Fantastic show. For anyone that enjoys the music and animation of the legendary anime Cowboy Bepop than I would highly recommend seeing Bebop Bounty Big Band. All of the artists on stage we extremely talented and the visuals added to the performance. They took you through all the highs of the show, Also, as an avid concert goer, I can say Variety Playhouse is one of my favorites. Ample seating for those that book in advance, and the staff has always been freindly.
Marty Stuart always delivers a great performance. His band, the Fabulous Superlatives, are super musicians and they appear to really enjoy playing together. In this age of overpriced concert tickets, the cost to see a Marty Stuart show is very reasonable and the music is genuine country music and none of this modern semi pop rock rap country music stuff. We enjoyed another great show.
It can be more than iffy these days watching Anton Newcombe perform live on tour with the ever-changing current band members. Joel Gion was there, thankfully, but even he couldn't contain Anton's agitation and antics with a few audience members or prevent the god-awful five minute pauses to allow Anton to adjust--whatever. Irritating. Newcombe also kept his back to the audience most of the time, presumably so he could better berate his drummer. But, the songs were brilliant, a soulful mix of old and new, though in general the whole gig lacked vibrancy. BJM was tired. Not like a year ago, when they were solid. Many people just sat in the Variety's seats, and some left.
I drove for 10 hours both times to get there. So my judgment is obviously suspect.
I loved how the band mixed older music with the newer.
Steve Kilbey showed he has a great sense of humor introducing the serious music from the new album. His band performed at a high level of excellence.
I last saw the Church in 1988 and was thrilled that I got to see them again.
Variety Playhouse is one of the best venues in town and it seems more serious music lovers attend shows there than other venues in town.
I highly recommend THE HYMNOGUE, the newest album by the Church.
So happy I finally got to see a James Bay live in Atlanta. Great performance. He was engaging with the audience, and you could tell he loved that so many people knew the words to his songs. He changed guitars with every song. His guitar solo was intense. His encore performance was well received. The audience kept wanting more.
Looking forward to his next concert in Atlanta!
This is one of the most iconic bands I have ever seen. The Variety Playhouse is the perfect venue for this band to perform at with the large elevated stage and sunk in dance floor. It’s great for sing alongs and lots of dancing. They are the best 80’s Bands ever with a amazing twist of videos from popular songs and commercials while singing and playing with the video. It is amazing what they have done on stage. If you haven’t seen this band your really missing out. I can’t wait to see them in the tribute band hall of fame.
Hometown Sisters returned to a sold out Home crowd to finish off their US swing. They showed up with full burners on to Kick Ass and Take Names with a FANTASTIC HIGH ENERGY SHOW. Amazing talents who have a ball on stage and are living proof that ROCK AND ROLL IS FAR FROM DEAD........GREAT FUN SHOW! They are the new Anne and Nancy Wilson of today.
I cannot think a a better birthday present to myself!
IF YOU GET A CHANCE!! GO SEE THEM!! THEY ARE THE REAL DEAL AND FUN TO BOOT!!!
Jorma was great.
The Variety Playhouse was terrific as usual.
David Bromberg acted like a pompous ass. Someone in the audience asked Bromberg to play Mr Bojangles. David replied to the audience that was unacceptable and for sure he would not perform Mr. Bojangles.
David also commented he was fucking 77 years old, had 3 more shows left on this tour and then he was going to retire.
His quintet was good.
For some inexplicable reason Jorma and David did not do a curtain call. I've been to 100's of shows in my 79+ years and can remember that happening only once before.
I saw them perform together in 2016 and I'm almost positive they played jointly together then. not separately as they did last night.
I am giving my review. You do not have my permission to publish my name.
One of the best and tightest sets from them in years. Didn't say a word for the first twenty minutes--just plowed through a ton of obviously well-rehearsed music. The reworked Fly Me Courageous was a huge highlight. And Laur's slide work is more centrally integrated into the new structure and some of the old stuff. Loved the call and response stuff between him and Kevn. Can't believe how good this band still is and how they're still growing. We all just locked into the groove and danced our asses off. A ton of fun
Another fantastic show full of feel-good music! This was our second time seeing The Mavericks but first time at an indoor venue. Their show translates better indoors as they make a nice connection with the audience. Raul Malo sounds as beautiful as ever and the band continues to be a group of first-rate musicians. Truly The Mavericks may be the best band most people have never heard of!
