El Rey Theatre

The show was really good, and Tech was awesome, as always, but he only played for an hour. Tech was saying it was hot as hell in the venue, and it was really hot in there. I've seen Tech like 10x in Chico, at The Senator Theater right down the street, and he always plays for at least an hour and a half to two hours. I think the heat and lack of AC in the building forced him to end his show after an hour. To be honest, the El Rey Theater isn't the type of venue for a Tech N9ne show. It's mostly seating, and there's not much of a General Admission/Standing Room Only area. The El Rey is more suited for like a stand-upp comedian show or a stage band where people aren't going to be dancing or trying to crowd the stage. It's definitely not the type of venue for a rap artist or anything where people are dancing. I can't believe they have "raves" here (or what idiot little spoiled rotten brat white kids from the bay area and socal think is a "rave," which it isnt) or "EDM shows" (which are basically house music shows, because all Electronica isn't "EDM" like those sane idiot kids mentioned above don't know anything about Electonia or its genres, so they try to use a blanket term, showing how dumb they are) with whack ass computer assist DJs as I like to call them, with no natural talent on the Wheels of Steel). Thumbs down on this choice of venue, it really kind of killed the show.

Great show, well put together. The outfit changes for Paulie were a kick. Paulie had lots of charisma and really got the crowd into it. I was one of the twits in the crowd that didn’t understand when he wanted the crowd to be silent, but I thought he was wanting noise, duh! My wife and I had a great time! Will see them again in Chico or another place in the area. The only knock is the sound volume of Paulie could have been mixed a bit louder. We had a hard time hearing him though the music sometimes. Overall, great show, look forward to seeing them again, and would highly recommend to anyone considering checking them out.
