First off The Fox Theater is Top Tier for a good time. Telegraph Room, is an awesome lounge to wait for a show. Snacks etc. full bar…Now let’s get to the show. The sound quality is amazing. The bands all kicked major arse. And Finally King and his team Murdered the place with a more than Magical Scene. Finally the meet and greet. I was actually able to say a couple words with the King and Andy. Both King and Andy are as friendly and respectful as they always appear. Thank you for Great Time to Everyone (staff/both facilities and bands. And all others that make these shows happen)!!!
Brilliant, personal, hilarious, with great crowd participation. New songs, covers, old favorites, and songs from Rent, Frozen and Wicked. The way she leads in to Frozen is with a whole musical comedy element about the Oscars that you must see. Get the best tickets you can to witness this incredible performer and vocalist, together with a talented band and an amazing fashion design that she strips off piece by piece to make new looks throughout.
In general this festival was a diverse array of band types and styles from the 80’s. Men Without Hats were absolutely a delight to watch. The Tubes were a good replacement for Wang Chung.
The highlight performance by far was Tim Bailey (of the Thompson Twins). His show was an elating experience. My favorite , Thomas Dolby, unfortunately had technical difficulties, but he handled them professionally.
Why does anyone buy expensive seats, and talk during the ENTIRE concert. Yes, you in seat Q28.
You ruined the concert for all around you. What ever happened to concert etiquette? Talk to your friends BEFORE the concert and keep you mouth shut and listen to the music. That is why everyone else is here!!!
I've seen Van Morrison before, however it has been more than 10 years, so I was aware that as a personality, he rates about a minus 5. He makes it up with a tight band that plays great music. A wide variety of jazz and blues covers with plenty of short solos by his talented back up band.
Can’t help it—Still miss Jorgen.
First set was just fine.
Second set was most, most excellent-The way the Mule has delivered at the best shows I’ve seen. Set list was mind blowing and execution was inspired.
Warren was very good, not just dialing it in. Matt was absent but John Molo was excellent stand in.
The Oakland Fox remains one of the best venues
to see a show.
The best concert I have been too. Leeks James voice is so beautiful and she knows how to get her crowd on their feet dancing. She reminds me of the one and only Mrs. Pattie Labelle. Only thing I hope for is that next time she performs that she will over a meet and greet. Leela James is so talented and an inspiration to me.
Fantastic show from a Punk Rock legend. Fox Theater is a great venue; just the right size, short lines for the bar and plenty of places to stand that had a great view of the pit and the stage. They played a ton of songs from many of their best albums. High energy, great sound and a reminder that they still f-ing rock!
Cannons was great, I enjoyed the show!
The band played tight and Michelle Joy was perfect. They are going to be an incredible band and have a great future ahead of them!
One huge disappointment was that I bought meet and greet VIP tickets and didn't get to meet or greet anyone. The information give was vague and I got absolutely nothing for $120.00. I am sure this had nothing to do with the band and was pretty much the company future beats lack of clear info. When I bought the tickets I got them on ticket Master and my ticket said 730pm and that's when I went. Only to find out that it was over and to contact future beat. I'm like who the fuck is future beat? So shows you what I know. Nothing apparently.
Been to a lot of older, intimate, and trap-filled shows with Unc. Shared a laugh with the man myself. This is very clearly everything he has ever worked for. Surreal to see him with so many people in one building, reminds me of Drake’s rise. Someday you gotta stop playing Marvin’s Room for the og fans and give the masses what they want… Good Job Larry. Good Job Alc.
Surprised that it was not sold out for a small venue. Concert was great. Good music. Our seats were upgraded to 2 sections forward and we were moved to the middle so the view was superb. Will probably go see another concert there in the future even though it was a 3 hour drive away. Bebe was great & just wanted everyone to have fun!.
I was really disappointed with whoever was running the sound.
Both bands had the drums too high.
The first act kept asking to boost the vocalist's mic and the guitarist's amp to get above the drums.
The sound person just doesn't get it.
Set the vocalist's level for the room. Then mix everything else below that.
