Never been to a small intimate concert so it was a fun experience. Was very excited to see her and hear her. Had a great time :) It was my first time at the royale. I kind of wish her opener was on a lil less and we had more of her 😬 overall had a great night
Such an awesome night! This is my third time seeing Shawn James & crew and they always put on a soulful, amazing show. I was fortunate enough to be able to meet Shawn after the show and he’s incredibly kind and down to earth. I will definitely be seeing him again when he’s back in Boston.
🥰 The show at the Royale in Boston was absolutely phenomenal. I saw VNV back in 2005 in Boston and they still performed at this show in 2024 with the same level of energy and love that I remember from nearly 20 years ago. It was an honor to be in their presence again, listening to the older tunes that drew me in, as well as the new ones I've come to adore as well as my favorite... Nova. 💗 Thank you for doing what you love and sharing it! 💗💗💗
Patrick Droney and his band were outstanding in their opening show of the tour. He is a virtuoso on the guitar. I loved how he played his songs as you know them on the album but then he and his fellow musicians cut loose and got creative, exploring different possibilities within the song structure. He moves between power and gentle sensitivity so effortlessly. Mind-blowing two hours!
Had a great time. Boywithuke put on one hell of a show. Entering and exiting the venue was a bit of a mess though. Bottle neck entrance and exit via ONE stairwell. Unsafe, many people attempted to bypass security. Security did an amazing job stop the flow of patrons and getting control of the flow.
Microwave tore it up, loved them ending the set with Vomit and the cameo singer. Not real sure who he was but he stoked up the crowd nicely. The Royale is a great venue! Plenty of seating and the decor is pretty cool. Good vibe! Loved the fact that parking garage for Tuft’s Med Center is right across the street-makes parking painless.
an absolutely an incredible show by Larkin Poe. they are so full of energy. they have such a good catalog of music. there latest release, "Blood Harmony" has some really good music on it. traveled over three hours to see Larkin Poe it was well worth the trip. Larkin Poe, is one of bands that i will travel to see. i just cannot wait to so see these immensely talented ladies perform again.
Morgan Wade and her band put on a great show! Lots of energy and enthusiasm kept the entire crowd singing every lyric back to her. My first time at the Royale. Very impressed with the venue. Great sight lines from everywhere. Sound and lights were way better than I expected. Five stars fir the whole night!
Always a fantastic band to see. I’ve seen them 3x in the past 4-5 years and I wish I could see them more but, I’m very grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to see them as many times as I have. The energy Badflower puts off is always chaotic but, mellow and relaxed at the same time. They engage in the crowd and will have intermissions between songs where Josh is joking around with the crowd, or points out fans funny props or posters. And that makes them very special because it creates a way to make the show memorable and displays that they’re not going by a script or some kind of put-together set. Highly recommended band!
I genuinely believe that it's impossible for Bad Suns to not put on a great performance. This was our second time seeing one of their concerts and they come prepared to give WAY more than your money's worth in great music. Christo Bowman is a phenomenal showman and performer. He really knows how to stir the crowds up in an absolute frenzy and he even did a little crowd surfing for the Boston crowd!
The icing on the cake is that they always wind up introducing opening bands that we, through them, discover how amazing THEIR music is as well. They're super approachable and very easy to talk to, so if you have an opportunity to see them in concert, spend the extra money and get VIP tickets. I promise you shant be disappointed.
Plus.... and I can't stress how cool this is.... but with VIP tickets and the wherewithal to arrive early, you're very likely to get the front row which is mindblowing in and of itself. If Bad Suns comes back around again, you can bet I'll be back as well.
first off bad suns is always an incredible concert to go to. this was my second time seeing them and it was even better than the first. I did VIP the last time as well and it was very well organized as was this event. i’ve been to VIP events that were horribly unorganized and it made the event less enjoyable. the venue was spacious and clean, and the staff was very friendly. I was a little upset there was a barrier but i understand it’s for photography purposes which is fine. Overall, i would see bad suns at the royale again, but i would park closer than the 1/2 mile walk i had to my parking garage!
The band was great. Great show. The venue, the royale, though I love the place, again the bands set was cut short to make way for the dance club. This happens all the time. They shouldn't have shows there if this is going to happen constantly.
Highly recommend checking out The Dead Deads. They are amazing live and have never disappointed. Their lead singer and guitarist Meta commands the stage with her voice, music, and personality. Her witty banter and stage presence is second to none. Daisy, their bass player is super talented. She commands the bass and harmonies to her will. She is the perfect compliment to Meta. Think of Tyler/Perry, Plant/Page and other iconic pairs on stage. You will see what I mean! McQueen on drums ties the band together perfectly with her drumming. We were blown away with her style and precision. The band has a lot of fun on stage and you will too. They rock and will melt your faces!
Amazing set, great energy. Had barrier and ended up with a set list (what does “eats liver” mean?) which was dope. Loved the music so much I snagged a vinyl of their recent album after the show. Definitely want to catch this band again, I cant get over the energy they had and I have never had such an incredible time during an opener at a concert.
The band were excellent but as usual, the sound at the Royale is horrendous, as usual.
The audio was a combination of under-water and a jet taking off.
Very muddy. Zero highs. All bass and distortion (and NOT in the good way).
The last concert I attended at the Royale had the same problem.
One star deducted for that insufferable dude who only came for Voivod, shouted at all the bands how they sucked, filmed the crowd while saying they were all posers and didn't know metal, creeped up on a young girl then got punched in the face. The bands were good tho even if the levels for Yob were off and hard to hear the guitar and singing.
I was bummed that de/vision was not one of the opening bands, as originally listed, but it turned out to be to my benefit.
The Rain Within put on a good show in spite of being the only person on stage. Andy and his music become one and you feel how much the songs are an expression of himself. Definitly a memorable performance. "Smiling Like the Devil" has been stuck in my head for a couple days. Glad to find him on BandCamp.
Holygram was good. I enjoyed their music, but they were too loud. If the cymbals were not so ear-piercing, it would have been funner to listen.
VNV Nation put on one of the best shows I have seen. Ronan gives it his all for the audience. He genuinely appreciates us and wants everyone to enjoy the show. The sound level and clarity of the music and vocals was loud, like a concert should be, but not to the point of blurring into noise. The light show was amazing and, since the lighting extended out and over the audience, we became part of the show. I think every person in the club felt like VNV Nation was putting on a show just for them.
This show was so fantastic! The Rain Within opened and had so much energy and spunk for one person on stage. Holygram was the second act and have now become one of my new favorite bands. And VNV had an incredible show, as always, with spectacular lights and Ronan's beautiful voice! We even got to briefly meet and shake Ronan's hand after the show. What a wonderful and kind person!
Liz was amazing. Sadly the PA was very poor, and especially bad for Speedy Ortiz (who also are great). Low-end distortion and muffled vocals. Have experienced this at the Royale a few times over the last few years (with a couple of exceptions - so it’s not inevitable). Paradise, Sinclair, Brighton Music Hall, all have reliably excellent sound. The Royale needs to pick up their game!
