i would have given this a five star review however the venue has extremely strict rules about what is allowed and not allowed in the venue. there is no information on the hammerstein ballroom website about prohibited items. they need to make it extremely clear when purchasing tickets at this venue/the venue needs to add these rules to their website so people aren’t losing money from having items taken away from them.
This was a fabulous show. Dean has an extraordinarily human presence, in addition to being a talented, and accomplished, singer, songwriter, and guitar player. He has a great relationship with his band members too. And it was very cool when the woman who did the opening act came out and did a song with him and his band. He has an amazing way to connect with each member of his audience. Everyone was jumping up and down and raving! It was really fun, and very memorable. I am so glad we went. TLA is a wonderful venue!
It was fantastic the first and second time I went (yesterday). Since I went it’s all I could think about. I’d say LoveJoy’s concerts were the best things to ever happen to me and I would do anything to go back. Please come back to Philadelphia I love you guys so much ♡. I was literally shaking at the TLA concert and met Crywank and Spillycave and got Lovejoys and Crywanks merch!!
I love The Warning and they did not disappoint last night. They are just so talented and so much fun to watch and listen to. I am so glad they are finally getting noticed more and more. Can't wait for them to perform in larger venues as the main performer. They do deserve all the attention they are getting - they work so hard and are such a tight band.
If the venue had been better, it would have been so much more enjoyable. Too much of the audience was talking loudly, really loudly, and it was hard to hear when Steve Kilby was talking, which I really wanted to hear. Why go to a concert and talk through the whole thing?! The band was great, as they always are…from what I could hear. Mr. Kilby and The Church, please go back to the Sellersville Theatre, where you are appropriately appreciated!
Preface: this comes from a place of love and extreme admiration. The drummer had a really bad performance. Feel for time and tempo was all over the place. Any time feet got heavily involved, time signature went completely out of the window and it sounded like sloppy note vomit. It's a shame, because the rest of the band is so crisp, the sound and mix was clear, and the front three were shredding all night. It really made all of the mud stick out like crazy.
AMAZING concert! Not too many bands would I even consider driving to Philly to take my 15 year old daughter... but Colony House!?! An awesome group with a sound like no one else and such a positive energy! Thanks for helping us create a great memory! Took my oldest to see you at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA in 2018 and loved it even more this time around!!!
What can I say about this brilliant musician....hmmm. if anyone knows the TLA, it is still one of the best venues in Philly to see a show. And you can get close since it's small. And because of this, it made this concert even better than I could ever imagine.
Chet, I've been listening to you for years and due to covid, this concert was pushed back roughly a year, but thank you for being everything and more than I thought. Was so great to watch the brilliance work. And to be that close, I'm only afraid I will never get the chance to see you in this way ever again. Nonetheless, this concert is fitting into the top 5 for sure. Absolutely brilliant !!!!!!
Brilliant music at a brilliant venue!!!!
If you can catch Chet like this rather than a huge arena, I highly recommend
Palaye never disappoints! Such an electrifying performance from beginning to end! The boys of Palaye are so kind, and continuously look out for their fans. They make everyone in the room feel like part of the family, and deliver a good time every time. I love that the TLA gave the the freedom to do what they do...It's not a Palaye Royale show unless Rem finds something to climb :) Hope to see them again there soon!
Softcult was just as good live as I had hoped. Lots of tremendous riot grrrl energy, excellent musicianship, and the songs really lend themselves well to live performances. Was a little disappointed they didn't play their "hit" Gaslight, and the rhythm guitar could barely be heard in the mix, but still an awesome show all around. Drove a few hours to see them and would do it again. Think this band is going to be big, and you should see them in small venues while you have the chance!
First time seeing Buddy, man dude has a ton of energy and a great vibe. Definitely put on a show and was a lot of fun to watch perform. I hope he comes back to Philly again soon. I was looking forward to seeing his own tour too, I know he originally had a show date in Philly before it was cancelled so hopefully he'll do that next time.
OMG. I was introduced to Waterparks by my sister and was immediately obsessed. I listened to them every day and had a major hyperfixation on the band many times. When I heard about their online show, a family friend got tickets for me and I watched it with my friend and I felt so happy. It was as magical as disney to a child dude. Than, when I heard I was going to their show in phili, It was all I could think about. When we got there it was amazing. All my problems just melted away. I had an amazing time and the concert will always live in my mind. I'm soo excited to go to another show soon!!
The performance was fantastic. One song I never thought I'd hear live was "Moon Over Marin" (a personal favorite). Skip is the best guy to fill in for Jello.
Although I'm disappointed that DOA had to cancel (but I understand their concerns), I was glad that Catholic Action got to fill in. Though not really a punk band, they've also put on a great show. So good that I'm now a fan.
Dark Thoughts has shown us that Philadelphia still has something to offer in punk (Besides the Dead Milkmen).
Ice Nine Kills does a great job puts on an awesome performance the only thing is their lights are horrible I have epilepsy which is a seizure disorder I couldn't stay for the whole show I almost fell into a seizure that's how bad their lights are I've been trying to reach out to the music industry just for the bands to understand how people with seizures can't really go to shows and enjoy themselves because of these lights but good job anyway to the band I really like them just wish their lights weren't the way they were
The concert was AMAZING... Full of joy, laughter, tears, and excitement. I was extremely tired while waiting for the show to start, but she came out and I forgot all my aches and troubles and just enjoyed the moment. Besides beautiful, she is extremely talented and deserving of all the success and praise she gets. The staff at the Theater of Living Arts was disorganized, imposing rules that are not on their website, not helpful at all, and just inept. Do not recommend the venue!
I had the extended edition pass. Included in the package was a set of pins, an autographed poster, a side stage audit and a meet and greet where Ronnie allowed everyone involved to feel comfortable with the band before they played. They took the time to speak with the pass holders and show their true selves. I wish more bands could do stuff like this. It was a great, great experience! The entire lineup was great!

okay so not to pop off or anything the show was fucking amazing! parx were great! if you ever go to a one okay rock show their fans are rude and annoying. the were yelling and being rude during some of the set and the dropped about 8 crowd surfers and got mad when parx fans opened the pit. plz grow up. hold crowd surfers and if you don’t like the pit move off to the side
God bless TEXAS and Red Dirt Country! Independent artist like AW, CoJo, Casey Donahew, Josh Ward, Trent Willimon, Josh Abbott, Cody Jinks and SO many more are absolutely killing it and making Nashville sound like stale bubblegum! So thankful these guys are doing their thing, of course with a fiddle (cuz ya gotta have a fiddle in the band), and laying it down in ways that Hank and Jesus would approve. Keep on chasing them white lines down the road and bringing it to all your grateful fans.
P.S. getting those lil girls involved in the show and giving them an enviable VIP experience was way classy; I tip my hat to you good sir!
Man Mick Jenkins killed it last night, my first time finally catching one of his shows and I'm so happy that I finally did. He had the energy and the vibes, house was packed and it was certainly a night to remember. If you haven't seen Mick live yet, definitely do yourself the favor and catch him next time he comes to your city, I will certainly be at one of his shows next time he comes to town. Drink.. more.. water!