It's the vocals I care about. I could care less about the drummer.
I couldn't understand a word of the first act. And most of First Aid Kit.
However, the sisters were terrific. They have pipes. Loved the Christine McVie song. And "Emmylou" of course.
And the Fox is an amazing venue. We stayed the night at Moxey, just down the street. Loved it. Very convenient.
Getting the sound right would make the concerts terrific.
Ari was incredible, the backup vocalists were incredible, the band was on point. There was a moment in the show when a fan/audience member got sick, and Ari saw it happen from stage and STOPPED THE SONG! She made sure her fan got water and assistance from security. It made me like her even more, and I low key didn’t think that was possible. Just a genuine, brilliant, angelic person overall. Won’t miss the chance to go to anotherAri concert in the future.
I think the only other time I’ve seen a sea of people like this at The Fox was for Grace Jones in 2014. Holy shit! Fletcher puts on a fantastic show and I hope that no matter how big she gets, she still has fun with her fans like she seemed to at this show. I’ll be catching more of her shows when she’s in town for sure
Some of the best moments are when she takes time between sets and speaks to her fans. It highlights her character and all the things we come to a Fletcher concert for.
It did feel the show was a bit rushed in Oakland, as she has 3 back to back shows in LA, and we know she’s heading out right after the performance. It’s also a different feeling going to her performances at the beginning of her tour compared to the end of her tour.
Overall, I enjoyed everything completely. I loved getting to see Fletcher twice in one year. I am grateful.
Although the band appeared low-key and singer Ian McCullough only stood away from his center-stage stool for a brief bit at the end, the audience was fully committed to dancing in the aisles, singing aloud and celebrating Echo's litany of explosive songs. This was definitely a milestone and a momentous occasion for fans. The sound was powerful and the set was perfectly orchestrated in the gorgeous and packed art deco theater. Unforgettable.
Absolutely FANTASTIC Show with Hot Tuna & Little Feat. BEYOND my wildest hopes & dreams! EVERY song & musician rocked the night. The graphics & sound & lights @ The Fox Theater were top notch. Crowd was enthusiastic!
Hope they will tour Northern California again SOON.
Have great videos & photos. No idea how to share. Contact me @ medleymusic25@gmail.com if you want to see any.
Wonderful evening & balcony view was great!

What a dynamite show Caribou brought to the Fox Oakland on Wed, Feb 16.
Dan Snaith and company were in fine form. Bringing with him a full band, the sometimes cerebral Caribou really rocked! I was on the edge of my seat. The accompanying light show was a perfect accompaniment to the music, creating a tapestry of sound and light that hypnotized and dazzled.
Opening act Ela Minus really didn't add anything. She made some nice sounds on her mix table, recited some Laurie Anderson-esque lyrics and danced around on the stage a bit in almost complete darkness. Not to be too hard on her, she would have been fine in a club, but on the stage of the Fox Oakland she seemed a bit lost.
A performer. Not only were lights, staging, props & costumes stunning (yes this was THAT level of a performance), but the dancing and vocals were stellar. Twigs was as thoughtful, present & emotive as her music would indicate. (The pole dancing & wushu choreo, were visually stunning.) My only regret is that I didn't splurge on a ticket closer to the stage - I won't make that mistake twice if I get the chance to see Twigs again. The performance at this show was absolutely phenomenal!!! I can’t even put into words how content and in awe with amazement! The setting at Fox in Oakland was PERFECT for this type of stupendous show! As a tribal belly dancer myself, I was so filled with joy witnessing such great collaboration with every performer, musician and artist on that stage! AMAZED!!! So amazed that I’m searching for all of the names of the artists that performed with Balkan during their set. This is a MUST SEE!! In absolute love!!
Once in a lifetime experience. If you get a chance to see this band play, you will see grown men having the times of their lives on stage. They are in complete absolute joy playing the music of their youth. It is awesome to behold and a true musical pleasure to enjoy. This show and the benefit concert they performed last year were the two best shows I’ve ever seen in 35 years of attending live performances. Do yourself a favor and go see them perform.
