9:30 Club

The staff were friendly and helpful and security was amazing. Of course Jean was the sweetest and we were able to meet him after the show. I was a bit surprised the 930 club had an event shortly after the concert ended, however, this didn't stop us from being able to hang out around the venue after the show to see Quadeca (the opener) and Jean (the main act). Love the closeness of the venue- smaller areas like this make the best shows imo

Last night I saw Peter Hook and the Light in concert at the nine thirty club. It was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my life! I am a bit biased as the music of Joy Division/New Order holds a special meaning for me. I had seen the rest of the band (who still tours as New Order) two years ago and while that show was good, there is no comparison. Perhaps part of it is that this was a smaller venue (as opposed to the arena I saw New Order in) or the fact that the entire crowd was here to see him (the other show was a combo with Pet Shop Boys) but the energy and enthusiasm in the room and onstage was palpable. This was the amazing experience I was hoping for when I saw New Order but didn’t really get. Peter Hook and the Light delivered!! See them if you can!

The purpose of the event was to take my son to the show to see his first concert at 9:30 Club. Didn't know much about the band or what to expect. I will say I was impressed with all the performances and enjoyed the evening. 9:30 Club is a fun venue and still maintains its luster, even with all the growth happening around it. The sound was great and the places to stand and watch the show are appreciated. Especially since my wife is 5'2" and often struggles with being able to find a place to see the show. We enjoyed ourselves. But not as much as my son did. Great time.

Was a great show. Went to it because i hadn't been to the 9:30 club in a while, and the few songs of there that i had heard were pretty good. Ended up being one of the best shows i've been to in a while. I feel bad because even though i had a good time, most of the people there were clearly enjoying it a lot more than me and since the show was sold out, i think i probably bought a ticket in place of someone who would've gotten more out of it than me.

I will preface this by saying I LOVE Beats Antique. I was so excited to see them live. My only complaint is that they played songs that were not exactly danceable. Everyone was just kind of standing around. We enjoyed the show, of course, but it was more of a performance to sit and enjoy, versus stand around and enjoy. I wish they had played more uptempo music for this specific venue so the crowd could have really gotten into it. It was also not loud enough. People were having conversations and we could all hear each other. I went there expecting to get lost in the music and dance.

Marielle opened for Amber Liu which is a match made in heaven in my book! Love it so much! She only played for about 30 mins or so but it was still amazing! Can’t wait to see her headlining show in April! She’s so talented and even talked her up enough that a new friend bought two of her CDs. Such a genuinely sweet and thoughtful person as well. She’s gonna do big things!

Opening duo Jane Leo really set the table nicely with a short program that was as fun to watch as it was to hear. These two are going to be worth keeping an eye on for future shows in the area. They really got the audience warmed up! Two Another also put forth a fun set and got the crowd ready for the main event. Cannons delivered a great show that included a some terrific new unreleased songs sprinkled in amongst all the crowd favorites! Well received by a lively audience, Cannons entertained for a solid couple of hours and put on a very satisfying set. I hope they'll return soon!

BoyWithUke is a amazing show, he had naethan Apollo on stage. And he and boywithuk interacted with the crowd making everyone have a great time. I recommend everyone going to his show because his very nice and he got a few chances to sign a few merchandise for fans in front of the stage. (As along nobody throws it on stage) I recorded a few on my phone and got a chance to have a outstanding time to watch him live. Hopefully soon he comes again at the 9:30 club and he does meet n greet. In the future.

Kate Bollinger opened. Her set was very chill, but nice she has a great voice. Her music was relaxing, a bit folky, but good. I wasn’t familiar with her, however I will be listening to more of her music. Tennis was great from open to close. I didn’t know much about them either, but my friend invited me to the show so I joined and happy that I did. They’re a great band very melodic, with very clean sound. Listening live was just as good if not better than listening to them on Spotify. Alaina has a beautiful voice, and nice vocal range. The husband / kick ass guitar player Patrick really brings their songs together. He’s a great guitar player, I loved hearing his solos and watching him play. The band as a whole was awesome. After their set was finished they came back on stage and played a couple more songs. They closed with a beautiful rendition of their song Bad Girls which was amazing. I actually enjoyed the live rendition more than the album version. Overall it was great show, if you haven’t seen Tennis live I would recommend doing so!

So who would have the courage to warm up for Cory Wong and Victor Wooten? Three very young ladies who sang original Pop folk? Yes! And the crushed it! They just did what they do with great range and amazing Harmonies. Cory’s band had me at hello w a 5 piece horn section that came out screaming. The rest of the band followed with high energy tunes and Cory’s amazing solos. On the lighter side the band did a few tunes with instruments that would fit in a carryon. All played amazing music using some very small instruments. It was amazing and fun to listen to. It proved to me that it’s in the fingers not the gear! The drummer gets 5 stars here playing on the tiniest of sets. Victor Wooten?!, what would you expect me to say. An iconic bassist. While I think all could expect an unequaled slap bass display, which we saw, I was more amazed by the flawless technique in his grooves fills and support. We heard a rendition of big country and I might be wrong but I think they covered and old Dave Grusin tune! It was an amazing show. If you want musicianship it doesn’t get much better than this

The concert was something out of a dream but like his music I felt all of Negative emotions in my life simply fade away I enjoyed the concert very much ,made new friends who enjoyed it just as much as I did and added a new experience to my summer it was very unfortunate that we had to wait 3 1/2 hours just for the show to start but nonetheless I had a good time and I feel like the wait was worth it. and as an added bonus I got the autograph from the drummer.

