Fan-freaking-tastic. Although the opener wasn't really up my alley, I respected them well enough. Spoon though totally blew the venue away. Very emotional, in-it and present band. They were very tight and played their music so solid that they were able to get away with incredible solos and had fun with the audience. Their solos in particular showed a lot of depth and emotion. I loved how spacey some of them were, and how driving others were. I found it extremely hard to keep my ear protection in the whole time. They're a hungry band. Now's the time to see them.

It was my first time to the knitting factory but not my first Spoon show. The venue was great. Intimate and the sound was perfect. I’m so tired of seeing them open for other bands when they should be the headliner. I will continue to seek out their headlining stops since you get a full show. My only complaint is I wanted more. Forget and opening act and do two sets! Like the jam bands. Spoon has the talent and the material. I was in England during Glastonbury a few years ago when Arctic Monkeys headlined. We watched on BBC. They were fine but I agreed with the British journalist who said he saw Spoon in a club the same week and felt they should have been headlining Glastonbury. Spoon rocks and if you’ve never seen them live check them out.

I was a little leery of a $30 show at the Knitting Factory but looking back, I'd have paid easily $60 for that experience. Over all the shows I've seen, that was among the most memorable and best I've seen-- totally worth the money, whatever amount. Crowd was totally wild and super engaged-- either they were in what was among like the top ten pits I've been in, or they were singing lyrics in the back. Like seriously, the crowd really came through on the pit. Streetlight Manifesto was all super engaged too and were actually thankful to the crowd, rather than being some jaded older band like I was kinda worried they might be by now. Very high energy too-- they were in the music just as much as the best of the audience. SM was totally legit. They are still just as completely transcendent as they were right from the start.
