The vibe was extraordinary, first time I was blessed to experience the Quasi Kings and I told Benny Coleman that I would definitely Pay to seen them again 💯 I was able to gift him a Blessed Guardian Angel 👼🏻 pin and a Blessed Crystal 🤍
It was soooooooo great to see Eric, and the rest of the 16volt crew again here in Portland after all of these years. Their music is just as good as it was in the nineties, and everyone in the crowd was super hyped to have them back at the Star Theater again.
I have been to a lot of shows. However Opal In Sky has to be in my top 5 shows!!! They were beyond gracious with all the fans! The set was incredible played every song I wanted! Funny, charming got the crowd pumped. Touched my heart for real. It's never a bad thing that they are just so darn handsome as well! Thank you for seriously making it one incredible show!
Increíble 🙌🏽 what a party! I had a great time and nostalgia took over for those of us in the audience who knew the band well. Thank you to the Star Theatre and staff who were so friendly and kind. We had a great time and long Live Los Amigos Invisibles ❤️🙏🏽 🇻🇪
Absolutely phenomenal! It was such an intimate performance, even far in the back I felt I was close to them. The amount of power they brought was insane, and the light show was unforgettable! Niklas’ jokes made me laugh and their energy just made me happy :)
I felt genuinely sad it was over, it felt so quick! I can’t wait to see them again!
My first actual concert concert that wasn’t involved in other events lol the fair. The concert was amazing, she had a great attitude and all around was an amazing concert. I got to talk to Demi before and after the concert and he is a great guy, Sky was really friendly and just amazing. The concert itself was amazing and I had an amazing time and got good videos and pictures. And I got merch and autographs
Crypta played great last Saturday 9/27/25. But the person running the sound ruined the show. Every band was all snare and overhead mics. The snare and ride cymbal was all anyone can hear. Most the fans I talked to said the same and that was the same for all three bands. Could not hear guitar solos, the vocals were hardly in the mix. Even the kick drums were muffled. I am not sure I would pay 30+ dollars to go to the Star again. I would go see Crypta again for sure Everything else was good. Just horrible sound.
Hybrid Forms f*****g blew me away. I moved to the Portland yesrs ago because I grew up with an idea of the music that flowed riverlike into the world from the PNW. Post-punk, experimental h******e, showgaze with some heat… labels s**k.
Now I need to find a reliable way to attend every event they have in Portland.
Sparta, even 20 years after Porcelain, nailed it. Fantastic show, 4.5/5
A much smaller venue than the night before, and the crowd less vocal but no less adoring. The new songs sound so much more powerful in a live setting than on record, and Angie is very endearing on stage. Shoutout to Le Ren for a great opening set.
Great show. Sound was not super great at the venue, but things are rarely perfect. Robots rhythm guitar was drowned out and overpowered by three bass and lead. Monsterwatch was an interesting performance, I enjoyed it. BB was awesome as usual. Overall a great show with talented openers.
Yes, I only rated 'em 4 ⭐s; keep in mind: a Big Business 4 is better than A LOT of bands' 10.
Anyhoodles, Jared's voice was a wee bit raspy and the sound guy was a bit off; however: Coady Willis! I could sit and watch Coady play drums all day, all night.
And I'm NOT sayin' Jared was slackin'. Nae, not at all! I just so happen to be a drummer, too, and THAT'S what primarily speaks to me.
Thank glob Coady Willis plays in/has played in THREE of my all-time faves: Big Business, Melvins, & High on Fire.
At any rate, with Big Business, ya always get the loud 'n' heavy, fuzz-storted bass and the loud 'n' heavy, bludgeoning beats! YES! "Too much" is never enough!
The venue was small, perfect for an intimate show!! Seth and Matthew were the s**t. Excellent characters, super glad I got to share a piece of this experience with them!! Definitely will be attending next time they come around as well.
Sweet N Juicy were also very funkalicious and dope as well. I prefer rap, but they were pretty great.
Not sure who picked this line up. Nekromatixs did what they do best, and put on a great show. Out of the 4 other openers, Edgar Allen Posers where the only ones that grabbed my attention. The other 3 openers were…ummm…errrr….there to support the Nekromatixs. The bookie needs to look into the many other rockabilly, punkabilly, psychobilly bands.
11/10. Unearth is one of the most electrifying bands in the history of music. Without all the gimmicky bs. They bring it hard night after night and never let up. Their riffs are relentless and Trevor’s vocals are absolutely brutal. If you’ve never seen Unearth live, you are missing out on an incredible performance. They are the masters of their trade.
My brother is a very long time fan/follower of Jerry Joseph so he suggested that he and my sister drive to Portland on New Year's and we could all go to this show. I loved it! It felt like kind of a Grateful Dead vibe with more energy and edge, plus some variety of genres. Everyone was dancing or moving to the music--seemed like not a single person who wasn't into it. Loved that it was a bit of an older crowd (like me!) but everyone was so enthusiastic. I'm a new fan!
I didn't realize it would be a solo acoustic show. A little underwhelming. Lotta people showed up high on acid (Portland, amirite?) expecting a real psychrock experience but lol. Joke was on them. The venue was absolutely packed to the gills. There's no way they were at or under capacity. Kinda worrying. Hardly any room to walk or even stand. The upper balcony was soooooooooooooooooo far away from the stage too. Mostly I stood 10 feet away from the stage near the emergency exit. The security guy was very busy. The patio outside kinda sucked honestly. Not a lot of cover. Not a lot of available seats. I wouldn't do this show over. The venue was pretty though.
A powerful, raw and visceral sonic catharsis. Better live than on their albums merely for the fact that everything is alive, being created in your presence and resounding through your flesh and bone.
I can't say how many times I got goosebumps; this show was my first time seeing Amenra and was the second time ever in my life that a live musical performance was powerful enough to wrest involuntary tears from my renitent eye sockets, genuinely excruciating yet healing— I needed that.
Deeply and authentically impressive artists and performance…
I find myself a day later still quietly reflecting and integrating as I did sitting after the show, watching people mill about the theater and slowly disappear.
Beautiful performances from both Azam Ali and Yaima.
Azam, I have waited 10 years to see you live. What a wonderful, wonderful show. You are a gem and a treasure. I am so thankful I found your music and had the opportunity to see you perform live.
It’s a bummer John was sick, but he still shredded. Last year his show was at Paris Theatre and the sound was s****y, and they put on a hell of a show still. John called the sound guy out for the terrible sound and absurd reverb on the snare. The sound guy then shut the whole sound system off, and John 5 lightly tossed his microphone out in the crowd. Hilarious, haha. They continued to put on a great show afterwards, even with no sound system, which the sound guy turned on after a song or two after John calling him out.
It’s unfortunate last year it was the crappy sound and then this year it was John being sick, which completely removed the theatrics of the show. There’s nothing you can do about it.
The whole band is phenomenal. Good show. John 5 rocks!