The show was amazing! Love hearing new (to me) artists and really enjoyed Margaret Glaspy. Of course Spoon put on a fantastic show! My only concern, and disappointment, was that the club had dropped the vax mandate. Your shows are selling out with the requirement and with case numbers going up it seems like a risky policy change. We're vaxed and boosted so hopefully we'd be OK but you probably have people coming that have small, unvaccinated children at home or may be immunocompromised themselves. I know, they don't have to come to the show, but for those of us that are doing what we can for the good of all, it's frustrating. OK, done ranting! See you on the 2nd of May.

This was my 3rd time seeing Clutch so hoped the “Hometown” show would feature a more balanced set list of hits, deep cuts and the new album but I left a little disappointed they didn’t play anything from their self-title, Elephant Riders, Earth Rocker or Blast Tyrant (no DC Sound Attack? Mob Goes Wild?). The band played with their signature energy and played a lot of the new material but I would have loved to hear more of the tried-and-true, fist-pumping jams.

The show was v chill due to the lateness and the opener, Haley Heynderickx, being v softspoken and the general crowd I think, but Lucy was spot on with the vocals and playing as always and it was just a really wholesome and good time. She brought up her band's families and her dad up on stage for a song that I'm not sure she wrote a long time ago or was a cover of something. She didnt play the whole Historian album like I thought she might, but did play throwbacks "Troublemaker Döppleganger" (by a previous request apparently) and "I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore". She also played Fools Gold, Forever Half Mast, La Vie En Rose, My Mother and I, and Dancing in the Dark. The encore was a really dark, unreleased song and then Night Shift to cap off a quality night. She also had the Ally Coalition and Headcount present in terms of using her influence to be an activist.

The lighting/AV team were killin' it on this performance as the color and timing of the spotlights and strobes were perfectly in tune with the song and energy changes. The band provided a high energy performance the whole way through and gave enough banter with the audience to keep people engaged but not so as to drag on the time too long. Opening with "Away We Go" was the best and only logical choice, but I was surprised at how soon they played "Daft Pretty Boys" (thought they might save that one for later). The times the lead singer stood up on the edge of the stage and the crowd surged in around him were particularly fun/unexpected. There was a point during "Starjumper" I thought he might start crowdsurfing, and was kinda disappointed when he didn't. They played a fairly good mix of the new album and old favorites (only regret is that they didn't include "Disappear Here"). Pacing did lag at points. Opener Carlie Hanson was so-so, just came off way too aggressive/juvenile for my taste.

Patty was exceptional as always; I’ve seen her about fifteen times or so over the past 20+ years. She covered most of the new album; some favorites from it include Bluebeard, Luminous Places, What Now, and Where I Come From. I don’t know if she reads these comments but the final song on the album, Just The Same, is exceptional so it should be added to the set list. Patty always leaves us wanting more; I’d pay double or triple the ticket price for a longer show. Opener Rustin Kelly was great too; sounds so much like Peter Bradley Adams.

I got to see Patty Griffin at the 930 Club again last night. My god this woman puts on a show! Don’t know why city traffic was so bad -but I got to listen to her new album 3 times before the show. And that’s mostly what she played, cuts from the new self-titled release. With just 3 musicians on stage, those other two guys are phenomenal players. Patty played guitar, sang and mandolin. Great volume too, not so loud earplugs were needed. Her opener, Ruston Kelly and his dad, T.K. were really good -had to buy his CD!

The show was honestly AMAZING , I literally had a spiritual experience and I can’t wait for the opportunity to see it again. The ONLY thing I didn’t like was Boxes and Squares was not performed and I understand the set list has to be changed . . . But I need you to understand that I spent TIME debating were you going to bring it in with the flute or was it going to be a slow build up like the album version . I waited the WHOLE SHOW to see what version I’d be blessed in or where you’d melodically incorporate it. Oh & I needed Jelly but I’m not going to get into that. On a lighter note . . . Happy Birthday Merell & your rendition of Happy Birthday was unparalleled ! I’m still lost . Love you guys and see you soon .

Absolutely incredible. I’ve been to many concerts and this was by far the best. The electric energy was shared by the stage and the crowd. Excellent performance by HONNE, and by the opening band Hablot Brown. I really hope they come back as soon as they can. I will do my best to wait patiently for that day to come. I hope you guys see this. You killed it. Thank you so much. I am still smiling the next day just thinking about it.

5 Stars for the performance (I would give more if there was), but had to give off half a star because some girl got drunk and started to grind on me and this man next to me. I asked her politely to stop, and the man as well, and she kept on saying no. Eventually she stopped, but I’m under 18, and I never want that to happen to me again. It sucks because we were in the front row and there were workers there and I kept on looking at them and they wouldn’t come over and ask what’s wrong. There needs to be regulations on drinking at that venue. I have been to multiple venues and that was the first were I felt very uncomfortable.
