As always, Lake Street Dive put on a fabulous show! Their musicianship was on full display. James' guitar has been a welcome addition in the last year, and his licks varied from tasty to blistering. From Rhodes to synth, Akie's keyboards often drive the arrangements, and his fabulous vocals shine, especially on his "Same Old News" duet with Rachael. Drummers who can sing always amaze me, and Mike remains one of the best around; his harmonies are always spot on, and his lead vocals on "Seventeen" did not disappoint! And what can I say about Rachael? She is one of my favorite vocalists on the planet, with a rich contralto that demonstrates her extensive jazz training, and a magnetism that effortlessly draws in the entire audience. And, finally, Bridget, whose flawless harmonies fill out the top end, but whose unbelievable bass playing is probably the most unique feature of Lake Street Dive. I mean, what other indie/pop band has an upright bass?!? Her playing ranges from subtle, syncopated jazz to thumping rock, her tone is impeccable, and her solos are always crowd favorites. All in all, it was a wonderful evening in a beautiful venue with outstanding music! Who could ask for more?

This was one of the better concerts that I've been to in a larger venue. It's always a plus when you can hear the words, the voice, the musicality... without any of it being warped. In addition, we could see well enough from the balcony to see expressions, which was a plus. Gary Lightbody interacted so well with the audience, and the audience had a wide range of ages, which was nice to see (it's nice to see younger people enjoying good music that I enjoyed when I was younger). Overall a very good concert experience! And the venue (Paramount Theatre) is quite lovely.

This was such an incredible experience. In addition to their impressive musical talent and high production quality, this show surprised me with tasteful jokes and banter that made me laugh and heartfelt stories that made me tear up. Steven and Jon truly know how to connect with an audience of all ages and there was plenty of fun audience participation. I believe this show would be entertaining even for people who aren't very into classical music. That's what made me fall in love with The Piano Guys on YT in the first place, and is what this show really demonstrated: making classical music fun and accessible by building upon the original source material in innovative ways. I'm so grateful I got to see them live, and I hope you do too. Concert itself was about 2 hours with a 15 min intermission. Paramount Theatre is a gorgeous venue and had a decent view even in the third balcony. Top of the screen is a little cut off but I didn't mind too much.