No opening act, no music playing in the venue before they came on staged. Jason looks like he is not doing very well judging by the way he walked slowly onto the stage to his chair. There was almost no crowd interaction at all other than a wave or two and a “Thank You” at the end. The band is set up to face each other rather than the audience. It sets the tone that you are there to watch them play not for them to play for you (and that’s not a bad thing). The lights were great except for the few times when they blinded the audience with them for what seemed like a few minutes. The set list is identical to what they have been playing at other shows. Laser Guided Melodies is my favorite release, so, I loved “Shine A Light” but was wishing for more. The show was a very good representation of Spiritualized .. melodic plus mayhem. I loved seeing them and would recommend everyone who likes the go and to take someone who has never heard them along. A truly unique experience.
Olan! We are going to make Bandsintown a thing! Excited to continue following your success, and what a joy to meet you after following you for over a decade on Youtube. Your show in Atlanta was fantastic. So. Funny. So. Genuine. Clean and hilarious comedy. Will go to see you again the next time you are on tour! Or! Mondaes!! So stoked! So glad I got run into you at the Vortex after. Should have asked how you were, bought you a drink, and introduced myself instead of taking a photo. Maybe next time!
Been following Pat Metheny since 1979 and all the variations on the groups of talent musicians that he both collaborates and tours with... This show surely didn't disappoint! Just 3 musicians played amazing reimaginations of his music catalog and as always, Pat's solo guitar work in so Intriguing and complex, just watching him play is an adventure in itself. Wishing them a successful world tour and will always look forward to new music!
most excellent show - Pat Metheny was on ... really liked Joe Dyson on the drums and James Francies on keyboards.
Finishing the night with 'Are you going with me?' was awesome. loved hearing 'Bright Size Life' as well as some things i was less familiar with. just friggin amazing evening ... so glad we went, and with the Variety Playhouse having the center front rows ... best seats in a great venue
Awesome set. They played a ton of their past catalogue, previewed a couple tracks from their coming album, and tacked on a couple of odds and ends. They played a couple bluegrass instrumentals, and I'm always amazed at how well they swap between lead and rhythm with each other. Not quite Fleck and Douglas, but a ton of sound coming from two folks. Mainly, though, just always amazed at how well they write, and their live set just made that all the more obvious. A blast.

Without a doubt one of the best musical performances I ever witnessed! First I was right up front to the right, and seeing as I was there early I got to see the two fantastic openers. Moontower I had never heard of before that evening but their entire debut album is now a playlist favorite. Fantastic energy and fantastic crowd interaction! The Wrecks I knew pretty well, but live they were on a whole other level. The instrumentalists were absolutely KILLER and moved all throughout the stage, and the lead singer had me fangirling through the entire set. Finally when the driver era came on I thought I was on another plane of existence. They created a unique ambience with every piece they performed and literally took my breath away. I’ve been following the lynch family as musicians for years now and to see them grow into this mature group was absolutely mind boggling. I stood right in front of Riker and he was SO engaging (and the bass is my favorite instrument). It was clear that in ever song each member was really feeling the music and that shone through in the performance. AMAZING JOB GUYS!!
Great show! Band felt relaxed and could stretch their feet a little by not having to rush through a set. Sorry UFO had to cancel, that would have been a treat to see. But was made up by a longer two set show. After seeing the band here at this same venue over the last five years they finally played “I Love The Night” that I dearly wanted to hear. They also played some other little played songs also. Well worth it.

Oh.....my....gyaaaa. he was absolutely amazing. I sat front row directly in front of him and I I couldnt ask for anything better except for him to keep playing all night. I cannot wait for him to come back. I will definitely go every time he comes to ga and now possibly any surrounding states. He is also funny as he**. Loved it. The crowd was great too
