EXCELLENT CONCERT LAST NIGHT IN WORKPLAY, BIRMINGHAM, AL. My first time at that venue and a great show. Entertaining band, all 5 members were spectacular! Thank you for a great Wednesday evening.
The legendary Demon Hunter is my favorite band! 25 years of rocking hard and they still have massive energy and crowd participation. It's such a rare thing to see, and it is always a treat.
Cultist was the opener and they crushed it. I'd never heard them before. The bass player in particular was my favorite. Dude was so emphatic and egging on the crowd to circle up for a bit constantly. My only complaint was that their mix was nowhere near as good as the other two acts. It was very sharp and grating by comparison.
Convictions - never heard of them either, but I'm disappointed that I hadn't. These guys absolutely rock out. The songs were great, I would certainly like to see them again. If they aren't making waves they definitely will be soon. My wife, my friends, and I all agreed that they took the MVP title from the two openers but it was pretty close. The lead guitarist (not the long haired guy who sings cleans) did kinda look like he didn't really want to be there. I happened to notice him rolling his eyes and it seemed like he couldn't wait to get off stage when they were done. He just had very annoyed body language the whole time. He still crushed it though.
No regrets here! If I had to see this exact lineup and set list I'd do it again. Very pleasant experience. I'd have to say Workplay is my favorite smaller venue in Birmingham by far.
I can honestly say I was irritated on my way there but the moment I stepped in the building I started to feel better through the music. From the opening artist to Trevor Jackson it was worth the 4hr drive. Trevor didn’t leave us hanging he left us with a 🔥 performance.
This was the BEST Drake Bell concert I’ve ever been to! The audience, the venue, the vibes…such positivity and energy that fed Mr. Bell. I don’t think he wanted to stop performing because everyone was having such a great time! He’s always incredible, but this show hit different. It’ll forever be special for me. 💜
One of the best live shows I've ever seen- and, to think, the guys are all late 40s/early 50s. You'd never known Geoff was that age, the way he was bouncing all over the stage. Of course, it would've been easier to get any actual videos/photos if that one stereotypical group of 6'+ douchebags that shows up at every concert would've actually let shorter people in front, but oh well. It was Bham, so I didn't expect any actual common courtesy. But again, the show was phenomenal.🎵 💖🎶
Melted my face! Thanks to Josh at Workplay for hooking me up! To Obituary, Trevor Peres, who’s been my friend since I was his mailman back in 1998🤘Awesome show Trevor! To the Tardy bros who never fail to deliver! Go Metal Meowlisha! #adoptdontshop #TNR AND THE legendary Terry”The Creeper” Butler! Thanks for everything Terry! You’re an awesome dude and I’m so glad that I finally got to meet you! Shout out to the other badass bands. Girl power CRuShED iT big TImE the mighty
CASTRATOR! And a band that’s been around bringing Florida death metal INTOXICATED
THANKS GUYS! David Wills
One of the best concerts I’ve been to in a while. These guys have been doing it a while. All I can say is they kicked a*s. Half my face was melted off when I left.
Pete Yorn was amazing! He is a very friendly person and he is a very talented guitar player. The venue was great and he interacted with the crowd a lot. Before the concert, my life was doo doo. My wife had left me and my kids told me they didn’t love me, but for some strange reason, the power of Pete Yorn’s music has improved my life significantly as it has led me to worship the great Zarthron, destroyer of worlds. The concert was great! Pete Yorn? MORE LIKE PETE YAY!
Absolutely a fantastic experience to see Pet Sounds brought to life so respectfully. I think anything to honor the works of Brian Wilson must always be done with the upmost respect and they totally pulled it off. The guys were super talented and gracious to meet the fans after the show. I recommended they add Ding Dang to their setlist, and we launched into our own mini-performance in the lobby of Work Play. I think we were the only people under the age of 65 at the show, but that's ok. It was a great time. I hope these guys come back to town again.
Here Come the Mummies is always a great show. We see them nearly every time they're in town. The WorkPlay venue was also pretty good. It has a great vibe and a good concept. Because this crowd tends to skew a little more toward middle age and up, it would be great to have a few more seated options (cafe tables etc.) around the sides of the venue if possible. There were maybe two tables with stools at the very back, which is great. We had some folks visiting us who were interested in going to the show, but when they found out it was GA only with any seating unlikely, we had to eat the cost of their tickets. Since WorkPlay has a few different venues within the facility, that could be listed a little more clearly on the ticket when purchasing. There are some GA venues (e.g. Saturn, ABC, two venues where we've seen HCtM in the past) that sell GA tickets, but also have some seating on first-come-first-serve basis. Also, great to have access to water fountains right outside, but maybe some plastic cups etc. so that folks who want to hydrate could take them inside the venue while enjoying the show. Really cool venue though, and we definitely enjoyed it. The Mummies were amazing as usual and we also really enjoyed the new stuff they played. Good opener as well with Lachy Doley. We'll always try to make a show where HCtM are playing!
All three bands were phenomenal!!! I came to see HORSE THE BAND & NORMA JEAN and they KICKED A*S, obviously. I wasn't familiar with FOR YOUR HEALTH but they were damn good so getting to hear them live for the first time was pleasant surprise. This show was my youngest son's 1st live show and he absolutely LOVED IT. Now I have to get my oldest son and daughter to a good live show like this one.
This was my first real concert and it was AWESOME!! I'm not a huge metalhead, so the rest of the fest didn't super interest me, but the bands were still super cool! These guys put on a great, fun, silly and goofy show that is bound to have you smiling :) They were super nice too!! All around fantastic show! High energy, engaging, funny, and their music is top tier 💯 Would totally recommend!!!
I had a blast at this concert!!! Threw up half way through but fate prevailed that I was back in time for my favorite song!!! Also had a religious experience watching Sarah and The Safe Word perform as one of the openers!!!!
The show was everything and more. I have been a K camp fan before he had dreads lol. The keyboard, the guitar, and the singer made it very intimate and definitely felt like a Beautiful Conversation.
This was a lot of fun! The crowd was small but the energy from Gloom Girl and the openers Sick F* and Cinema Now was great! My mom and I had a lot of fun.
Amazing show by the musicians, the lights , the sound, and all of the venue staff. First experience with both the artist and the venue. Looking forward to doing it again!
Chill environment with the greatest vocals. Workplay is a great venue - clean, positive vibes, and good bar selection. The Verve Pipe is just simply one of the best bands in the US and made the night spectacular. Great three hours!!
Energy. Energy. ENERGY!!!
This band gives it all every night at every show that I have ever seen them! They require audience participation and it works great! So much fun and enjoyment and celebration of life and live music. Not to be missed if they come to your town!!
It was a very good concert all in all and i love young dolph and key glock very much. I do have a few things that weren’t very convenient, one is the actual concert didn’t start until almost an hour after it said it would, you also had to pay an underage fee if you under 21 which was not on the information tab. Other than that it was a very normal process and a good concert.
10000000/10 im so grateful to have gone to see them a second time on the mystic truth tour. the venue was small but more intimate than the last concert. meeting them was a big part of it too!!! love u guys and come back to the south soon!
