Hybrid Forms fucking blew me away. I moved to the Portland yesrs ago because I grew up with an idea of the music that flowed riverlike into the world from the PNW. Post-punk, experimental hardcore, showgaze with some heat… labels suck.
Now I need to find a reliable way to attend every event they have in Portland.
Sparta, even 20 years after Porcelain, nailed it. Fantastic show, 4.5/5
A much smaller venue than the night before, and the crowd less vocal but no less adoring. The new songs sound so much more powerful in a live setting than on record, and Angie is very endearing on stage. Shoutout to Le Ren for a great opening set.

Great show. Sound was not super great at the venue, but things are rarely perfect. Robots rhythm guitar was drowned out and overpowered by three bass and lead. Monsterwatch was an interesting performance, I enjoyed it. BB was awesome as usual. Overall a great show with talented openers.
Yes, I only rated 'em 4 ⭐s; keep in mind: a Big Business 4 is better than A LOT of bands' 10.
Anyhoodles, Jared's voice was a wee bit raspy and the sound guy was a bit off; however: Coady Willis! I could sit and watch Coady play drums all day, all night.
And I'm NOT sayin' Jared was slackin'. Nae, not at all! I just so happen to be a drummer, too, and THAT'S what primarily speaks to me.
Thank glob Coady Willis plays in/has played in THREE of my all-time faves: Big Business, Melvins, & High on Fire.
At any rate, with Big Business, ya always get the loud 'n' heavy, fuzz-storted bass and the loud 'n' heavy, bludgeoning beats! YES! "Too much" is never enough!
The venue was small, perfect for an intimate show!! Seth and Matthew were the shit. Excellent characters, super glad I got to share a piece of this experience with them!! Definitely will be attending next time they come around as well.
Sweet N Juicy were also very funkalicious and dope as well. I prefer rap, but they were pretty great.
Not sure who picked this line up. Nekromatixs did what they do best, and put on a great show. Out of the 4 other openers, Edgar Allen Posers where the only ones that grabbed my attention. The other 3 openers were…ummm…errrr….there to support the Nekromatixs. The bookie needs to look into the many other rockabilly, punkabilly, psychobilly bands.
This is the best concert i have ever been to the crowd was there tessa and Francis were both so real and working the crowd so well absolutely no regrets it was hot but only because everyone was jumping and the venue was small but it was immaculate!
Alexandra Kay's concert was fantastic! I had an amazing time! Her and her band work really well together and they are all wonderful, friendly people. Her opener, Tana, was awesome as well! So happy they came to Portland and hope to see them again in the future.
11/10. Unearth is one of the most electrifying bands in the history of music. Without all the gimmicky bs. They bring it hard night after night and never let up. Their riffs are relentless and Trevor’s vocals are absolutely brutal. If you’ve never seen Unearth live, you are missing out on an incredible performance. They are the masters of their trade.
My brother is a very long time fan/follower of Jerry Joseph so he suggested that he and my sister drive to Portland on New Year's and we could all go to this show. I loved it! It felt like kind of a Grateful Dead vibe with more energy and edge, plus some variety of genres. Everyone was dancing or moving to the music--seemed like not a single person who wasn't into it. Loved that it was a bit of an older crowd (like me!) but everyone was so enthusiastic. I'm a new fan!
Show was awesome!!!! Everyone killed it. Corrick Watson from Through The Roots filled in for Katchafire and the show went great. Sound was a little shitty but I blame the venue for that
A powerful, raw and visceral sonic catharsis. Better live than on their albums merely for the fact that everything is alive, being created in your presence and resounding through your flesh and bone.
I can't say how many times I got goosebumps; this show was my first time seeing Amenra and was the second time ever in my life that a live musical performance was powerful enough to wrest involuntary tears from my renitent eye sockets, genuinely excruciating yet healing— I needed that.
Deeply and authentically impressive artists and performance…
I find myself a day later still quietly reflecting and integrating as I did sitting after the show, watching people mill about the theater and slowly disappear.
Thank you for the best fucking time ever!!! I'd post a pic but all I have is videos right now. But I wish you would close your tour in Portland or come back through!!! I NEED MORE NIGHT CLUB AND HOLY WARS!!!!!!!!
I’ve been to 6 concerts in the last 5 weeks. This was the best show I’ve been to in a long time. The crowd was great and he puts on a fantastic show.
Beautiful performances from both Azam Ali and Yaima.
Azam, I have waited 10 years to see you live. What a wonderful, wonderful show. You are a gem and a treasure. I am so thankful I found your music and had the opportunity to see you perform live.
I was right up front for one of my favorite songwriters. I really couldn't have asked for anything more. The opening bands were inspired and unique and vastly talented. Just a great night of music.
It’s a bummer John was sick, but he still shredded. Last year his show was at Paris Theatre and the sound was shitty, and they put on a hell of a show still. John called the sound guy out for the terrible sound and absurd reverb on the snare. The sound guy then shut the whole sound system off, and John 5 lightly tossed his microphone out in the crowd. Hilarious, haha. They continued to put on a great show afterwards, even with no sound system, which the sound guy turned on after a song or two after John calling him out.
It’s unfortunate last year it was the crappy sound and then this year it was John being sick, which completely removed the theatrics of the show. There’s nothing you can do about it.
The whole band is phenomenal. Good show. John 5 rocks!
John 5 never disappoints! Jared James Nichols was there to rock your face off. DGA was a great hype band, and they played their asses off.
All 3 bands were amazing and can't wait to see each return
Love these guys and am glad to say they get no worse on the second time seeing them. Expect them shredding their hits and a few fun covers too. Always glad they come to Portland and bring quality tour mates like Gost and Daniel Deluxe!
