First, Yoshi's is a top venue to see a show. Not a bad seat in the house. Sound quality is very good.
SNZ are a wonderful band to see live. They are quite the characters on stage. They all dress to the nines. Had a great concert experience. Thank you Yoshi's and SNZ
Cheers,
David
He was awesome and we do not use that word often. Lot's of energy and wonderful interaction with everyone.
I was very surprised at the music. Not the quality but the variety. The name Smooth Jazz is often looked down upon but this was far from smooth. It was "rough" and Marion and his cohorts were superlative.
Will see him again. Rating of 10!

The show was fantastic, P Funk Allstar RonKat plays his original tunes which he sometimes blends with P funk grooves. The nice sized crowd was on the dance floor from the first to the last notes. RonKat's singing is beautiful, he's a fantastic guitarist and his vocals are beautiful and strong. RonKat's funk is real. You can always count on RonKat to entertain you and give you a fresh set every show.
His band Katdelic had three guitarists,(RonKat, Johnny Cotto and Charles Spikes), Drums (Hassan Hurd) keytar/keyboards (Luke Sailor) vocalist/Sax (Lisa Lynn Preston), two bassists (Angeline Saris and Kirk Peterson) and Eric "EQ" Young on bass made nine Kats. There were three bassists on stage for all of "EQ's" special guest features. "EQ" was on fire while playing his signature lead bass sound, his solos and stage presence were really entertaining.
The sound production team was really good because the music was mixed perfectly so you never felt overwhelmed with too much bass nor did it overpower the other instruments or vocals.
Yoshis itself is always a great venue to see a show, a really friendly staff and the food is really tasty too.
Overall we all had a really good time listening to really good music in a great environment.
Incredible show! We loved every second of it! Al played one of my all time favorite songs, “Senor Mouse” and many of my other favorites. Al’s my all time favorite guitarist and the musicians he had with him were amazing also! Thanks Al!
My Jessy J experience was off the chain!
From the beginning she was approachable at her merch table she signed my t-shirt and CDs and took photos with me !
And during the show she play my favorites looking forward to attending another show of hers👍🏿
Although many people may not know this band, they are the best instrumental contemporary jazz group ever created. Five outstanding musicians combine to create some of the most rhythmic and melodic tunes. The new keyboard player is awesome too. I would love to know more about the solo Miles played on Passion Play. I learned to play about a dozen of their songs using Band-in-a-Box to support me. They are a true inspiration. Glad to see they are still touring. Too bad the show only lasted 75 minutes and no encore. Now I have to wait until next year.
I bought tickets and dinner (Yoshi's) for my band members. This was an awsome set. As a band leader, I was really impressed at he flow, relaxed stage presence and banter with the audience. Also learned he has roots here in The Bay. The music was killin!!!! Very nice Jarod. Very nice.
As always, Jon is a class act. I love that he's been touring with just himself and the piano these past couple of years. It's very intimate and he gets to really showcase his talents in an "unplugged" setting, coming up with new arrangements in solo piano accompaniment for his signature songs. His voice is like a nice bourbon, woodsy and raspy and rough around the edges, but always goes down buttery smooth. Paired with his virtuosic classical-piano-level chops on a beautiful Steinway grand piano, and his quirky deadpan storytelling in between songs, you really just feel like you're in the room at a jam session with an old friend, and that's one of the best feelings in the world. Seeing Jon is always a treat.
Beyond incredible. So much talent on that stage. It's been 10 years since I saw him last. And he blew me away again. It was my husband's first time hearing his music and is now a huge fan.
Thank you for such an incredible evening
Johnny A. is always terrific in concert. He said he was suffering from food poisoning, but it didn’t affect the performance one bit. He also sang for the first time in one of the “Just Me and My Guitars” shows, opening with “Morning Dew” and singing “Sittin’ On Top of the World” later on. Really good voice. Who knew? He’s always a very engaging performer, telling stories between songs. If you like music at all, if you ever get a chance to see Johnny A., don’t even think about it, just go. And the Yoshi’s experience is always fantastic. Great food, great staff and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
What an incredible venue Yoshi's is to see superstar Boney James! The venue is very intimate (400 people or less) and we were fortunate enough to be seated front and center to the stage. Not only is Boney James a consummate musician, I love the way he engages with his audience. The show was over 90 minutes but if I had my way he could have played all night. It's no wonder he's my favorite!
