Fredericton Playhouse

Jimmy Rankin was very entertaining. His stories were interesting and funny. He and his 2 band mates were excellent and very polished and tight. One of the best shows that my wife and I have seen at the Playhouse.

It was wonderful to see the band again, after about three years! My only concern was that their own sound guy ( they call him “the seventh band member”) kept the drums and (I think) the Chapman Stick so loud that it was hard to hear the other instruments. I rarely heard the mandolin or the accordion. A couple of times even the bagpipes were almost drowned out! I could hear that Ian was playing the pipes, but I couldn’t hear individual notes. To me, one of the best things about Rawlins Cross is the lovely mix of instruments, so I hope that the sound mixing is changed for the rest of the tour.
