The Tivoli

Ball Park Music played a joyous romp through their catalogue. The set was tight. Sam had his funny on. All things smashed together to produce yet another cracking show. We secured a great position, so we had a great view. My only disappointment was not being able to see their set at Suncorp Stadium as part of the Queensland Day half time celebrations.

Have waited years for the stars to align so I could get to a Beths gig. Was it worth it? 100%!! Such an amazing gig, such talent, glorious music and joy!! Thanks Beths. Now i just needs those stars to align again for the next Beths gig.

Awesome show!! I love them at ‘full noise’ in my car (the only hazard is it can lead to excessive speed 😁, but also makes those boring commutes bearable!!) but LIVE?? Unreal!! Absolutely amazing!! Fantastic show!! The car is going to feel quiet now! Come back soon!! ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve seen Suicidals everytime they have played Brisbane, Honestly Tuesday nights gig was one of the best ever, the energy was back to 30 years ago! Having Big Noter support was a great move! Love Mike and the guys and I’m looking forward to seeing Cyco next weekend.

It was awesome to see these metal legends live! It was also so good to meet them so in person. They were super friendly. How awesome to chat to Steve D! The man has been on some of these most important metal albums ever. Highly recommend seeing them if you can. 🤘

Hogs were cranked, but most importantly it was a great show The sound was muddy, but that’s nothing on bands, it seems to be a common demeanor in most venues with decibel limits and over compressed sound Pre covid and new sound laws this show would have been a blast Bilmuri deserve all the recognition and all of the sound to be heard and enjoyed. They’re original and their songs gratify them as a band

The show left me speechless! Well played and just unbeliveable performance of so talented musicians! Very nice touch with live background show by film caneras, I reckon that's another piece of art and added charm and good vibes to the show. Bands were awesome but the Tivoli is always a let down, the line to get in was massive and they had 2 people doing the tickets, missed half of Bloom (favourite band) because I was still waiting to get in, every other venue prioritises actually getting in their customers.

This was hands down one of the best shows I have ever been to. They played all of their best songs, the crowd work was incredible, and I left the room feeling elated. If you are ever on the fence as to whether or not you'd see Dayseeker, take the leap - you will not be disappointed.

it was nuts fantastic! I love these guys so much!! they are such an underrated band and Rory's voice is like heaven... they were absolutely awesome! I am going to 2 more of their shows on this tour in Australia 🇦🇺 - Sydney and my hometown of Melbourne ❣️ I'd never been to The Tivoli - awesome venue and the sound was great!! the venue was awesome but so many people squished into the place was uncomfortable and viewing the band was difficult at times because of number of people and the tall ones..

My second time seeing EITS and another set list for my collection. This band is more than live music, they are an experience. It is telling that on both occasions I have seen them live I have gone alone, yet I soon found myself in good company as fellow fans can't help but share their love for this music (and ask to take pictures with the set list haha). Whatever city they're playing in, if I'm there (or nearby) it is an auto-smash on the ticket purchase button for me. Please let it never END.

Awesome performance and a great appreciative crowd that the band responded to. Desperately hot and the poor guys were losing buckets of sweat in our hot tropical evening. Thought maybe the sound could have gone up a touch. We had a good view from the back but would have been great to be fully immersed in their sound. Encore session was amazing

