Colm was such a funny and welcoming energy during his set. He brought out some of his own songs and some of the greatest (and some of my favourite) classic Irish songs which was amazing. Colm and The Longest Johns did such great work together, making the whole concert an awesomely memorable experience. I hope he comes back here soon!
WOOF WOOF WOOF!
It was an amazing concert! The whole band, Colm, and the supporting instrumentalists worked hard to add in all those extra details to being so much fun energy into the show that it really brought it to the next level. I can't wait for them to come back!
As always, the one and only BIF was amazing, personable, charming, rockin’, and genuinely herself! I love this woman! She is a true and philanthropic being of light with a hard rock edge. Her band was also top notch, great guys, fucken EPIC musicianship! HIGHLY recommend seeing live.
Absolutely fantastic show. This is a band that has hit their stride in performing, which is really saying something given how ambitious their new album is. A danceable night with an enormous amount of feeling and energy. Font were fantastic openers too. A brilliant night!
Sounded amazing live and ended up wishing they could play more songs during this concert. Extremely happy I got to see them when they came back for a headlining tour in 2023 because they just sound so good. Would highly recommend seeing these guys live! They're awesome.
Outstanding performance , Nita was on fire , I haven't seen some play like that live since the Glory days of Van-Halen , Kasey Karlsen was fantastic as well! The mosh pit was fun and insane, Kasey jumped in with us and mashed me into the stage , awesome stuff!!!
These guys are just rad live! Such a huge sound for a 3 piece. Their music is made for the live performance. Mosh pit was good and wholesome and vibes were just right.
At first we watched the opening act from up too in the balcony and the view from there is perfect. You're really close to the stage even though you're up top but having said that...you wanna be down in the crowd bouncing around to the tunes!
Don't miss out on the Dirty Nil if they're rolling through your neighborhood 100%!
Phenom!
They never cease to amaze me by the material flowing from within their entity. The whole new album is lethal. Played just the right amount of new to old; of course all the bangers off COE except “a smile that doesn’t exist “.. that song fucks. Levi’s mix could have been mixed better with the whole bang; was a little on the quiet side.
All in all, need to go grab myself a damn neck brace, you fuckers! Thanks for the wicked outing, big ups on the new album and, stoked to see you guys again storming through, down the trail.

Before the concert i’d never had the pleasure of knowing their music and it took maybe 8 seconds of presence on the stage to be completely reborn a lifelong fan. Unmatched stage presence and charisma and just live with raw energy. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Without a doubt, in 10 years I’ll be telling everyone I saw thee Mac Saturn at the Rickshaw before they blew up. Come back asap!
It's so amazing and refreshing to see such amazing music from Africa, even more from the currently very challenged Sahel region.
The musicianship was great and the soloing was superb, almost as if Jimi Hendrix was reborn in Niger, you don't want to miss them if they're in town!
Mostly songs from the first couple of albums. Sure I love those songs, but the new album had so many great tracks I wish they would’ve played more of them. Merch offerings were scarce which was a bit lame, but at the end of the day Trever Keith and crew killed it! There was a great vibe in the room and you could tell they were feeding on it. The band was tight, completely flawless musicianship and they really were enthused to be there (which can’t be said for all veteran bands!).
What a great band! The venue itself has been around for a long time, and the area is becoming quite run down outside (sign of the times sadly - only reason it's 4 instead of 5 stars), but having this quality of a band come to the area was a huge treat! Definitely worth the price of admission!
DF is definitely one of the greatest death metal bands there are. This guys practice a lot and it shows.
Chelsea Grin and Bodysnatcher delivered some serious brutal drops and Frozen Soul along with Undeath delivered some incredible and fresh new death metal, so glad I got to see such a lineup!
First time seeing Beast In Black and they had a great stage presence, the crowd was really excited and the front man kept the energy going but still made sure to remind the crowd to be respectful and safe. Would definitely see them again!
My first post-quarantine concert, so it felt strange being around so many people again. But as is usually the case with the Rickshaw Theatre, the sound mix was off. Midwife was the only one who was evenly mixed, and that's because the band is one woman with a guitar. Holy Fawn's drum kit drowned out everything else, and Deafheaven's bass was up too high. All the bands performed well, but for whatever reason the Rickshaw always sounds bad because I've never had this problem in other Vancouver venues.
George Clarke also needs a reverb effect on his clean vocals, because they don't sound good live without it (his screams still sound great). Overall it was a great show, but my complaints are with the venue, not the bands.
Six years I have waited to see my favorite reggae artist. The person who’s message I listen to everyday. My heart is so full and I am so grateful to have seen Alborosie perform that was truly a gift and I can’t want to see him again.
Absolutely incredible. High on Fire is the best band on the planet right now. Unfortunately, the crowd didnt think so. The place was packed for Power Trip and ppl were going nuts, but it thinned out quick when HOF hot the stage. HOF was firing on all cylinders. The new drummer gelled well with at Matt and Jeff. Matt was an absolute beast, I have never seen him play so ferociously! This is THE High On Fire you have to see and get your fucking face melted off your skull!!!!
I have to assume that not many would expect a dark wave/goth band to get their crowd going enough to form a mosh pit, but that’s exactly what ShePastAway were able to do. Despite some initial technical difficulties that seem to have kept Volkan Caner’s vocals significantly too low and a few transitions between songs that were a tad on the long side, SAP’s droney rhythms sure pushed the crowd breaking into small mosh pits and kept it moving through the evening. I am sure most, if not all in attendance enjoyed the show-I know I did and will definitely see them again.
The Rickshaw is probably my favorite venue in Vancouver, and I can honestly say I've never had a poor experience there. I honestly wasn't familiar with Korpiklaani until I found out they were touring with Eluveitie, but they were amazing. I've been listening to Eluveitie for years and have never had the opportunity to see them live and was so happy with the performance. The sound could have been a bit better as it seemed like some of the more intimate parts of their songs were lost but it was genuinely a great night.
It was w disaster for High on Fire. Des Kensel was MIA! Replacement drummer was...."some guy" lol. Matt had mondo technical difficulties poor guy. His vocals were shit, his solos were shit, the setlist was short and shitty. The sound mix was a mess: I couldnt hear Matts guitar! I waited 6 hours to see High on Fire and what an Fn disappointment. They were here in 2016 and they killed that show, so I know they are way better than this. The highlight of the night for me was Spirit Adrift! Phenomenal! Black Wizard killed it too! Dopethrone has hilarious vocals that are redeemed by heavy riffs. Doomriders was good. Amateur garage punk band Hashteroid needs work. Toxic Holocausts songs all sound alike...stupid Slayer ripoff band. Overall great value you get a show from 630pm to 1am for $50, but holy shit that is a BIG test of endurance.
