The venue and VIP balcony was not as great as it seemed. They oversell the balcony and you end up watching the show through the legs of people enjoying it no problems. 5 stars for the bands and the performances. Only removing one star due to the venue and the awful system they have there.
After seeing them in Austin, TX the previous night, I was shocked, shocked I tell you to find they were just as awesome, if not more so in Dallas. The venue was one of the best small music venues I've ever been to, so that helped I'm sure. Supporting the great Katatonia again, this was the second of only 2 shows they'd be on the same bill together in the U.S. Fantastic show!
I was there for the M&G with W.A.S.P and it was top notch! Jay and the folks running the show did a great job and it was well worth fee. Blackie was great with the Q&A and I am so happy to have a couple of my albums signed and hanging on my wall now. Thank you guys!
Amplified is to blame for us not getting to see them play but I will definitely do the M&G again if we're fortunate enough to have W.A.S.P come back through.
This was killer! They were so good live! As good, if not better than on the albums! Only problem was the venue, paid extra for balcony just to not be able to see :( I got some peeks and it was still worth it! Other band was really cool too! Man though I love that cellist! She's amazing, as was the entire band!
From the moment he took the stage the audience was engaged, clapping and singing along to our favorite hits. Howard still has the stage presence and the vocals to put on a hell of a show .
This took me back to the best days of my life. By far, this was the best concert I've seen since the 80s!!!
Poor Howard. Suffering in the Amplified Live patio heat was not the best way to end a long tour. His vocals struggled and the mic quit working in the middle of The One to Love You. The audience did its best to cheer him on, but an outdoor show at the end of July took it out of everybody. Meanwhile, the moshpit for death metal band LeftToDie enjoyed the nice airconditioned indoor venue. Their sound interrupted Ho-Jo's show every time someone opened the door.
I'm a huge fan of Mr. Hancock, but I was a bit disappointed in his show. I saw him a few years ago and he put on an amazing show, but he was missing his steel guitar player and another lead guitar. The lead guitar player he did have was amazing though, full credit for that. He was still pretty good, but not what I was expecting. I hope he can get his band together and knock it out of the park again.
Great show & sound! I had a great time & especially like intimate shows but the venue seemed too small for Down. Felt like this place was overbooked. The merch line was ridiculous. They seemed to need more help at the merch booth to move the line. The food at the venue was very good.
Great show!! The show was in a very small area, so it was a very personal show. We have seen this band numerous times in small venues before, so this was like visiting old haunts in Europe where the band has been playing for years; this was their first show in Austin. Front man, Bruce Soord, is extremely polite and even apologized for the tight quarters. The band played some new tunes from their latest release, Give it Back, with drummer extraordinary, Gavien Harrison, who also plays with King Crimson and Porcupine Tree.
The opening numbers had a few technical difficulties which didn't take from the show but yes, a bit distracting. They played for about two hours and finished with a three number set: quite pleasing. The mixing was a bit dodgy, not being able to distinguish all the instruments and vocals with toward the end just getting loud. All in all, a great show because of the personal nature the band emphasizes and the great connection you feel with them. They played their hearts out!! Catch one of their shows before they return to England; very entertaining.
I knew coming in Turnstile shows were no joke, but I am pretty tattered. There was no barricade which I was excited for, and stayed in the front through most of the openers. It was such a tight squeeze for the first few songs and a huge collapse happened, which many people helped get others back up. I got even closer to the stage and stayed there. The entire night I got hit in the head and constantly got my hair pulled/neck bent from crowd surfers, which truly sucked. The energy was insane and I'd much rather be up front screaming the lyrics than in the back for all of it.
Testament always puts on a good show. Hell, I’ve seen them seven times if that tells you anything. I’d be happier if one day they’d play Alone in the Dark live, but they still rock no matter what. I have to give the props since they were the band that got me into metal in the first place.
The lineup was phenomenal. Testament, Exodus and Death Angel did not disappoint. What did disappoint and is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, was the venue. This place is great and the calendar of shows to come is top notch. BUT, this place has the worst reputation of over selling the events. The layout is awesome, but cannot accommodate the triple capacity crowd that this place sells. If you’re not already inside the venue hours before the show you’ll have to settle for crappy, muffled sounding versions of your favorite artists tunes. The sound system here is horrible. Always has been. I’ve been to countless other outdoor venues in Texas and other states and have not had this bad experiences with the sound. I’m hopeful that another worthy outdoor or indoor venue like Gas Monkey Live (indoor) will someday come back to Dallas. The artists crank our tunes out and we deserve the best for our money.
Best show I've ever been to he's my favorite artist so of course I would say that. But if you missed this show my friend you missed a one of a kind show. You can always see Wednesday again on his next tour but this one some songs he will probably never play again. It was the best show I have literally seen. Thank you Wednesday for kicking Dallas in the teeth.
Huge kudos to everyone! To Leprous for letting them play a 54(!!) minute long set (THANK YOU), to The Ocean for putting on a fantastic show, to the lead singer for freaking stage diving while still singing, to the sound guy for letting us hear the nuance and power of the various instruments (especially the bass and keys), and the lighting guy for perfectly timing lights with the show. Fantastic job, y’all!
Definitely an amazing band and wonderful people, it was a chill time getting to talk with them after they did their performance and I will definitely be supporting their band, it was my first time hearing them but definitely felt familiar. They put so much energy and passion into their shows and interacting with the crowd I definitely can't wait to see them again in concert
They did absolutely a wonderful phenomenal job interacting with the crowd and definitely put on a good show for those who were there, I will definitely be going to see them again and supporting the band. It was awesome knowing that they stood in the crowd with us and stayed to chat with us after they performed
Had A-blast! They sound just like they did 20 years ago. They are out promoting a new album, but they play just enough of the old stuff ro keep the fans screaming! I was so unbelievably excited to hear Woodson played live. P.S. Robbie, I think you're married (so am I), but if you and your wife ever wanna throw a no-pants party, HMU 🤣🤣🤣🤘🤘🤘
I loved hearing the other bands playing before TYS. Especially Reign of Kindo, they had a very similar sound compared to TYS. Not sure what was going on with the lead singer for Scientist, be it lack of sleep or just a bad day, but he didn’t seem as enthusiastic or hype as I thought he would be, and everyone else seemed to have a better time than he did. Regardless, I had a good night with my date.
It was an amazing night! All of the bands were fantastic! The venue was great as well with excellent sound and delicious food! Beyond Creation were incredible! Wished they had a longer set. Will always be on the lookout for them coming through Texas. Seem like great dude. Obscura was a force to be reckoned with as well!
These guys are at the top of their game! An excellent show! I can't say enough about them.
It was pouring rain. When I say pouring, I mean about 7-8" of rain that night. We couldn't have been any more wet than if we had jumped in a lake. Any other band would have cancelled the show. But Suicidal wasn't about to let us go home empty handed.
They slayed it and we, the sopping wet fans moshed in the rain.
I also took my 2 boys to this show, one 20 and the other 14. They had the time of their lives.
