfect but we got gypped on our vip experience. We were supposed to have early access to merch but they only had like three items available until after the show was done. The people who should have gotten first access ended up being at the end of the line with no guarantee on if anything would even still be available. Really disappointed in that and hoping we get some sort of discount code for his website as compensation considering we never got part of the experience we paid for.
It was AMAZING! This concert is gonna be memorable to me! I’m grateful because I could see all this bands and I want to say thank you to Caleb for his words because those words save me. I can say that my emotional and mental heath is better than ever before . I love these guys and I’m grateful for these beautiful souls are here with us. Let’s keep doing your best like always 💪🏼🎶❤️🔥
Never been to the theater before but it was super nice. The detailing of the building was fascinating. In terms of the concert itself, I loved how the lights looked throughout the concert. You can literally feel the bass hit your soul. It felt so intimate and deep. It wasn’t loud where your hears would hurt but you were able to feel everything. Everything felt like a dream. Would definitely go again.

Concert was great. The fans in the crowd sucked. Upon returning to our spot in general admission we realized there were no ushers so politely moved through the crowd until I ran into probly 3-4 people that were so rude, I’ve never been to a concert where the fans just wouldn’t move lol like so ignorantly asked where r u going? I’m like really?! The stairs your standing all on and blocking dumbass!!
I loved seeing James Bay perform at the Riviera Theater in Chicago! He played so many of his well known songs as well as a few new ones. The theater was a great size, not too big. We all had a blast singing along with James! I hope he makes this a regular spot on his future tours. Thanks to everyone who made this show happen! (2023)
The James Bay concert at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on Sunday, 8/27 was outstanding!! As a big fan of classic rock and blues, I saw James Bay for the 1st time in 2019 at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas. I was so impressed that I immediately became a big fan of James Bay and listened to everything he has ever recorded and developed a playlist around his music. Last year, I was able to see him live as an opening act for the Lumineers at Wrigley Field. The night before the Riviera Theatre show, we saw him open for the Lumineers in Milwaukee but really looked forward to seeing him as a headliner. He absolutely did not disappoint!! James Bay is a fantastic live performer and his show at the Riviera Theatre made that very clear. As good as his music is on recordings, in live performances he accentuates his guitar playing even more. The perfect example of this is his live performance of “When We Were on Fire” with its extended solos—fantastic!!! I would love to see James Bay release a live album so that fans who haven’t had the opportunity to see him perform live could hear what I have been fortunate enough to witness live.
Not nearly as uncomfortable visually as I was anticipating, that’s not to say yves didn’t get into some pretty hardcore displays of *affection??* towards his guitarist ? At any rate I fell in love w the bassist , not realizing she did backing vocals on many songs #imanidiot. Yves is one of the performers of our time. I’m glad I got a chance to experience him at this point in his career although I wish I would have seen home earlier. I’m sleep. The openers were pretty zesty too. I liked the second bands front lady. She had a lot of energy. 4.5 tokens of protection / 5
I loved the band, and i loved the venue. Sadly the anime fans dont really know how to party, they just stood around awkwardly not singing, not dancing, really nervous about touching anyone, and recording the entire time. Some would say its a cultural difference but the native japanese fans around me were singing and getting into it and having fun. Felt bad for the band, they played an awesome show but the majority of the crowd just wanted anisong jukebox more than radwimps the band
Beyond excellent. The C4 Trio was an amazing unforgettable opening act and then Snarky Puppy outdid themselves with a bunch of new songs that blew us away. The only issue I had was that the crow back bear the sound booth made so much noise throughout the show that it was hard to hear the transitions—and sometimes they drowned out the artists speaking. The venue staff was very friendly and helpful from the front door to the restroom. It was a great event.
Alter bridge definitely delivers. This was my first time going to one of their concerts and it was amazing! The whole band is so talented and I didn’t want it to end. They sound exactly like their original songs and that is truly what sets them apart from other bands. The venue seemed too small for the amount of people that were there. It was very crowded and hard to work your way to see the stage. I had general admission and it was packed tight. The bartenders were great and selection of alcohol was to my liking. The bathrooms were a glorified decaying port a potty.
Unfortunately Asking Alexandria didn't appear due to Danny not being able to sing. Eva Under Fire was meh as the opener. However Nothing More was great live headlining for 1 hr 10 min with a ton of energy per usual, good mix of newer and older songs. Atreyu also put on a good energetic show with a good setlist for 50 min.
Show itself was amazing! Almost as good as seeing them in 1996! The Melvins and C.O.C. were great, too!
Parking by the Riviera is a pain as always, though. Plan ahead if you can.
Most of the staff is friendly, except for the door staff. They were uncoordinated coming in and very rude after the show. Especially one young woman who should really be fired.
Slash & Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators was a FANTASTIC SHOW!! Myles K&C is such a great band and they played a lot of songs from the new “4” album plus “Anastasia “. Seems like Slash really likes to play for the audience and he was Amazing !! They all were smiling and having fun on stage, I think they love making music and sharing it with people.
Smaller venues than huge arenas make this tour more intimate. You can see the way they pull off technically difficult things without blinking.
The opening band in Chicago was “Plush”. An all girl rock band that is the best I’ve heard for (eons) a long time! They also pulled off Barracuda like it was theirs! They rocked it.
Will be looking for more from them
they were amazing! and super considerate. they stopped their show to tell everyone to move back because the front row being squished. I mean it is just human decency but some artists would ignore it you know? I know that this tour is to promote Bambi but I wishhhhed they played a bit more of their old songs. anyway, everything was on fucking point. Jake and Nathan’s vocals were killer! DeCarlo’s trumpet playing made my head bop. Whistler went ham on the drums. And Zach made everyone swoon lmao. It was a fun night, overall xx
