PHENOMENAL! AMAZING! STRUT-TASTIC!Must-see-live! There is almost no one else like them. Luke Spiller is one of THE BEST FRONTMEN of all time. Dare I say- Freddie-incarnate?? And the rest of the band are no slouch! You can tell they work their asses off to put on a good show and they did not disappoint! Their energy is infectious and positive and exactly what the world needs.
Moneen has been my favorite live band for a very long time. I’ve seen them play living rooms, basements, record store back rooms, community centers, a teen center in Southern California where no one knew them and Hellfest. This show after many years lived up to all my memories. If you ever have a chance to see Moneen, do it! Also Sparta playing Wiretap Scars!!!
They absolutely brought the heat to the show, and I couldn't have been more satisfied! I also really appreciated that they did a proper M&G so the fans got a chance to quickly chat with them before the photo rather than the typical 'you got 5 secs to say hi, snap a pic and move on". Every member was super soft-spoken, polite and appreciative of people coming to their show.
Door was at 1930, but the show didn't start until 2100 which I think was the venue's policy to maximize their revenue. It's understandable, though I wish it started a bit earlier rather than having to wait 90 mins.
Overall, I had an absolute blast with STP last night. High energy and lots of crowd interaction. I love you crazy motherfuckers!!🤘🤘🤘
An absolutely amazing show!!! This was my 3rd time seeing Cooper perform live, and this was the best show yet! He and Thomas Mac are so good!!! They bought it for nearly 3 hours! Super high energy, crown participation, fun and shenanigans! I loved it!
The venue was fantastic and the staff were helpful, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The sound was fabulous and the artist Tove Lo was sensational. Definitely worth the 2 (due to medical postponement) trips from out of province to see her. I would have stayed for another night to see her perform again or to include a couple more of her hits that did not make it in this performance. Her merchandise was fantastic but did not include everything (about 85% of the selection) on her website with lots of various sizes.
Fucked Up was great, but the sound guy’s mix was not. Sandy’s mic was never turned up, and is pretty pivotal to the weight of a couple of songs.
Halluci Nation was great, great set. There is no show I can recall recently with such diametrically opposed styles of music being played together at a show. That was pretty awesome.
Clutch played like the pros they are. The line up was anticlimactic. Their set list focused on more obscure and new-album songs. The sound at the Commodore was bad like the Wiltern in Los Angeles - Jean Paul’s cymbals dominated the mix and Tim’s guitars were an indecipherable bassy muffle fuzz. Neil’s vocals popped, so that’s a positive. Also the floor at the Commodore is sprung, so that’s wonderful on audience bodies! But was so sticky, it was dangerous. No one could mosh or even dance. It took great effort to lift a foot away from the floor due to how infrequently it is mopped, I’m guessing. Always fun to hear Clutch play.
Carcass were fucking incredible! They never disappoint. Even if the supporting acts were kind of meh, Carcass totally made up for that. Security were helpful, professional and respectful in handling the crowd surfing and moshing chaos. Was a wicked and memorable show. The Commodore Ballroom is always a great venue to see metal shows imo 🤟🏻💀
They put on an amazing performance, great setlist and great venue - my issue for not 5 stars was the sound - not the venue but sound person was bad - could barely hear Peter sing half the time and Leah sound wasn't great either, music too loud over powering voices
Opening band crown lands was absolutely amazing!
There's something in the water down in Tennessee, or maybe it's the whiskey. Larkin Poe proved that they sure can play, serving up like a shot of Tennessee Whisky, wowing a packed Commodore Ballroom, leaving Vancouver enthralled. They put on an incredibly entertaining concert., rocking & rolling, with a Bluesy undertone, plus a touch of country, & a little bit of gospel thrown in for good measure. It was high energy & fully entertaining from start to finish. For those who were there, many seeing Larkin Poe for the fist time,, we hope we won't have to wait too long to welcome them back
5 Stars out of 5
OMG! What a fantastic show!! I go to a LOT of shows - always have - AND I'm a musician so my bar is set pretty high. This show was killer good in every way. Digging Roots were fantastic - mother, father and son! Wow. Great music, great message. And then all those "mature" men in BARK playing their asses off for 2 and a half hours!! Add into all that goodness Terry Lightfoot and Colin James joining in - WOW!!! It was stellar. I've seen Colin Linden many times and love him. Amazing songwriter, slide player and singer. Stephen Fearing I've also seen before and love. I've never seen Tom Wilson but certainly know of him (Junkhouse) and holy hell - he's incredible live! I particularly loved when he read from his book and told us that he's Mohawk. There were a ton of musicians in the audience which we all know means it's actually a "happening". And it was. I came out of there full to the brim with the good feeling you get from a really fab show. Thank you!!
Front row the whole show! I could not stop jumping and dancing around 💕 banger after banger tracks with a beautidul breathwork mid show! I threw everything I had on the dance floor with zero regrets in my sweaty mess. It was a celebration of feeling good with beautiful people family friends and strangers giving goodness into the air the ballroom was ALIVE 😌 the preformance turned my 6's to 9's!!!
What an amazing show at the Commodore last night. Nils , Amy and Paul were spot on and put an incredible show on for us. Was looking forward to this show all year and was not disappointed. Only wish they were head lining the show because we were left wanting more. Can't wait to see them again !!!!
The best show! The most talented artist and genuine person I have seen in years! A true performer, and song writer with such a gorgeous voice . And Mahalia has such an intense energy on the stage that if you did not know any of her songs, you will not only know majority of the lyrics before the show is over but your feet and hips will be sore from all the uncontrollable dancing. Can’t wait to hear her next songs and see her and her amazing band live ! ❤️
Spoon is a great rock band! They were having so much fun their energy was infectious. It was a tight show with new songs from Lucifer blending seamlessly with the best of their catalog. They rocked the Commodore with tight guitars, incredible beats, great vocals and a set list that tops most bands today. A show I’ll remember for years - at least until I see them again. And, again.
Show was amazing, she is such a vibe. Loved her interactions with the crowd. Commodore is a great venue - except in 2022 they don’t have an ATM, don’t let you got out and back in, and have a merchandise table that only takes cash. Thought that was quite disappointing.
Tucker is a fantastic performer, he is incredibly lively and energetic and personable. He has got a great fan base with one of the nicest groups of people I ever met. Instantly upon walking in I met so many new people. The floor was crowded and very hot but the commodore was great at running around and giving out water etc everyone was checking in on each other and making sure everyone had enough space etc. Special shoutout to all the birthdays he made everyone say it to his fans, highly recommend!!
I convinced my wife to come last minute and picked up some cheap Craigslist tickets. I feel sorry for the person who couldn’t go because that show blew me away. Wow! Great music to get stoned to. Perfects visuals and an amazing journey. I will never miss another Caribou show in Vancouver again. …a show to be enjoyed for its well thought out audio and visuals. I can’t say enough about this performance but I sure wish it had been longer.
Theory of a Deadman was excellent! The band was great, the song mix was great, the new & the old! Stage presence was good, and of course Tyler stole the show with his amazing personality .. schmoozing the crowd! Was close enough to catch a guitar pic.. made my night! Come back to The Republic of Van Isle.. we love you!