I hadn’t seen L7 perform in 28 years since the Alternative Nation festival in 1995 at Chandler, Brisbane, Australia and that show coincided with the promotion of the Hungry For Stink album. The venue this time around, The Tivoli in Bowen Hills, Brisbane, Australia was much more intimate than the velodrome of the aforementioned festival. Performing all of ‘Bricks Are Heavy’ in sequence Donita jokingly implored the crowd not to leave after their “hit” Pretend That We’re Dead as it was the third track on the album and rightly played early in the set. A great show with a few alterna-rock classics tacked on the end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great venue, first time for me at The Tivoli. I was only in town for a couple of days, and happy to find Mark Seymour and The Undertow playing. First up, Seymour’s voice is stronger than ever. And so’s the songwriting. Loved his style of guitar playing in Hunters and Collectors, and glad to see it here up close on the old Tele and acoustic. The Undertow are a great band, from the tasty electric guitar fills, to the solid bass lines and diverse drumming styles, the band serves the songs and arrangements well. I was not at all familiar with Seymour’s solo material, but was pleased to experience the blues slash rock slash country, in the vein of Springsteen. Bought a copy of his latest - Slow Dawn - on vinyl. And by latest, it was released in 2019, and promotion delayed by Covid. We were treated to at least one new and unreleased track from a forthcoming album number five. I would recommend seeing Seymour live, if you are a “Hunters” fan. His between-song banter provides some vital context for the post-Hunters material, many of which have been written in various locations in Australia and abroad, and around a variety of themes. Seymour is the first to admit he has mellowed, no longer the angry young man at 67! He now writes about love and other emotions. He was restrained in expressing his disappointment tonight, about Australia’s overwhelming rejection that very day, of an Indigenous voice to parliament. You have to respect your audience, he said, but he also pointed out that he has to be honest, or the audience would know he wasn’t being honest. He then launched into one of the songs from his back catalogue around an Indigenous theme.. not being that familiar with his solo material, I’m looking forward to diving in and discovering more. Of course there were some choice selections of Hunters & Collectors songs, but the arrangements were very different sans a horn section. And this is a very different group, which has made those songs their own. Would recommend! Just a brief note about The Tivoli. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting. If you’re as old as me and a Newcastle person, think the old, now-demolished Palais Royale. Apparently it’s a former bakery, revived in the 1980s as a theatre restaurant. It’s a gem, with art deco styling. Much thought has been given to the sound, given there a two wings either side of the main room. Speakers have been positioned in these rooms, so no-one misses out on the good sound, no matter where you’re standing. There’s a reason why national and international touring artists stop here, and that’s a credit to the new owners. Five stars.

I've seen Mark and the U a number of times over the years and they are quality and consistent performers. Given the referendum results he did well to mention it, his own stance and then move on. The sound and mix were quite good although this is usually the case at the Tivoli - small venue and intimate feel. They did a lot of material from the Slow Dawn album, particularly in thefirst bracket of the set. This is a tight band, who quickly got into the groove and had a lot of foot tapping from the seated audience. Mark's vocals were not as good as usual although he had a lot of power, but the higher ranges were a bit scratchy in parts, but overall quite good. This band has never disappointed me. They are very good value indeed and there musically variety and heart-felt lyrics. All of this went down well with the audience who, like me, seem mostly disappointed with the referendum result and just enjoyed a thoroughly good set, including lots of favourites.

What a brilliant concert. What a brilliant venue. What a fabulous live performance. I don't think there's be one disappointed fan in the house. James Reyne and his band just gets better and better every time. Exactly what you want in a love performance from a favourite musician. Just a man his guitar and his music. Thank you. I told next time. Am grateful for people not standing up in front of us either!!!! Having the option of a stand up concert or a sit down was perfect. Thank you!

King Stingray were tops! The band Australia needed right now- culturally and sonically. Hadn’t been to the Tivoli before - a bit like the Powerstation in Auckland - visibility isn’t always the best but the atmos was. Packed to the rafters and calling all comers. We were lucky to bump into the Billabong band sponsors and freelance photographers before the gig. Match made in heaven.

Honestly couldn’t have been any better if I had unlimited stars! I would but then down! Honestly loved every single second support act was amazing! Thank you to “The Vamps” and there mangerment! You’ve done amazing ! And to add they played 98% songs that I knew only missed one then screamed at the top of my lungs! Thank you!

Light show was terrible. No downlighting meant that the band was playing in the dark most of the time. Also who were those guys anyway? Presumably hired g**s by the original singer. Would have been good to have been introduced to them and a bit of onstage banter. Otherwise it was the best Sisters of Mercy tribute band that I have seen

I saw the presets twice in Brisbane prior to this show, one time at the river stage which was unbelievable and another time when I was 19 at the Tivoli, 10 years later they were playing the Tivoli again for their Hi-Viz tour. Coming down from Cairns for this gig, I was next level excited. I commented on an insta post for the lads tour telling them I was ready for gig 3 and would love to hear anywhere and talk like that, they promptly replied “your wish is our command”, the night of, they opened with this incredible built up version of talk like that and they encored with anywhere, from someone who is obsessed with music and lives for live music, this was a special night. Thankyou guys, your music is amazing and you deserve all the good things. This gig rocked and anyone who says it didn’t wasn’t there.
