I was always a bit sad that I never got to see mclusky and now I have and it was great. Love these guys. Half a star off because I forgot my damn wallet and couldn’t buy merch.
Was late to discover the Black Eyes and always so bummed we never caught them live. So grateful for the show Friday night!! Black Eyes did not disappoint and brought their righteous rock and roll to life! It was fantastic!❤️
I really liked the venue other than the lack of parking, which isn’t the venue’ fault. But more importantly, the band was outstanding. Played a good mix of new and old, mellow and rockin’, and even some Shapeshifters stuff. And you could just tell the band was having an awesome time playing for everyone. Really enjoyable and a lot more chill than the Goatwhore and Cannibal Corpse shows I usually (and will continue to) frequent. Christian Lopez was really good, too. Wasn’t familiar with him before this show but definitely a fan now. Also apparently hotties like Shawn James and Christian Lopez because the placed was packed with 10’s. Best smelling show I’ve ever been to.
Mae put on a great show as always. The venue was a really good spot to get a small, intimate experience with the band. The performance was excellent with vocals and music well balanced despite not getting to do a sound check.
After the show, they did a meet and greet, which was awesome to get to chat briefly with such wonderful creators! Can't wait to see them, agajn!
I’d never seen Thalia live before at all. What an incredible performer. Saw her at the merch table between the opener’s act and Come. Then a bit later she went on stage. No pretense, no emotional distance. And that voice.
A few songs in, it was clear that something special was happening. It was a genuinely lovely, intimate show.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. For starters the Black Cat is just a cool open venue. It’s not huge, it’s got personality and grit to it. I’ve seen a few shows there and always enjoy them. It’s a great atmosphere, tonight it had a laid back crowd. The opening act was a new local band named Pinky Lemon open. They were a cool band from Washington D.C. . They definitely have a lot to learn, but performed a decent opening set. The Dandy Warhols were pretty good. They played songs from past to present. They’re stage presence was lively, especially Zia the keyboard, bass synthesizer play. She definitely brought great energy. They had moments where they definitely hit this great psychedelic sound. I loved how the lead singer would switch between his two microphones while singing. There sound live is just as it is on their albums. Once they played there closing set Zia stayed on stage a bit longer playing the Korg synthesizer. The sound she produced was trippy and very cool. It was a great way to close out the show, then she dj’s for a while for a little after party in the back bar. Zia and the guitarist Peter Holmström came out after performing showed love to fans and took pictures with people. That was me second time seeing The Dandy Warhols and they’re definitely worth seeing!
Such a cool club and pretty big concert space. Great performance from Marielle. She’s always great at capturing the audience and getting people to participate. Test Drive is my fave and I’m so glad she sang it and of course her new songs. Loved it! Definitely wasn’t enough time though lol
It was so amazing!!!
All the songs were so good :)
The song Habibi was so wonderful and the end part surprised me so, so much how good it was (better than every vision that I ever heard)
I will go to the concert in Europe if I am back 🤍
This was my third time seeing the Melvins and I'd have to say that this was the best yet. Great setlist, rocking performance, and Steve is my new favorite bassist. So awesome to experience one of my long time favs with my two sons!
They always pit on a great show. Last night was a bit more special not sure if it was because of the small crowd or what. I almost skipped the show because I was in a terrible mood but I'm so glad I went it was an awesome show.
Show was absolutely amazing, but the security was horrible. Kept changing the venues rules throughout when the band got there, even started hassling the bands photographer who they had definitely seen before & during the show. Definitely never want to deal with Black Cat again.
I wish I still had the Videos and photos of that day, it was a Phenomenal show my very first Band to see live and I was definitely not disappointed it's such an amazing experience and was so stoked to hear all my favorite songs being performed! Thank you Okkervil River for the Best Performance and beautiful show I've ever seen! Cant wait for more!
Wovenhand was excellent- I went to see OM, but Wovenhand stole the show. I wasn’t familiar with them but I’m glad they were there and I was able to get to the venue in time to see them, because OM pretty much sucked. After the first two songs, every other song sounded EXACTLY the same, and the drummer although he is skilled, plays the same damn drum patterns every song is predictable. I played pinball instead of watching them. They were full and no groove. Wovenhand was rad, and I’m a new fan.
2 hours full of new & oldies from GBV. I loved it - Pollard lives to drink and it’s crazy how he starts the show somewhat sober & ends the show pretty much “toasted”...
A guy in the front row was giving him updates on the Ohio State football scores, only to find Pollard wasn’t much of a sports fan. By the way...Ohio State beat Wisconsin 34-21.
The best live show I've seen in years! Definitely in my top 5 all time concert experiences. The crowd was amazing... the Menzingers have some of the best fans in the punk community if you ask me. The openers were really good, too. The venue was cool. Pretty wide open except for a few pillars. Bar was cash only, fyi. Staff were fine and did their jobs appropriately. The guy at the door was very cool and helpful! 10/10 would recommend the venue + 11/10 would recommend seeing The Menzingers live!
Incredible.
Fun, passionate, genuine. I’ve listened to them since I somehow stumbled upon Exquisite Corpse on iTunes a couple weeks after it dropped and finally got to see them. That closing song with jennylee was also unexpected, painfully relatable, and unforgettable.
Opening act was great and the band itself was great, crowd was mediocre/annoying. Some stupid asshole in glasses came out of nowhere and started to shove and throw himself in a sorry attempt to start some kind of moshpit?? It was infuriating and only led to others nearby doing the same dumb shit. I was in the front and lost my place bc I had to get away or else I’d get caught in between. Mfs acting like this was a metal show and not an indie band we were seeing. These dumbasses nearly ruined my first time seeing them/being in that venue.
Performance was great, Venue sucked and they probably shouldn’t get bands that are rowdy and have crowdsurfers if they prohibit it. Their was a issue with a security guard and then the band itself which I feel like did kinda ruin the bands mood.
Every musician in every band was special. There was not one weak link on stage. This was my first time seeing opener the Blasters. Wow, what great personalities and musicianship. Junior Brown, headliner in my book, came next. He was incredible as always. Telling short stories and showing off acoustic guitar playing wife who you could tell was thoroughly enjoying herself. She sang one song and could easily be a headliner herself. Reverend Horton was at the top of his game putting on a blistering Rockabilly show and education several DC libtards that fun isn't just about hating Donald Trump and anything American. I had to leave to catch the metro missing the end of the Heat. If Big Sandy came on last, I missed him. I do like the Black Cat but they can sideline the retarded liberal thing they are projecting to the public. You might get admirers who look like Carpenters but wouldn't know which end on the hammer to use to hit the nail...but, smart folks don't need your liberal crap.
Dermot and his band absolutely killed the show. I’ve never been in a more magical and all encompassing environment in my life. The music was better than I could have ever imagined. Keep on making heartbreakingly beautiful music man.