My wife and I are big fans of Chris Standring. We had another couple join us, and drove from the Sacramento area to Oakland for dinner, the show, and our over nite stay at the Marriott. We were first timers to Yoshi’s, but recommendations from a couple we had met at Napa Blue Note (our favorite for Cjazz) said the food was great, and the venue was really good too.
First timers: Do your homework. Although the neighborhood has been cleaned up and a great deal of new development has taken place, there are still homeless and the occasional street hustler to contend with. Parking is attached to the venue, and Yoshi’s does validate. We paid $6.75, hardly a big city parking rate.
First timers: Avoid the general admission rush for tables. We ate dinner at Yoshi’s, and we were presented with tickets in the second row. We could enter the performance area at any time before the show.
Chris and his band mates put on a great show. Not every performer verbally connects with the audience, but Chris did so much to everyone’s enjoyment. Five out of five for sure.
Minor complaints: The set could have been longer, and one or two more songs would have did it. My other complaint was the chairs. My seventy-three year old back could have been more comfortable.
Would I see Chris again? Sure! And, if you do see him, congratulate him regarding his upcoming wedding.
I was listening to Jessy J's Blue CD On my way to yoshi's oakland , And at the show she played every song and didn't disappoint ,
Jessy J,pleasing to the eye and personable.
She gave each band member much props by doing features, very humble woman voice to go with her sax.
Very good show I needed that .
Vincent is an amazing performer….. he is engaging, very talented… saxophone, drums, guitar and singing! This is the first time seeing him as solo entertainer and he did not disappoint. His band is also great with extremely talented musicians. A great show!! I have seen him perform before and this will not be my last time…a fun Monday evening! Thank you, Vincent🎷🎷
The Yoshi's venue in Oakland, Ca. is a great place to have dinner and catch a show. In this case, Fleetwood Mask did not disappoint! They are great at what they do, which is, perform Fleetwood Mac songs. I only wish they would dive deeper into the Fleetwood Mac catalog. Other than that, if you haven't seen them, you really should!
Damien was fantastic! We enjoyed the concert! I have attended 5 of his concerts since 2016, 3 of them at Yoshi’s. I am hoping they will have meet and greets again like they did in 2019 at Yoshi’s as the last 2 times they didn’t due to Covid. But in 2019 I got to talk to him and take a photo. I hope we will be able to next time.
Chanté Moore live is a must-see. She began the show with a high energy, feel good song and that was exactly the energy throughout the night: lots of crowd engagement and input, a stellar band, fun covers, beautiful renditions of her biggest hits. Yoshi's is also such an ideal venue for the comfortable, intimate show Moore planned. Her incredible voice and powerful message made me teary eyed multiple times throughout the show. I can't WAIT to see her live again!

First time seeing the legend and Clarke was of course excellent and he has surrounded himself with an awesome group of young virtuosos prodigies on keys, drums, tabla, and sax. The band was phenomenally amazing in a great, legendary, Bay Area jazz venue. Stanley played electric for two tunes than switched to upright the rest of the night. He played two shows a night and we went to the earlier show. The only thing I didn’t like about the show was that it ended too soon! It was over after about an hour which was sooner than I expected. The final song was a percussion feature with little to no bass as I recall. No encore, no School Days, no Lopsy Lu (unless he played some variation of it at one point it was hard to tell). Maybe the later show was extended a little more and he played more ‘hits’. For an artist with this 50 year legacy there is a vast amount of material to choose from for a shorter setlist where time is limited. I just assumed there’s no way he can play a gig at this point without some version of School Days at least as an encore.
Wow….. what can I say? Did not know how much I missed live music. John & the blue dream brought their “A” game. An incredible night of music. I liked John’s show so much I made all 3 Bay Area shows. Can’t wait to see his John again. Don’t delay, buy your tickets now!
I always catch his shows whenever he’s in the Bay Area or Las Vegas. My first time going to Yoshi’s last night. Had dinner first and then they gave me reserved seating in front! Kenny G was awesome as usual. He loves the intimate setting and mingling with his fans. His band members are incredible. Must’ve seen him over a dozen times in the last 2 years. Can’t wait for the next one!
